Caught this 5lber on my flooded local river. I was fishing a normally dried up flat which reached a 3ft depth thanks to the snowmelt. Visibility was about 6 inches.

Another Fellow Marylander here on the forum ---

Just been having awful start --- I have been out at least 20 times at two different lakes that i have major success.

It seems that the bass are still in the deep hole and not wanna come out of their hive.

but I look forward as the weather gets warmer

It will get going boys....the Potomac near Ft Washington had 47 48 deg water so its close to poppin off. We graphed some fish on breaks in 8ft and 10ft of water. Wont be long til the grass comes up and they move up. Keep grinding.

I am a freelancer and the new guy who books me for work is into fishing.  It's great because he understands it when I say "the water is about to hit the 50's, I am not going out of town for three weeks".

Fished hard today and only managed 4 dinks (and a monster crappie) I think they are starting to go into the spawn duldrom, I had them good until last week.

I have Thurs-Saturday off, and I am going to try to fish every day.  Going to hit a bunch of ponds and see if anything is awake.  I usually hit the PG and Charles ponds as well.  If you see a bearded white guy with a short rod cussing about backlashes, come over and say hi.

I also got mad at work today and ordered two Hudds, a 68 Special in Rainbow and a Weedless Gill.  I finally have a rod that can throw bigger baits, so I wanna see how they work.   I got the weedless versions of both, but it is going to take some time before I am happy about throwing $25 into a weedline.

I'm gonna hit a couple of your spots, I read on the InterWeb® they were good... :)

Hah, I don't mind giving out intel, seeing other people catch good fish in "my" spots just lets me know it is worth coming back.  I also usually only talk about the ones that take some hiking to get to, that keeps the crowds thin.  I keep the smaller spots to myself as well.

When I had just started out I got a ton of advice from folks online, up to and including "paddle to the downed pine next to the old boat house, cast to the left of it" level of detail, so I try to help others out.

I like keeping my spots* secret, but it was kind of funny when I went to my "secret spot" on the Little Patuxent a couple weeks ago.  I've NEVER seen anybody fishing this one section.  But on one of the sandbars I found a new plastic bag with two curly tail grubs.  It wasn't dirty like it washed up there -- someone had to have dropped it.  I felt violated because somebody had been fishing in MY spot! :)

*Unless we're talking the Potomac, then I'll mention at least where I parked.

Hah, well, I have a "spot" on the Little Pax too, but I see guys there all the time.  Fortunately, they are mostly on the wrong side of the river and never seem to want to wade to get to the good spot.

The just stocked Governor's Bridge, that Hudd cannot come fast enough.  I am heading there tomorrow at some point to fuss with my BFS trout combo, I think my line is too heavy, but I need one more day of struggling with it to make myself pull it all off and go lighter.

Where on the Little Patuxent can someone on the other side of the river not cast to your side of the river?  Asking for a friend.

It's less "other side of the river" then "other side of a specific logjam" ;)

and this guy at just over 2lbs;

Got them both on a baby bass fluke.  Had a few other hits, all on the fluke or a Menace grub.

Headed out of town tomorrow for work, enjoy the weather guys.

I'll be out on the water tomorrow. Will report back if it's anything to write home about.

Nice!

For some reason I have never fished any of the Columbia Lakes, other than maybe an hour or so at Centennial. Cleary I need to remedy that.

Good to see some nice fish being caught in the area, but hard to see while being sidelined. Need to get out, need the tight line fix....

Friday Did well with the pickerel, but only one dink. Threw a little square bill for an hour on Sunday, caught 2 hand sized sunfish, and a fat 5.5 lber. She had the thing way back in her gill, and had to do a little surgery, took a while, but managed to get it out from under the gill, and it turned out ok. Monday caught 5 of the fattest little guys (girls), these things were 10" or 11" and went way over a lb, and a 2 1/2 lber. This warm weather is going to put them hard on the beds I think.

Guys I caught a really weird bass:

I'm in Miami for work but had some time today.  Hit a canal and caught this guy and a pile of small LBMs.

I hope there is still some action at home, I have the next two weeks off and want to do nothing but fish.
