Allen,

Needwood is public. I am pretty sure you cannot bring your boat but not positive. I have seen a few people post reports of decent fish from there on the DNR website. Lake Frank is a little less accessible....

Got out to Linganore today and managed this among many other fish. She was another fat 22" =)20141027_124627_zpsoxntk3ut.jpg

I have heard of smalliez coming into Lake Linganore this time of year but I didn't manage to catch any. Ran into another who showed me a pic what looked like a 10lb bass he caught at one of the smaller lakes in Linganore community. I was shocked by the size of it.

Nice fish MARs, I wish Linganore was open to everybody. I'd love to fish that place.  I have fished the creek that flows out of there to the Monocacy, lots of smallmouth in that creek with some LMB mixed in.

Any1 gotten out lately? Went out yesterday and caught a few smallies on the lake. Nothing big, but I rarely catch smalliez at Linganore. I am going one more time today and that may be it for the season. Hopefully I get something picture worthy!

I went out last weekend up to Dickerson and fished the warm water discharge on the potomac.  Manage 7.  It's the first time I've tried up there from shore.  Nothing big, but I was catching fish.  I wanted to get the yak out, but it was really windy which would have made for a crappy day in the yak.

Sitting here looking at the weather for tomorrow I'm seriously considering calling out sick tomorrow to get the yak out on the Potomac one last time.  I told my wife this and she caught me and said "Isn't this the 4th time you said you'd take your kayak out one last time?" LOL.  Yes, yes it is.  Tuesday would be the better day but at my work we split Vets day and the day after thanksgiving for floating holidays.  I signed up to work Vets day, so I can't call out Tuesday.  So, as I sit here finishing my 3rd beer for the night, I'm pretty sure I'll be on the Potomac tomorrow instead of doing my job.

I do have to say I'm thankful for my wife understanding my fishing obsession instead of saying, no you need to go to work, she just shrugs it off and makes fun of me.

The closest I have came to fishing was cleaning the leaves out of my boat cover. I have had something to do every weekend day for the last 3 weeks. The next weekend I will have free maybe mid- December?

I didn't catch anything on Sunday..need to buy more sensitive rod other than my inexpensive ugly stiks...

What is interesting though is a buddy of mine pulled this out of the lake which makes me wonder how big, how many, and where I can catch them! I didn't think Linganore had them :)

Gave Dickerson a try today with my brother and another friend.  Fished right at the discharge and didn't catch anything.  I just tossed some small tubes and a few crank baits.  It was a lot warmer than I thought it was going to be today.  Did get a nice little fire going though.  It was just good getting out with my brother. The last few years he's been my fishing buddy. This was only the 3rd time we got out this year together though.  He got married to a girl with 4 kids, so his life has changed a bit.  Hopefully next year I can get out more with him.  On a side note, I could use a new fishing buddy for next year with boat and Jet outboard :D. I'm getting tired of paddling the kayak up the potomac. I don't have any other friends with a yak that I can hook up with to do actual float trips down the river.  I'm stuck putting in and taking out at the same place.  Would love to float Point of Rocks to Mouth of the Monocacy.  One of these days I'll have extra money to pick up my own 12 - 14' jon boat.

I'm seeing next Sun may be in the 50's, so I'll probably give it another try.  Might have to break out the night crawlers and see what happens.  I've normally given up fishing this late in the year in the past, but I'm gonna stick with it and see if I can figure Dickerson out.  It's too low now I think, reading 1.1' at point of rocks.

Does anybody know if the canal at dickerson can be productive in the fall/winter. I imagine it get's to cold, and I have no idea where those fish are going to hide, it doesn't look that deep.

While the canal at Dickerson can be slow this time of year, it has yielded a few to me as well as a decent one here and there.

Took a couple rods for a walk along the Potomac this morning. Managed a bump working a jerkbait on a pull pause retrieve and that was it. Spent some time trying to get the feel of the float 'n fly. Was just nice to get out again!

I am off work today and going to give it throw at the lake. I am sure its going to be slow but at least the weather is nice. Probably similar to your day basser. A bad day fishing is surely better than a good day at work.

Had a pretty good 3 hours. Caught between 10-15. Nothing big but had alot of action!

Caught everything on a cottom candy 4" Fat Albert. Eventually I know one of you will buy a house out here!

Won my first Non-US fishing tournament last week. Fished an open the hotel we were staying at had in Jamaica. Caught 23 "Jamaican black bass" (What the guy from the hotel called them, they looked like dark colored goggle-eyes to me) in 30 minutes for the win.

Hey MD guys,

Wanted to put a plug out there for our club, Fish On Bass Anglers.  Our first meeting for 2015 will be Wednesday, January 7th at 7PM.  The location is Dicks Sporting Goods in Gaithersburg.  Come on out and check us out if you are interested.

We meet the first Wednesday of every month and hold 13 tournaments a year from April through November.  It's a great group of fisherman and a very friendly atmosphere with a big emphasis on sharing/learning.  We hold tournaments on local waterways like Black Hills and the Potomac and we also visit places a little further away like Anna, Gaston, Deep Creek, and others.  We also do things like an annual picnic/BBQ after a Black Hills tournament, a Kids Fishing Derby, and other informal fishing trips.  The 2015 schedule has been posted on our site so if you are interested go check it out.

Details on membership are on the site as well, membership is open to all...Boater or Non-Boater (Especially non-boaters!).  The Boaters and Non-boaters are in separate divisions so the non-boaters never have to worry about 'financing' the boaters side of the payouts in tournaments like many other clubs.

I know that we have several members who post here as well.  I have been a member for 14 years so if you have any questions feel free to ask!

Thanks Logan

This is the club that I am part of, it is a great bunch of guys to fish with, can't wait to get next season underway. I do not own a boat so I fish as a co-angler, great way to learn, go to different places, and get off the bank.

I heard that fishing that club was dangerous and I should wear a hockey mask if I do.

There are quite a few in the area that I know of.

Antietam

Boonsboro

Williamsport (This is the one I currently fish)

Outcast

Hub City

Cabin Creek

These are the ones I can think of off the top of my head? Cabin Creek has a fishing flea market the weekend on January 18th (I need to double check that date). I suggest you come buy as just about every club will be there in some fashion. If you need me to answer any questions just send me a PM.

See if you can confirm that date. I've yet to get down to one of those and I'd like to show up and BS for a while.

It is both the 17th & 18th.  Although the fine print still says last years dates underneath - but the 17 & 18 are a Sat/Sun.

Cabin Creek Bassmasters will be having their annual Flea Market at the Washington County Ag Center on January 17 & 18.

Obviously it's a flea market but we do have a few vendors including

River Rock Custom Baits

Pappy's Baits

B&B Lures

Tuscarora Tackle

and a few others.

We will be having an auction at 12 noon on Sunday and the proceeds will go towards the Nelson L. (Butch) Ward Memorial Youth Scholarship Fund.

Saturday and Sunday January 17th and 18th 9 AM till 1 PM (doors open at 8:00 on Saturday)

There will be a food stand run by Mrs. Gibbles Restaurant

Washington County MD Agriculture Education Center

7313 Sharpsburg Pike

Boonsboro, MD 21713

That is the weekend.
