Avaitor63 Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 Hi, IL anglers Greg here just got off of Maple Lake caught a 3.5 lb large mouth bass. I found out some bad news Cook County is not going to put rental boats out this year,to bad it could have been better fishing on that lake. 1 Quote
Super User slonezp Posted June 8, 2014 Super User Posted June 8, 2014 Best numbers day I've had all year. 4hrs on the Chain and I boated almost 40 bass. mostly small males between 13"-16" a few smaller and one pushing 4lbs. Water temps are 72*-74*. I picked up my jig rod and never put it down. 1/2oz NorthStar Brown Craw with a Rage Craw trailer was the ticket. Quote

BDPIL Posted June 11, 2014 Posted June 11, 2014 New to the site and to the IL Party here. Kids are getting me back into fishing after a 25+ year absence. Right now just fishing on some local ponds to help get my 2 boys a little more knowledge. Still looking for a nice bass boat that wont break the bank. 1 Quote
tbone1993 Posted June 11, 2014 Posted June 11, 2014 Trip from this past week up to northern wisconsin. We caught a ton of fish and were conscious of taking pictures and releasing the fish quickly. Every fish on or near a bed was netted with an ego pro slider with rubber mesh and released in under a minute. The reason you dont see a 5 fish stringer of 25lb is because they are protected during the spawn and we didnt want to keep them out of the water more than necessary. I have more pictures but they are too big for the uploader to process. 2 Quote

cadman Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 Going to Tichigan tomorrow and Beulah on Sunday. Will post results when I get back. Quote
cadman Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 Well Tichigan, was a slow day. We fished the main lake for 5 hours and only got one 12" walleye and 2 small bass about 12-13". On our way back to the launch we stopped, and started to fish docks. 3rd cast I got a 18-1/2" bass and also two more around 13". My partner got 2 small bass as well. All fish were caught on senko's wacky rigging. Hope tomorrow is better. Quote

We hit Center Lake just north of the border. 8 bass in 5 hours with only one being a keeper. I can't help but think that storm that came thru yesterday had something to do with it. Quote
Super User MarkH024 Posted June 22, 2014 Super User Posted June 22, 2014 I was up north too. Did horrible with only 6 bass and one fat pike. That on and off tstorms made fot a tough bite. Not a great start for the summer. Quote
cadman Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 Well what can I say about Beulah, another consecutive horse$$$t day. Well everything started out slow all the way to the end. Got up at 3:00 a.m. left at 4:00 a.m. and it was so foggy I thought I would get their at noon. 35 mph all the way to the lake. Got on the water at 6:15. Water temp 71 degrees, and couldn't see the lake either. Made are way slowly around the lake about 8: 00 got the first bass 15-3/4 ". 9:00 my wife got a 15-3/4" bass. Fog lifted at 10:30. From then on till 1:00, we got six small fish about 12". It was a horrible day for fishing. I should have stayed home and slept. Next Sunday plan to hit Delavan. You guys are probably right it must have been all the rain, I've never had such bad outings. Quote
cadman Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 My buddy went to Lake Geneva on Sunday and they did much better. On the water at 6:00 a.m., same problem like everywhere else couldn't see 20 feet in front of you. They went to light house point picked up a 16 incher, went over to the narrows, and picked up (2) 19" smallies on top water. Worked that whole shoreline to Cedar Point and picked up 6 more bass between 14"-16". Went over to the old academy and got 2 dinks, and lastly shot over to Trinkies and picked up (1) 16 incher. He told me they had to leave at noon, because boat traffic was so bad, that they had numerous people skiing inside the buoys, apparently this is the worst he's seen as far as disregard for no wake buoy markers. Geneva is really out of hand on the weekend, need to fish it in the middle of the week when everyone else is working. Quote
cadman Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 There is a dumb blond joke in here somewhere:My buddy was waiting to try to load up his boat after fishing Geneva yesterday. So this guy and this woman are launching their boat. Lady gets in the boat, guy backs up and boat floats off of trailer no problem right? Not so fast. Lady drops the anchor in the water to keep the boat from drifting away any further, while blocking the launch. Sits down and is waiting for husband. While everyone is waiting for her to start the boat to get out of the way, she sits there patiently. Husband comes to the dock and realises his wife doesn't know how to start the boat, and is giving her instructions. Lady can't find keys. In the mean time my buddy tells the lady to throw a rope to her husband so they can pull the boat to the dock and tie it up. No rope. Husband takes off his long pants and jumps in water, swims to boat. Gets in boat can't find keys. After watching this patiently enough my buddy takes his rope, motors over and pulls this guys boat back to the dock. My buddy said all of this took an hour. The guy doesn't even thank him. He just can't believe it. As funny as this sounds, I've seen a lot of things at the boat ramp that just makes you wonder, especially on Lake Geneva, when you get some of these guys with the big boats. Just thought a Monday morning chuckle would be good. 1 Quote
Nice_Bass Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 Camped all weekend at Clinton Lake so I was able to be on the water before first light Saturday and Sunday. Put in at campground ramp and ran to cold water end and as I am passing the marina I see there is a tourney about to go off once more light available so I fished three points right off the bat before they were beat up and was able to put a limit in the boat in around 20 minutes. Most likely not a winning limit at around 14 pounds- but a limit nonetheless. I decided at that point to fish for stripers offshore and for the next two hours had the most exciting fishing I have had in years. over 50 fish with a good number of them between 5-10 pounds. Caught another 5-10 15# class channel cats and about a 30# buffalo. I put back in by for breakfast by 9:00. Sunday, just fished for stripers and caught a few less, however all in the same size class and done by 9 again. Storms kept me off in the evenings. All bass on 10 inch powerworms and all stripers and other species on 6in swimbaits and 3/4 oz jigging spoons. 2 Quote
