Never have fished there but from what I here is super clear and tough to fish during the day. A budy of mine says drop shot can be deadly there. This is all word of mouth here say.. Lol. And nights are the best time to fish it.

I managed to get out at Black Hills over the Father's Day weekend (Fri, Sat & Sun). Just a couple of hours on Fri and Sun, and fished from 6:30am - 1pm on Sat.

Overall not too bad with 2 fish on both Fri and Sun. Managed five and lost two on Saturday. Biggest fish around 2.5-3 lbs. Can't put my finger on it but this season seems a little slow.

Yes, I spoke with Sean and he said the 15 June tournament had to be moved to the 22 because of the MD DNR.

Rocky Gap is tough to fish in the summer but so is Black Hills that everyone on here seems to like. I have fished 3 of these open tournaments over the past couple of years and done well.

Hey guys...I got a question about the Maryland Angler Awards Program.  The DNR website says that digital photos are acceptable if the fish is released.  How does that work?  Would I just take my camera into an Angler Award center or should I upload the pic to my computer and print it out or what?  I don't have an entry or anything since I usually don't measure my fish but I know I caught a chain pickerel and maybe a largemouth this year that would have been pretty close to being eligible.  Any of you guys ever get one of these?  How does it work?

Hey Tuck,

I've been doing the program for several years now. It's as easy as it sounds. I typically take a pic of me holding the fish as well as one with a tape measure showing the length and one with the girth. Just email the pics with a brief summary of your outing and your address and you're good to go! If you have any questions, let me know.

Cool...thanks man!  Since I've only been at this for about a year it would feel really rewarding to catch a citation-worthy fish.  Make me feel like I'm doing something right.

How'd the tournament go? I couldn't make it due to family emergency.

Turnout was decent but the fishing was not good. Lunker was 2.55 and winner had a limit of 5 that weighed 4.66. So you get the idea.

Oh wow seemed to be really tough fishing.

4.6lbs for 5 fish won

I was third with 4.16 for 3 fish and tied for lunker at 2.55lbs.

There were about 25-30 boats and like the post above it was really tough fishing. I caught about 20 short fish which was very frustrating when trying to fill out a 5 fish limit.

Me and the woman fished it. Had a good morning on the water. Went into the tournament mainly looking for the largemouth in the deeper water. I made one mistake on a fish (pre mature hook set ) and broke off one what appeard to be a 3 pounder. The woman threw in right behind and smacked landed a largemouth that went into the live well. I tossed right back in and pulled out a short large mouth. Tough break but we were happy just unfortunate with mistakes. The winning weight was 5 something with 5 fish and my budy kory and lance won lunker at 2.6. Only keeper they caught all day. Most every one ran up. Didn't fish Sundays tournament at river bottom but went to weigh in. Lots of 5 fish stringer and winning weight was 6.82 I think.
