Super User rippin-lips Posted January 8, 2013 Super User Posted January 8, 2013 blairs valley is near clearspring, its worth a boat i'd say.. alot of nice fish in there.. its electric motor only though... have you fished big pool? thats a nice boat spot I've never been East of Cumberland to fish in Md except for 15 mile creek in Flintstone.I typically go to deep creek lake with my boat or Rocky Gap's lake Habeeb. What is this pond? No boats obviously. Heavily fished? Quote
Super User BrianinMD Posted January 8, 2013 Super User Posted January 8, 2013 I was out last saturday but it was down in Occaquan creek on the lower Potomac. Even down there there was ice, had to use the boat to break it up to fish some areas. Bass were not biting but did get a few nice crappie. If there is no ice left fishing is still worth it, it may be slow but better than sitting at home. Just check that some of these places are still open. A lot of places are closed from Dec 15th thru March 1st. Quote

Super User rippin-lips Posted January 8, 2013 Super User Posted January 8, 2013 Big pool and Blairs valley are on my list for the spring. What about Indian springs pond. Is that actually a pond or is that just what it's called? It keeps being listed as part of Blairs Valley when I look for it. Quote
Dramer77 Posted January 9, 2013 Posted January 9, 2013 im not sure , ive never fished that pond... Quote

Super User rippin-lips Posted January 9, 2013 Super User Posted January 9, 2013 I looked it up on the map. I'm guessing it's the sliver shaped body of water that's right beside the river. It's called big pool on the map. Quote
Super User BrianinMD Posted January 9, 2013 Super User Posted January 9, 2013 Rippin-lips, that should be it, you have to go into Fort Frederick park to get there, drive by the fort itself, then after a set of railroad tracks you will see a dirt road off to your right. That is the road to the boat ramp. Dramer, once spring gets here hopefully we can get something set up for Black Hills. I am sure Basser89 will want to join it, spring is his spinnerbait time at BH. basser89 Posted January 9, 2013 Author Posted January 9, 2013 Rippin-lips, Brian's directions are spot on for Big Pool. Also, if you're up for some shoreline fishing there too. There is pond just past the road that takes you to Big Pool that has bass in it as well. Dramer77, Black Hills is definitely worth a few visits in the spring for sure! The bass in my avatar is my PB and I caught her at Black Hills in mid-March a few years back. While spinnerbaits are my go-to bait in the pre-spawn, that one came on a lizard. Quote

Dramer77 Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 god i need to get a boat..lol went out in the semi nice weather , nothing really biting but it was nice to throw a line out with my new gear Quote
Super User BrianinMD Posted January 14, 2013 Super User Posted January 14, 2013 This will be my 4th year with FOBA, i guess you left before then. Its been a lot of fun, learned a lot since I started there. yeah Dramer, getting off the bank definitely has its advantages especially in the colder months when fish are deep. Only place I know of up there for this time of year is the heated water discharge but I do not know specific directions. Basser89 knows the details I am sure he will chime in. Quote

If not, its basically between Sharpsburg and Hagerstown on route 65. Quote
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted January 16, 2013 Super User Posted January 16, 2013 Is this the address? 7313 Sharpsburg PikeBoonsboro MD 21713-2431 Quote
Super User BrianinMD Posted January 16, 2013 Super User Posted January 16, 2013 The Ag Center is closer to Sharpsburg, does have a pretty good sign out front. If coming from Hagerstown it is on the left off of 65. Quote
