Just glad someone I know was there to witness! Quote

The next day my buddy caught a 4.93 lb on a chili craw 1.0 in a pond in Bowie. To top it off, I caught my PB and second ever snakehead yesterday at the same pond in Bowie at 6.5 lb off a 3/8 booyah spinnerbait with a blur purple skirt. Nice job. I clearly need to explore those two areas more, I usually stick to Allen Pond and Governors Bridge when I am in that area. 1 Quote
Super User fishwizzard Posted March 27, 2016 Super User Posted March 27, 2016 I have only caught a few bass at Allen's Pond, but I have seen a few monsters cruising around the dock, which keeps me coming back. At Governor's Bridge, I have only really had luck in the smaller ponds. Nothing too big, but constant smaller ones. I was just there today throwing a chatterbait and a Jelly worm for a while. Had a few nips on the former, nothing on the big worm. I have always managed at least a fish or two there in the last few weeks, no idea why today was so off. In anycase, I saw some bluegill today and the SAV seems to be coming in now, so the pond should turn on soon. Quote
nastynate Posted March 27, 2016 Posted March 27, 2016 Hit sleepy creek yesterday for a little buddy tournament. Landed 5 fish and only 3 measured. Put a little funny money in my pocket claiming 1st and lunker. Didn't care for the ice build up on my eyelets in the early morn but o well. 4 Quote
JAB50 Posted March 30, 2016 Posted March 30, 2016 Going to stop on my way home and try to catch a few bass. Going to be in the Bowie/Crofton area. Anyone have any suggestions? Quote
Bill Poch Posted March 30, 2016 Posted March 30, 2016 Im looking for a knot to tie a 6lb floro leader onto 15lb braid. Any suggestions? Quote
Super User BrianinMD Posted March 30, 2016 Super User Posted March 30, 2016 Alberto knot, easy to tie, strong, small and can be trimmed right down to the knot so it passes thru guides very well. 2 Quote
Bill Poch Posted March 31, 2016 Posted March 31, 2016 Thanks guys, I'll give the Alberto ago. This is my 1st year using braid. I picked up a shaky head/drop shot/light finesse rod/reel this winter and figured I'd give braid a try. Quote

BigTerp Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 Planning on hitting the Dam 5 area (below) tomorrow afternoon. Hoping to get lucky with some smallies. Water temp at Williamsport was 58 this morning. What have you guys been having success with right now on the river? I'm thinking in-line spinners, 2.75" tubes and smaller cranks. I'm guessing I'll find them in typically staging areas, eddies and any type of structure. Quote
nastynate Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 The river is fishing really well. While I'm stuck out of town for work some good friends like to tease me with pictures of chunkie smallmouth throughout the day 1 Quote

I've not had the best of luck below dam 5 the last year or two but it's right behind my house so I need to get it figured out. Quote
nastynate Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 It seems like you have to hit the river everyday until that one day...it's on and you can throw everything at them and it dosnt matter what it is they will bite it. my guess they will be up in the dam if not they will be there soon hitting spinner baits, crank baits, swim baits, and of course tubes. Water flow helps too. Catch the river on a slight rise and it will be one hell of a day on the Potomac. 1 Quote
Super User Munkin Posted April 1, 2016 Super User Posted April 1, 2016 River is 2.8 feet and murky at 58 degrees so tubes wouldn't be my first choice. Allen 1 Quote
JeepFisher Posted April 2, 2016 Posted April 2, 2016 Anyone doing the Nite Bite at Centennial? Havent had too much luck there and have never fished at this time of year at night (in the dark). Any suggestions on what to throw? Quote

Centennial was recently drained for repairs, they have filled up the lake again? The bite might be slow, since Bass might be looking for place to live. Park ranger won't let you stay after dark, if you are fishing for bass in the evening then go with pre-spawn baits. Last year, I had fairly good luck using square bill, 1/4 oz lipless crank, LC pointer, and Black & Blue Jig with zoom chuck. Quote

I havent heard otherwise after signing up. The Nite Bite fishing goes from 6-11pm and then 6 -12 in the summer. Thanks for the tips! Quote

MDBowHunter Posted April 3, 2016 Posted April 3, 2016 Liberty Reservoir was hopping yesterday, I caught this big girl along with about seven or more which isn't bad for the four hours I fished. She went 6.47 and she was 23" long by 17.25 girth. 2 Quote
