Super User Tuckahoe Joe Posted May 2, 2015 Super User Posted May 2, 2015 anyone on here fish Loch Raven? Been this year? Interested to hear how others are making out I fish Loch Raven a lot. Finally got out there yesterday for the first time this season. My wife caught one on a senko. I didn't get anything but we saw a lot of fish guarding beds. The best response I got was dropping a jig right in the center of a bed and then popping it once or twice really aggressively. Tried dragging it and hopping it slow and easy but the hard pops seemed to interest the fish more. Just not enough to bite. We're gonna go back Sunday. Thinking about renting a boat. Quote
Jtrout Posted May 3, 2015 Posted May 3, 2015 Went to rocky gorge yesterday for the first time for about an hour caught one bass about 15 inches on a trigged curly tail worm thrown at a small brush pile. Also seen some bass bedding it the back of some coves. Quote
Bill Poch Posted May 3, 2015 Posted May 3, 2015 Got the yak out at black hills Sat. 12 to 5. Only managed one fish on a texas rigged rage craw in about 8 foot of water. Missed another around the same spot. So hard to figure out where to fish without electronics on my yak. I really need to do something about that Quote

Super User BrianinMD Posted May 5, 2015 Super User Posted May 5, 2015 Just my normal heads up, my club is doing a tourney on Black Hills this saturday. We will be launching at 6am and weigh in at 2:30. With 18 boats it gets kind of hectic, as some on this forum can attest to, so just a heads up. Quote
MARsSPEED Posted May 6, 2015 Posted May 6, 2015 Fished 4 to 6:30 today at Linganore. Caught 6 LMB. They are definitely in pre-spawn and staging due to warm temps. Only saw two beds but many fish were swimming/schooling 10 to 20 feet off shore close to the surface. I saw quite a few hawgs but the ladies were not interested. Here are my two largest of the day. One at 20" and the other at 19". 1 Quote
Bill Poch Posted May 6, 2015 Posted May 6, 2015 The spawn is full on at Baker Park. I picked 5 of their beds at lunch today. Biggest just shy of 3lbs. I doubt I will fish back up there until they are off the beds. No point in catching the same fish over and over. I found a soft plastic they were just crushing. All 5 fish today didnt take longer than 3 mins to catch after spotting them on their bed. Should be putting the yak in at whites ferry this weekend although I'm hearing reports that the fishing is a lot slowet than it should be. I think the river is going to be at 4 feet at point of rocks so I think I will be able to paddle up river and fish back Quote
BigTerp Posted May 6, 2015 Posted May 6, 2015 Trying to decide between taking the boat below dam #5 or below the power plant at Williamsport to the Potomac Fish and Game Club. Any suggestions? River should finally be manageable for a Saturday morning trip!!! Quote

River should finally be manageable for a Saturday morning trip!!![Power plant can yield great numbers when it's on! 23" smallie was caught this week at 5 along with a number of Muskie. Quote
BigTerp Posted May 7, 2015 Posted May 7, 2015 Thanks man. I'm very familiar with dam 5 to Williamsport, but have never fished before below the power plant dam. Wasn't sure what to expect or where to really go down that way. Might give it a try though. Quote
wv Posted May 7, 2015 Posted May 7, 2015 Finally caught something.- last night at Cacapon Park Lahe in Berkeley Springs WV. Hope you can see it. Quote

I would fish right into the dam Quote
BigTerp Posted May 7, 2015 Posted May 7, 2015 What you going to the power plant dam jump the pipe line on the west v side. I would fish right into the dam HA!! No chance. I have a cousin who recently moved into a development with a private boat ramp on the WV side. It's about a mile down from the 81 bridge. It's a little more fancy than my sub-divisions boat ramp below dam #5. Mine is a mess right now with the river being up and down the last few weeks. Quote
BigTerp Posted May 7, 2015 Posted May 7, 2015 Don't end up like this. And when was this? What happened? Quote
nastynate Posted May 7, 2015 Posted May 7, 2015 Guy trolling around bumped a rock, threw himself off balance and got knocked out during his fall. The dam sucked in the boat. He survived and they flipped and pulled the boat out. Quote
Bill Poch Posted May 8, 2015 Posted May 8, 2015 The Potomac is suppose to be at 4' high tomorrow at Point of Rocks. Anybody familiar with how it will look at White's Ferry? I'm going to put the kayak in tomorrow, just curious if it's going to be to high to paddle up river and fish back down. Quote
BigTerp Posted May 8, 2015 Posted May 8, 2015 Man, the Potomac got to be a mess pretty quickly!! It crested in Hancock yesterday morning. Right now it's like chocolate milk in Williamsport. Hopefully it clears some by the morning. Quote
Super User BrianinMD Posted May 9, 2015 Super User Posted May 9, 2015 Pretty good day at Black Hills today. Ended up winning the co-angler side of my club tourney with 5 fish for 16lbs 1oz and big fish with on a little over 4lbs. Seems the lake is transitioning from spring to early summer. Don't think fish will be tied to the bank much longer. 1 Quote
shsabres Posted May 12, 2015 Posted May 12, 2015 Anybody have any suggestions for bank fishing in SO. MD? Live in Charles County. Been fishing Gilbert but all SMALL. Quote
Super User rippin-lips Posted May 12, 2015 Super User Posted May 12, 2015 Western Md update. Fished Deep Creek Lake Saturday from about 11-8. Water temps were 68-73, and the fish are still fairly shallow. Carp are way up in the shallows spawning. Caught about 3 dozen fish. Walleye, pickerel, brown, and green bass. Quote
Scoob13 Posted May 14, 2015 Posted May 14, 2015 Where are all the fish! I've been out to Black Hills to bank fish a few times and cannot catch a thing. Fished both the corner by the bridge on 121 and around the boat launch. Just like last year, I can't catch a cold. Looking for some good bass fishing in or near Montgomery County. Anyone care to share some good spots? I'd like to find a good lake and maybe somewhere on the Potomac that I can bank fish. Any help is much appreciated! Quote
Super User BrianinMD Posted May 14, 2015 Super User Posted May 14, 2015 If fishing Black Hills from shore get away from where everyone else fishes. The easy shore spots to get to are pounded in oblivion. As mentioned in my earlier post there are some fish still shallow but they are transitioning to post spawn and moving out. Another option not to far away is Seneca Creek State Park just off of Clopper Rd. (Rt. 117). Smaller lake with shore access to the whole thing. 1 Quote
Super User Tuckahoe Joe Posted May 14, 2015 Super User Posted May 14, 2015 any luck today? i've been a couple times already this year but just beat the bank. had some luck but no big females yet. think im gonna rent a boat next weekend. my buddy went this past saturday and caught 5 before 11am Didn't do the boat. Just walked the bank again. Caught a good sized pickerel on a squarebill but no bass. Saw probably a dozen of them though and tired just about every bait possible. They would get nose to nose with it, watch it for a second and then just go back to swimming back and forth. Kind of disappointing. I was having a lot more luck this time last year. Quote
yakbasser3 Posted May 15, 2015 Posted May 15, 2015 Anybody been out recently on the upper chesapeake bay in or near furnace bay? Going after largemouth saturday. Last I heard the spawn was in full swing there. Quote
