Not sure where or when yet but if anyone wants to meet up let me know Hey Brian! I'm going to try to head out at some point this weekend. The wife is working this weekend so if I can secure some babaysitting for a few hours I'll let you know. If you decide what day and time, let me know. Quote
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted April 9, 2014 Super User Posted April 9, 2014 Since I've kinda set up shop in your Maryland thread, I'll post this here. Took a little vacation for a few days to a beautiful lake. Pretty awesome scenery. 2 Quote
301-fisherman Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 Basser, is culler lake still age restricted??? Thought it used to be 15& under. And do you only fish the lake or do you fish the creeks too? Quote

Not sure where or when yet but if anyone wants to meet up let me know Black Hills again this weekend, hopefully I can do better than last weekend. Piney Run is always an option as well because I hope to catch one of those hugh stripped bass. Allen 1 Quote
nastynate Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 Plan to be back at black hills Sunday as long as my ohio trip goes well Saturday. 1 Quote

I had a little free time this evening, so popped over for about an hour and managed one good one this evening. Finally broke the 5lb mark this year (5-1). Here's a pic. 2 Quote
301-fisherman Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 d**n I was there until 5 and I saw something fat jump out of the water I had no luck Quote

I was throwing a lipless crank. There are some HUGE carp in there too, that may be what you saw jumping but just a guess. Quote
301-fisherman Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 Man too bad I missed you. I went at a terrible time. Ton of people there. I have lived in Frederick my whole life and that was my first time throwing there. Maybe I'll have to give the crank a try. 1 Quote
Bill Poch Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 Nice fish basser, that's pretty much exactly where I caught one of my 5lb's out of there last year. The other place was over by the little storage house right across the pond from you. I'm planning on running over there Friday after work. Quote
Scoob13 Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 Hey what's going on fellas? I just moved to Germantown, MD in January and now that the weather is finally turning its time to start fishing. I lived in Pittsburgh before moving here and would spend at least 5 days a week fishing different lakes, ponds, and rivers. Now that I am down here I have read a lot of good stuff on places to fish but would like a little more info. Where are some good large mouth spots near Germantown? Also, I've never fished for stripper before and would like to give that a shot if I can get an idea of where to go on the Potomac or Monocacy. I read Seneca is hit or miss so just kind of looking for some more spots. I do not have a boat (although I can dream) so all my fishing is done from the shore. Quote

Lendiesel22 Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 Hey fellas, where is the best place to park at Black Hills? I will be up Sat morn, dont want to waste any time figuring out where I am supposed to be......also any reports and tips are appreciated. Quote
Super User BrianinMD Posted April 10, 2014 Super User Posted April 10, 2014 Welcome Scoob13, don't worry we won't hold being from Pittsburgh against you....to much There a few guys on here in the Germantown area, I live in Germantown myself. Black Hills will be the most talked about place in the area. Can be good fishing and some big fish. Can also humble you pretty quick though. There is also Cunningham Falls just north of Frederick. I am sure others will chime in some of the places they have luck from shore. 1 Quote
Scoob13 Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 Brian, Thanks for the tip. I'm actually hoping to head over there tonight and give it a shot. Any advice on where in the lake to shore fish? Quote
Super User BrianinMD Posted April 10, 2014 Super User Posted April 10, 2014 I would stay away from the easily accessible areas, those areas get pounded all the time. Once you go into the park and go by the office take the first left if stay to that area. Find a lot and walk down to the lake, look for places with some shallow wood which will not be to difficult. I haven't been there from shore yet this year so not sure exactly where is good so far. If I would be going I would probably go to the first lot after you take the left (you go from driving thru trees to it opening up to where pavilions are, go down the hill). Quote
301-fisherman Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 Basser are you hitting culler tonight? I might head over after work. Quote

basser89 Posted April 11, 2014 Author Posted April 11, 2014 Welcome to THE boards Scoob! Sorry for the delay in responding! Yes, I'm referring to Culler lake when I say Baker Park. That's what I was told it was when I was first moved down here many moons ago. Kinda like there's a spot on Black Hills that I refer to as Dead Squirrel. LOL! I help coach my daughter's soccer team so Tuesdays and Thursdays are booked. I MIGHT be able to pop over tomorrow after work for a little while. I'll try to post tomorrow around lunch time to confirm. Quote
Webbster Posted April 11, 2014 Posted April 11, 2014 I am headed down to Frederick tomorrow morning to get some fishing in. Gonna try and be there around 9:30 - 10:00. Maybe I'll see y'all there. Quote
Super User Tuckahoe Joe Posted April 11, 2014 Super User Posted April 11, 2014 Went to 3 Howard County lakes today. Centennial was pretty crowded. Walked halfway around trying various spots with no luck. Saw a guy in a boat just outside of my casting range pick up 3 in about 5 minutes which was frustrating. Went to Jackson's Pond after that again with no luck. After that I hit Lake Elkhorn and got my first bass of the year. It's tiny but I'll take it! Got him on a Red Eye Shad. Threw him back and on my wife's next cast she caught the same fish. I could tell it was the same cuz of a red mark on the upper lip. Between me, my wife, and my brother we got 6 and lost 2. Nothing bigger then 9 or 10 inches though. Probably gonna hit up Loch Raven on Sunday. 1 Quote
