Visited an old spot the other evening. Hit Sharpsburg pond for a little while. Managed 3 in the short time I was there on a soft stick bait.

Got the unofficial word yesterday that I'll be getting a job offer for a company in Frederick on friday so things are starting to get back to normal! More than likely, won't have the boat ready until spring.

Think I may hit somewhere for a little this afternoon.

theres some nice fish in sharpsburg pond, never seem to have much luck there though

If you had a choice to fish d**n 4 or d**n 5 on the potomac this weekend, which one would be the better choice?

It depends on the day but overall they are about the same.

Thanks Ken!

Decided on the C&O canal in Dickerson. The first action I had ended in heart break. I was throwing a KVD frog over the duckweed. Made a cast back over one of the laydowns on the opposite bank and it immediately got sucked down. Felt the weight and set the hook! The next second, all I feel is dead weight. So I think I'll just pull it free..... ha ha ha, that never happened. It somehow ran my line into a slit in a submerged log. Only think I could do is break the line. As I'm retying the bass tried several times to throw the bait. Guestimating it in the 3-4lb range. Managed 2 (both between a pound and a half and 2lbs) on the KVD frog. Tried soft stick baits and beavers as well with no takers.

Interesting action Sean, may have to stop by Dickerson tomorrow morning for a little bit to see if I can get a couple frog fish. Was going to a private pond with someone but that fell thru so will be heading out alone if I go out.

Hello Everyone!

New to the site.   After work, I am planning on hitting one of the Ponds at the Olney Manor park.  I have a lot of luck catching largemouth one to two pounders in force on Rapala X Rap Popper, and 4" Senkos starting about 45 minutes before Sunset.  Probably bring both my Baitcaster, and Light rod tonight.  I want to try out the frog I got.  Also, I would like to see if I can wrangle out a few Bluegill.  About all my fishing has been shoreline fishing.  I really am a stickler for ponds, as they are easy to get acquainted with.  Lake Needwood I avoid like the plague.  Lake Frank Bernard can be good fishing one day, and a bust the next.  What I like about Lake Frank is days when it is just me and the lake, and no one else.  The walk is not bad until you have to come back up the hill, and the steep part of the path back to the parking lot.  There is a pond back off the trails, I have not hit yet.  One of these days.  My favorite spot is a Pond on a friends farm.  Very easy to fish, and can pull in bass and gill all day long.  Great spot to test out new lures, but can be deceiving as the largemouth and gill bite just about everything you throw in there.  I am looking to hit up Tridelphia and Black Hills in the near future.  Tips are always appreciated.

Glad to meet you all.

Anyone fishing the tourney at big slack on Sunday?

Do you have any details?

Looks like a jetboat trail out of WV? I don't know where some of those places are. Slackwater has been tough fishing this year but I know where the LM are.

Got out to big slack today for a quickie before the storm. The bite is on but this storm will probably change everything.

Didn't have a partner. Still went down to the weigh in. Couple boats without any fish and most boats with under 5 fish. Lunker was 3.03 smallmouth and winning weight was in the high 6's. The winner had 5 fish 1 large and the rest smallies for a over all total of 7lb something but one fish was dead and another very close. That deducted 8oz of his total weight. Didn't count the number of boats but I think the top 4 and lunker got paid. After weigh in I stopped at the d**n and then to tailors to catch some fish. Average fish size is getting bigger...I love fall

Managed to get out at Black Hills Sunday morning (7-11am) and a little during the evening (5-6:45pm). Caught three in the morning with the largest going about 3lbs- got one each on a jig, topwater and plastic in that order! Caught two more in the evening about 1-2lbs on plastic.

Just curious, has anyone caught any. I those muskies that wee stocked last year?

Interesting. Almost joined that club several years back. Was talked out of it after hearing it was an "every man for himself" type of club at that time. No disrespect meant towards any of the current members that could read this.

Sean, ironic you mentioned joining a club....I just happen to know of a good one for you.... :)

Sheesh Brian, haven't even started the new job yet. Give me time. :-P. LOL

I'll fish one of those with you Allen.  If not this year, next maybe?

That goes for anyone needing someone on the back of the boat. Just need a little notice to make the schedule happen.

The Black Hills Armada! Seriously I have never seen that many boats at once at Black Hills.

I am back in Graduate school so not a lot of free time to fish. Normally I cannot find anyone that will fish? Let me see how school goes but there is a Slackwater tournament at the beginning of November. I like this one because I have won money both times I fished it.

It all depends on the club? The one I fish is that way and nobody will screw you. If they try backboating, etc. they get disqualified and possibly black balled from the club. There are some out there that will backboat their own mother to get 5 points ahead.

Hey Allen, let me clarify a little more. Besides the competition, I was looking to learn from others who have a different style than me so I could become a better angler. From what I was told from a former member as well as one of my friends that did join, even after an event was over, no one would share any info what so ever to help you get better. You'd get BS info no matter what position someone placed.

Munkin, yeah I am sure we have surprised a few people who were not expecting 18 boats out there. Don't mind the BH tournies but lower Potomac and Gaston are more fun.

Sean, you are the one who mentioned joining a club first....   :)

Interesting you brought up the learning from being in a club. That is one of the best thing about ours, along with fishing a variety of places at the end of each tourney each person talks about where they caught their fish and what baits. I have learned a ton while fishing in this club.
