The bites been real slow for me the past couple of trips.  Caught a couple here and there on a spinnerbait but not many and nothing of size.  If anyone's catching them, what are you using?

Ive been using a 3/8 rapala rattle trap lipless in chrome almost exclusively the past week, nothing huge but alot decent ones, and of course the typical pickerels are killin it...

Hello MD fishermen,

I have recently found this site, and I've learned a great deal in a short time.  I have been fishing bay/surf mainly, but decided to try bass fishing, and I am having lots of fun.

I look forward to learning more and sharing information.

This morning, I went to C&O canal and caught several bass by pitching spinnerbait to fallen trees.  I was using smoke shad color spinnerbait, and most of the strikes were on the initial fall.

Here's a 18 incher from this morning.

Spoke with a friend at church this morning who did a club tourney on Susq river on Saturday. He said the winning bag was just over 16lbs. That's pretty impressive for small mouth. He also had a good day landing two smallies over 4 lbs.

Went out to Lake Linganore for a 2 hours today. Tough conditions but I managed one decent fish. IMG_20131110_140039_106_zps1f45ef6b.jpg

Hey guys.  I'm moving to back to Baltimore County at the end of the month.  I've actually lived there for most of my life but I didn't start bass fishing till last year so I don't really know any good freshwater spots.  If anyone knows any good spots in Baltimore County for bass fishing from the shore let me know.  I'm probably gonna see about renting a boat at Loch Raven Reservoir and maybe look into getting a kayak but for now I'm assuming that I'll be shore-bound.

Fished the Clopper lake for couple hours this morning.

Using chartreuse perch color square bill, caught couple dinks and one decent fish.

The fish had black blotches all over the body.  This was first time I've seen such markings.  Are they normal on bass?

Hope the weather stays warm enough to get more fishing in.

Wow...its been almost a month since anyone else posted on here?  Anyway, I've just had the misfortune of moving back to Dundalk in scenic Baltimore County.  I grew up here but didn't start fishing til I moved to the Eastern Shore so I'm at a loss for bass spots next season.  Does anyone know any goods spots where I can fish from the bank within about an hours drive?  I'm planning on renting a boat at Loch Raven Reservoir but that can get costly depending on how often I plan on going.  Heck, I might even be willing to get a PA license if the spots worth it and it isn't too far over the line. Any suggestions are welcome.  Thanks guys...happy holidays!

Oh...my mistake...just realized that I posted pretty much that same message a month ago.  Oh well.  Guess well just call that a 'bump'.

Hey Tuck, good call with the "bump". LOL! Haven't been out but one trip to Dickerson a couple weeks back. The wind was kickin, temps were raw and the river level was way low. Needless to say, I had no action. Not sure when I'll be able to get out again yet. :-S. Anyone else been out lately?

When I lived in Laurel I caught quite a few fish at Rocky Gorge from the bank. Piney Run and Black Hills Lake Seneca are within an hour but I would try the Baltimore area lakes. Liberty holds the state record SM and I here great things about Loch Raven.

Here is a list of fishing locations for the state by county.

Hey does anyone know if you can access black hills lake from any other point then their boat ramp by the DNR building? I have a kayak and am trying to put in on the opposite side of the 121 Bridge, is that possible?

You can put in any place you can get access to the water, there are boat passes over by the 121 bridge for this purpose. However the lake is closed to boats for the year. It will reopen March 1st.

By the way my name is Richie and I live in Frederick. I am new to BR & fish the Potomac from Dam 4 down to Nanjemoy Ceek, Susquehanna and Lake Anna as often as I can.

Having fished there a lot over the past several years I would guess that you could launch a kayak from several spots. I wish there was a ramp at the stickups or dam so I don't have to waste time trolling from the ramp.

Yea until now I have only put in at the boat ramp and paddled my butt off to get to my favorite spots

What Brian said, there is parking and a trail at the 121 bridge. I've never launched there just fished.  Welcome aboard, I'm from Frederick too.  I mainly fish Blackhills, Potomac, Monocacy, and a few creeks in Fredneck.  I have a kayak and share a Jon boat with my bros.

Welcome.to tHE boards Richie.

Add another to the list of Frederick anglers here. I've looked on line a little but haven't seen much in the expo area yet. I'm sure so others may know of some.
