I was able to get 6 Largemouth from a small pond near my work last night on the way home in a little over an hour. Nothing big but they were attacking the frog. Now this pond is not very pressured but they sure did like jumping the frog:D

Where are you headed out to this weekend?

More than likely long and or loon. I wanted to hit the lakefront for smallies but it looks like a north wind may put an end to that idea

Let me know how you do and what the water temps are

I'll probably be on Loon tomorrow afternoon.

I tried to fish this lake several times last year and their launching ramp is really bad. I got my trailer almost stuck both times, thank god for 4 wheel drive. Let me know how the ramp is and how you do out there. The second lake is the better bass lake.

I Launch at Loon all the time and the ramp is good.  are you sure you were on the right side?  one side hasn't been redone in many years.  The ramp here looks way better than the one at Long you say you have no problem using

Fished from 5:30 til 11Water was 59 when I launched and 63 when I loaded. The buck bass are on fire. I killed them on weightless Houdini shad in bluegill color. Caught a couple on swimjigs as well. Nothing flipping jigs or creature baits. Don't think I caught a fish over 13" but once the sun started coming up, the bite got real hot.

Might do Loon tomorrow for panfish. Allen Der is correct about the ramp at Loon. One side is decent and the other side is shot.

three in a row ending with a 3 pounder on the ned rig. looks like they're definitely holding tight to beds now. pretty cool to see for the first time.

Well that's interesting. The one at Long I've launched several times with no problems, the one at Loon, a couple of years ago, I launched on the pad on the right side as you are facing the lake, correct? Seems the ramp is higher on one side than the other. Launching is not the problem. Retrieving the boat is the issue. I have a Ranger 619VS and she needs more deeper water, so maybe my tires are off the ramp and in the mud when I launch at Loon.

Thanks for the report. Looks like the water is starting to warm up.

Bucketfull O Gilberts. Bet we caught and sorted thru 100+ fish today. Kept 6 of the biggest gills for the taxidermist. The bass and crappie above my fireplace need company.

You might have just talked me into leaving the bass rods at home the next time I go! What's your tactic?

1/2 a crawler on a long shank hook, 8lb fluoro on a $30 Abu spinning combo under a bobber. We caught fish form 1'-8'fow. Main tactic is to keep moving until you find the big ones. The small gills will not be with the large gills. The deep bite was just dragging a 1/2 crawler on the bottom with a splitshot. We caught about 8 bass, all shorts on minnows. Bite should be decent for another 3-4 weeks, then it will get tough once the lake gets choked with weeds.

Nice lookin' gills Paul.

Here's a pair of 2.5lbers I got last night throwing a wake bait. Water was getting really active right at sundown.

Pond fishing?

Yep. Out my front door.   I was up north last weekend (5/13-5/15) and it was frigid cold, rainy, snowy, windy.

Had some fun in the rain today after an early work release. I threw around a 90 size whopper plopper in perch. Caught 4 bass lost about 3 due to lazy hooksets on my behalf, all in about an hour and a half.  Here's one of the better ones.
