wv Posted March 2, 2015 Posted March 2, 2015 Use Berkley Big Game mono in 10lb until you feel comfortable with the baitcaster. BG can be found at Wal_Mart on sale for like $6 for 1000 yards. Thanks Allen. I'll check it out. Allen Quote

Super User Munkin Posted March 3, 2015 Super User Posted March 3, 2015 Liberty and Pretty Boy opened for boats yesterday, it won't be long now. I can't wait to cast out some jerkbaits... Good luck with that, I drove over Liberty Saturday going to the Gamber fishing flea market and it was frozen solid. Allen 1 Quote

Allen With next predicted to be in the high 40s in should be darn near thawed by the end of the week. Either way I'll be there when it thaws tearing them up. Even with the Chesapeake being about 5 minutes away, I'm still at liberty or pretty boy almost every weekend. Quote
Super User BrianinMD Posted March 3, 2015 Super User Posted March 3, 2015 Thursday this week the prediction is 6-12 inches of snow, even with highs in the 40's nights will be below freezing. It will take way long than a couple days to thaw these lakes out. Quote
IAY Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 Looking forward to coming back to Maryland from CT to do some fishing, during the week of 15-21st. Crossing my fingers that ice would be melted! Quote
Super User Munkin Posted March 3, 2015 Super User Posted March 3, 2015 Just an FYI, the Frederick Ollies has a bunch of Zoom and Berkley soft plastic baits for $1.99 a pack right now. Allen 1 Quote
jtphenom Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 I'm about to go into BPS and get thrown out for fishing in the big tank. This is brutal.I've probably read 500 articles and watch twice as many videos these last couple months just waiting for this cold weather to be gone! Quote
Dramer77 Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 hopefully the weather is about to break some since theyre calling for high 40's the next week.. i cant wait to get out and try out all the new gear i got lol.. Quote
Bill Poch Posted March 7, 2015 Posted March 7, 2015 It won't be long now! If we get a good steady days of 45+ degree weather what's the realistic time for Black Hills to warm up and fish start moving to pre-spawn staging areas? Quote
DaveT63 Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 MD guys, I'm in Southern MD, normally fish St Mary's lake, Gilburt Run, and sometimes the Potomac. Looking for someplace different for a weekend trip early May timeframe. Anybody fish Briery Creek Lake in Farmville, VA? If so, what can you tell me about it? Thanks, Dave Quote

KenLattimore Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 Drove to Black Hills this morning for a quick look. As expected it's totally frozen. Hopefully this week of warm weather will thaw things out. I don't know how much longer I'll be able to take it! 1 Quote

basser89 Posted March 11, 2015 Author Posted March 11, 2015 Teeth are moving in. Haha! I just told my brother that today. Too funny. I'm kinda surprised the river isn't higher than it is right now. I was expecting to see it well over 10'. Quote

I was expecting to see it well over 10'. Point of Rocks is projected to be at 11.5' on Friday. I was debating on checking out Dickerson this Sat but I think it's suppose to rain and from shore, I'm not sure how the river will look. I may cruise by that pond behind Frisco's instead and see if it's thawed. Trying to plan getting my brother's jon boat in at Black Hills on the 21st Quote
basser89 Posted March 11, 2015 Author Posted March 11, 2015 Bill, if the levels are hitting those numbers, the warm water discharge would be a bust from my experience. The canal there may be an option. I may be getting out this weekend too, just not sure where Quote
MDBowHunter Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 Does anyone here cross liberty reservoir daily? I was just wondering what the ice situation looked like, thanks for any help anyone can give... Quote

TRFisher Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 Hi Guys, I don't know if anybody on here ever visited the Predator Fishing Forum or not. I think it closed early in 2008. It's founder, Tom Pinckney (MuskieKid) passed away on 3/2/15. Here is the link to his obituary: http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/fredericknewspost/obituary.aspx?pid=174331662 Here is the link to probably the last Tiger Muskie Tom ever caught, back in June of 2007. It's a really nice one: http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h300/TRFisher/62007tmuskielg_zpsfvdcl8oa.jpg We had some great times on that forum, and Tom was a really nice guy. Please take a moment of silence for the man. Thanks. Quote
basser89 Posted March 13, 2015 Author Posted March 13, 2015 I do remember the site and Tom was on here briefly too. Never had the opportunity to meet him but heard he was a good guy.Moment taken for Tom and his family. Quote
Edub Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 Hows It going my fellow Maryland anglers. New to the firum and it looks like a lot of the treads I read are from people relatively close to where I live here in Frederick. Thanks to a friend I work with I got hit hard with the bass fishing bug this past summer. Cant get enough. We fish the southern end of Tridelphia most of the time on his bass boat and I hit a couple ponds in Middletown I have permission to fish. I was hoping I could get a couple suggestions on decent places to fish near Frederick that i may have over looked. Just purchased a Native ultimate FX12 kayak to get off the bank and to the fish. Does anyone have info on Greenbrier or Cunningham falls lake as far as how they fish. Cant wait for the ice to go and to get a line in. Thank you in advance for any information. Tight lines! Quote
