JigMe Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 Cool man, thanks. Looking at google maps, it looks like all 3 are relatively close to each other so I'll probably check them all out and see whats gonna work best for me. How bout Harford county...any one know any good spots from the bank up in that area? You can always fish Loch Raven reservoir, you can even rent a boat there and should be able to land some bass in 5-6lb range. Or walk the shore line from the bridge on Dulaney valley road, but not sure about Hardford. Quote

Definitely gonna rent a boat but don't have the cash to rent one every time. I've fished the area your talking about a couple times but never really did very well. Just trying to expand my fishing horizons and give myself as many options as possible. Also thinking I might buy a setup for stripers. Theres a lot of parks near me with salt/brackish water and fishing piers. Quote
Super User rippin-lips Posted February 20, 2014 Super User Posted February 20, 2014 51 today. Hopefully we don't have too much longer. 1 Quote
Bill Poch Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 51 today. Hopefully we don't have too much longer. Should almost hit 60 this Sat but then another cold spell bringing us back in to the low 30's. With the warmth this week would it even be worth getting out on Sat afternoon. I don't know how fast the ponds warm up, I have 2 near me. Thinking about hitting dickerson put with all the rain/snow it's going to be super muddy and I've not had luck shore fishing there. Quote
Super User Tuckahoe Joe Posted February 21, 2014 Super User Posted February 21, 2014 The wife and I are planning on going out Sunday. Not sure if I'm expecting to catch anything or not. It'll be nice just to be able to get out and wet a line. 1 Quote
Super User Munkin Posted February 23, 2014 Super User Posted February 23, 2014 Getting warmer but I did drive over Liberty yesterday and it was frozen. Allen Quote
Dramer77 Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 Heck there were people ice fishing on Blair's valley yesterday Quote
Bill Poch Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 I checked out the pond in Middletown since I was dropping my kid of for a Bday party on Sat, it was 95% still covered in ice. The pond in Baker Park was clear of ice, but I didn't give it a shot. Quote
JigMe Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 Gonna wait until End of March before trying to Bass fish, but trout fishing always fun at a stream. Quote
Super User Munkin Posted February 24, 2014 Super User Posted February 24, 2014 Heck there were people ice fishing on Blair's valley yesterday Did you try a wacky rigged senko through one of the holes? Allen Quote
Super User rippin-lips Posted February 24, 2014 Super User Posted February 24, 2014 A few friends have been doing pretty well ice fishing at Deep Creek Lake. It's not for me lol. Quote
Super User Tuckahoe Joe Posted February 24, 2014 Super User Posted February 24, 2014 Went to Dundee Creek for a couple hours today but no luck. We did see some fish jumping but I guess they just weren't interested in what we were throwing. The water still felt pretty cold. Probably gonna wait till we get a couple solid weeks of warmer weather before trying for bass again. Quote
Super User Munkin Posted February 25, 2014 Super User Posted February 25, 2014 Now is a good time for basser89 to start planning the GTG for this year! Allen Quote

john81 Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 Anyone in Calvert county area want to do some bank fishing soon? Quote
trickwormmaster Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 tried ice fishing for the first time with spoons and wax worms at Greenbrier lake near hagerstown last Sunday (2/16). caught nothing. tried again at a local pond in carroll county that had a solid 7" of ice on it. caught nothing. noticed that DNR started stocking trout at Piney Run yesterday so i figured i'd try that. caught nothing...because the entire lake was covered in ice. no clue how they got the trout in there. also noticed they stocked the south branch patapsco so i tried that. caught nothing. spring bassin cannot come soon enough. nastynate Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 Other than cold weather there is hope in sight. I caught a small large mouth out of the big slack section of the river yesterday. I was kinda surprised how tight it was holding to the bank and inhale the tube on its initial drop before it made it to the bottom. Looks like this year we are a couple week late because of the cold weather but when it happens the bite will be good. 1 Quote

nastynate Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 Are you fishing from the bank or a boat? Allen . Allen I have been beating the banks. Haven't got this years stickers for the boat yet. I just got home from the river a bit ago and I'm pretty ticked, I lost another musky 40+ inches after about a 15 min fight. The musky brushed up against something along the shore line and I just felt it threw the line and snagged I was. I have been tying different styles of hair jigs and I have found one the muskys can't resist. 4 total so far this month and of course I only have landed the smallest one. 1 Quote

Nate, it's been several years since I've messed with muskies but my dad turned me on bucktail jigs years ago. I've managed a couple myself on them. Good to know there's still some good ones around! I'd like to say that this will be the year I get back into them but I'm still tryin to figure out when I will get my first outing in for bass. :-/ Quote
