That is really cool, I would have assumed that netters would have depleted them all in such a build up area.  

 

Now that I have a nice compact travel rod, I am going to be far more aggressive in making time for urban fishing when I travel for work.

The aroma of the Anacostia after a heavy rain and the wind is just right is enough for me to forego the surprisingly good fishing. I was stationed at the JB there and the Navy Yard, and I'd see guys puting catfish in their buckets, yuk!

Anyone been to little seneca this week ? I'm planning on getting out there this weekend and the beginning of next week. Just curious about the water temperature, activity, etc. Any information will be appreciated.

I am hoping to get to Little Seneca (Black Hills) this Sunday. Air temps keep going down in the forecast, not doing it when its mid-20's. If I go I will post when I return.

 

I have not heard from anyone who has been there yet.

I might try little seneca myself tomorrow for a couple hours. I'm going to try tomorrow and Monday a couple hrs each day. Not 100 % on tomorrow but definitely  for Monday. Let me know how you do and good luck.

Back from Black Hills, water temps range 41 to 47 degrees, water has some color to it but not bad. Ended up getting some bass on jerkbait, jig, tube, and shakeyhead. Decent day for the water temp and weather.

Anyone know whats going on with the Rocky Gorge Reservoir this year? The water level dropped at least 15-20 ft

Went to Lake Elkhorn today... fished chatterbait, jerkbait, and mepps spinner.  Skunk.  I am awful at cold water fishing - lol.

I hit up a small pond yesterday and had a single hit, a nice one shot out from an undercut and smashed my jig. But in my usual fashion I blew the hookset.  It seems like every time I see a bass hit my lure I never manage to land it.  On the bright side I the water was more clear then I have ever seen it and I found a bunch of deep holes I never suspected were there.  Also saw about a dozen very nice bass cruising around.  I had written this spot off before but clearly they are in there and from the litter/tree lure distribution, it doesn't seem like many people fish the more productive but less accessible parts of the bank.

not sure about rocky gorge but they draw triadelphia down every year in the winter.  also noticed the other day they had equipment out on the banks doing some kind of work there (triadelphia).  they could be doing the same thing on the rocky gorge end.  triadelphia is supposed to open up march 15 so water levels should be on the rise

I have not called to check but Triadelphia might be closed to boating and fishing until they are done with the Brighton Dam rehab project. The number to call is (301) 206-4386.

 

"During this time the Triadelphia recreation areas including the boat ramps will be closed to the public."

 

 "It is estimated to take approximately two years to complete."

Just talked to a buddy yesterday who called WSSC, both reservoirs are open this year and opening the 15th. Keep hearing about Brighton Dam work but it never happens.. I won't complain about that.

 Hey guys just want to let you know that I am offering a new service aimed at my fellow Maryland fisherman.   

 

I seem to have a magic power where when when I travel out of town for work, the weather at home is lovely. But, when I return home and have a week off, it suddenly decides to be 30° and windy again.

 

So for a low daily fee, I will arrange to be out of town whenever anyone would like to schedule themselves a glorious few days of fishing.

 

i'm thinking of expanding into ensuring that weddings have nice weather, but I think I'm going to jack my rate up for that.

I know what you mean. Just got everything settled on the boat and i can't seem to find a weekend where the weather isn't treacherous. What the hell....

For real it is driving me crazy.  Every one of the last few warm weeks I have either been gone or slammed with work, then when I have a few days off, the temp drops and the wind picks up.  I have all next week off and oh lets see what it looks like;

 

I guess I am driving north to chase some trout.  The only place I have really fished for them is Daniel's Dam, I would love any suggestion for other nice spots.  I have waders so I am primarily looking for places I can wade in bring the fight to the fish.  I have the stocking schedule, but it is rather vague about exactly where the fish are dropped so it is hard to zero in on wadeable spots.

So I found a fairly consistent pickerel/crappie bite, which held up for a week. So I go targeting pickerel again yesterday, but only found 2 of each, and 7 bass, ( 2 on a jerkbait and 5 on a finesse spinnerbait) go figure. Froze my butt off Saturday and Sunday, but it's amazing how a hookup warms you up.

Hah, well, looks like I am going to be safe behind a wall of snow for a while.  But don't worry, I am doing like 16h days all next week, so the weather should be fine!

 

I am going to hit the local ponds today while the sun is out.  I saw a bunch of larger than expected bass in one of them a week or so ago so I am gonna drag a jig across the entire pond until I catch one of them.

Decided to get out today as the forecast said it would be the least windy day of the week. Reaching the spot I had in mind required a hike and a lot of climbing but the weather was nice. First to hit was this 18" smallie

Next cast I had something on which pulled drag for all of 3 seconds before popping off. If it was a smallie it was a lot bigger than this one.

About an hour later got this

Catching one of these has been a goal of mine for about a year now so I was pretty thrilled. It took a lot of skunks to finally get one.

Got out with the waders to a pond in Charles County yesterday and today, managed 7 yesterday, 6 between a lb and 1 1/2 lbs, and one almost 3. Went to the same spot today I only managed 4, 3 dinks, and one between 7-8 on a swim jig. Its about to get good!
