Lendiesel22 Posted October 4, 2015 Posted October 4, 2015 Yikes! Those kinda days make you question everything Quote
nastynate Posted October 4, 2015 Posted October 4, 2015 My buddy Dustin and I decided to brave the elements yesterday and head down to black hills and catch us a couple fish. Water temps were in the mid 60s and had a little color to it. We slowly worked our way out onto the main lake from the ramp where we finally hooked up and put one in the boat. We found a little spot on the edge of a grass line near the dock that was holding either crappie or perch. We threw out a marker so we wouldn't get blown off the spot. We managed to hook up with 4 more times but only boated 2 of them. One came on a shakey head and another on a drop shot. We left that spot in search for wood and rock. Being the two river rats we are we don't know what the hell that green stringy stuff is that grows up from the bottom. Dustin hasn't been to the lake in years I took him on a little tour of what the lake has to offer. We managed to put a few more fish in the boat before the day cam to a windy end. Picked one up on a black-n-blue jig as it vertically dropped down threw a standing tree and the rest of the fish came off a spinnerbait. We had a decent outing but didn't lean back into a black hills hog this time. Looking forward to getting back down next week. Quote

S10rman88 Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 After moving back to MD at the end of sept after spending some years in VA beach and NC I decided to get into bass fishing at the recommendation of my roommate from college. Let me tell you I am having just as much fun as I did fishing saltwater. Most of these fish were all caught at the same pond near my house My own PB which from the looks of it is below avg for a normal day with some of you guys haha These 2 were caught during all the rain from the nor'easter we had recently And this little guy was my first bass I have ever caught on anything other then a t-rigged worm. He was def punching above his weight lol Glad to see there are a lot of great bass fisherman around MD and from the looks of some really healthy fish. 1 Quote
DaleGribble Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 got a few nice ones at Lake Needwood this morning. Again the crankbait bite was on around 830. Caught 6 in a row, including my personal best on a Rapala Dt10 This one weighed in at 6.3lbs This one was really long. It was 4.3lbs Quote
S10rman88 Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 Great looking fish there Dale managed to pull these 3 in about an hour this afternoon. Quote
Fried Lemons Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 After reading reports of crappie schooling near bridges and piers in the tidal potomac, I decided to try and catch them for a change of pace. Being shorebound, I went exploring some marinas in the Fort Washington area and located a school. All caught on a 2" chartreuse berkley power grub. The largest was 12". Quote
JigMe Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 Nice catch. Crappie and walleye are so tasty. Quote
Lendiesel22 Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 I have a tournament this Saturday on the susquehanna, anyone been up that way recent? Quote
Lendiesel22 Posted October 24, 2015 Posted October 24, 2015 Guy in my club had 3 for 17lbs today on the susquehanna. I did not fair as well Quote
nastynate Posted October 28, 2015 Posted October 28, 2015 Fished the anglers appreciation tourney Sunday down on Anna and In spite of our terrible practice Saturday we placed 18th out of 114 boats. Pretty excited about the finish. We lost one key fish that would have placed us in the top 10 but that's how it goes. It took a whopping 25lb to win the tournament. My two week vacation is getting ready to kick off and the long awaited rain is starting to fall. Looks like it time to head up to fort hunter and play with the smallies. Quote
nastynate Posted November 2, 2015 Posted November 2, 2015 Is there anyone out there?? Who's getting on the fall bite?? 2 Quote
S10rman88 Posted November 2, 2015 Posted November 2, 2015 Got out for an hour today and managed one on a squarebill and had another one on a lipless that dropped off. Been focused on the Stripers in the bay recently but it felt good to get some largemouth action 1 Quote
Fried Lemons Posted November 2, 2015 Posted November 2, 2015 Had a fantastic day at the C&O canal. The vegetation has died down so I brought out the ultralight gear. Caught 8 largemouth between 1-2 pounds, nothing big. I did get bit by something that ran in circles for about 3 minutes before spitting the hooks. I could not get it to come up with such light gear. The surprise of the day were the jumbo crappies which until today I didn't know were in that section of the canal. I caught half a dozen around 11-14". All the fish were caught on a gold kastmaster. Also spotted a snakehead sunning in the shallows. It would not take anything I threw at it. I thought they had been fished out from all the recent pressure but it seems they are very hard to eradicate. 2 Quote
S10rman88 Posted November 3, 2015 Posted November 3, 2015 Friend Lemons any tips for fishing the C&O? I have only been once to fish around Pennyfield locke rd and didn't even know where to start haha. Did manage one small largemouth on a crank bait but any tips would be appreciated Quote
