crankcaster100 Posted April 6, 2014 Posted April 6, 2014 Fished a local pond today No bites but a beautiful day and tried out the new set ups I'm assuming no fish kill since no fish were floating? Quote
cadman Posted April 6, 2014 Posted April 6, 2014 Going out to Long Lake today with my buddy at 11:00. Will let you know how we do when I get back. Quote
Super User slonezp Posted April 7, 2014 Super User Posted April 7, 2014 My son fished the Fox below McHenry Dam yesterday. Haven't talked to him today, but if fishing was good I'm sure he would have texted me a pic. I hope to be on the water by Easter weekend. Been working on the boat and was getting #'s for a new throttle cable to install a hot foot. I pulled the cowl off the motor and things didn't look right. The airbox cover was all jacked up. Waterwerks did my winterization and a halfassed job on other warranty work. I have since been dealing with Lund directly and notified them I will no longer use Waterwerks for anything. I advise you guys to do the same. I know they also used a generic diagnostics program to hack into the Merc computer and failed to notify me of any of the alarms. I dropped the boat off at Wauconda boat who I have used for close to 20 years. He's going to recheck engine diagnostics and see what's up with the cover. I hope nothing is broken. I'm having him install the hot foot and blinker trim as well. Quote
Super User MarkH024 Posted April 7, 2014 Super User Posted April 7, 2014 Good luck with that. Sorry to hear of your troubles, but thanks for the heads up. I hope you gave them an ear full. Quote
Super User slonezp Posted April 7, 2014 Super User Posted April 7, 2014 Good luck with that. Sorry to hear of your troubles, but thanks for the heads up. I hope you gave them an ear full. Yeah. I almost feel bad. When I picked up the boat to find out they did a halfassed job on the warranty repaint, I went off on the guy I bought the boat from. One of their young daughters came in the showroom. I apologized to her(she was about 10). WW took no responsibility for the issue saying it's the body shops fault, even though they picked the body shop to do the work. I contacted Lund directly, and apparently WW told them when they inspected the boat the paint look fine. If you want to read more of the saga and see the pics, go to the Tin Boats forum on BBC and search "Lund paint issues" and "Not a happy camper" Quote
cadman Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 Hey cadman how was the lake? Sorry I was supposed to post yesterday after I got back. Anyway, water temp was 43 degrees when we got there at 10:30 A.M. at 12:00 noon it was 46 degrees. 1/3 of the lake was covered with ice, had to watch to make sure we didn't get blocked in, as the ice was moving on the lake with the wind. Very weird feeling fishing like this. Anyway we were out for 4 hours. Nothing at all not one fish. Did spook a couple of carp in the shallows and saw a couple of them roll on the water surface. That's it. Quote

Did your son mention the water levels down river? Would you be able to ask him if it was low or normal level? Quote
Super User slonezp Posted April 7, 2014 Super User Posted April 7, 2014 I know they're dumping water. Here's the link for the Chain levels http://waterdata.usgs.gov/nwis/uv/?site_no=05547500&agency_cd=USGS Quote

Here's the link for the Chain levels http://waterdata.usgs.gov/nwis/uv/?site_no=05547500&agency_cd=USGS I knew they were dumping also. Below the dam, the levels should be decent but haven't seen it. With that said, why are they dumping water anyways, it's already low and we don't have any sizeable rains coming. This gets so frustrating. Quote
Nice_Bass Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 Caught a couple drum yesterday....at dawson. Figured I did not want to go to clinton with a 75 boat tourney there. Water was 47 surface but I imaging water still bitter a few feet down. Lots of suspended fish out in the basins but no bass caught. Need about a week of good weather and we should be in good shape. Super User slonezp Posted April 8, 2014 Super User Posted April 8, 2014 On Sunday, my son snagged 1 carp LOL. Saw 1 bass caught and heard of 2 more. Quote

Super User MarkH024 Posted April 13, 2014 Super User Posted April 13, 2014 Did a 3 hour wade on the Fox River yesterday. Nothing to report at all. Didnt see any fish and didn't see any bucket heads pulling anything either. Most excitement was losing two lures to snags. Quote

My sons buddy cashed a 2nd place check in a Fox River tourney yesterday. 2 fish @ 3lbs was good enough for second. My son is fishing with him in a tourney on the Chain right now. As of an hour ago they had no fish. I just got back from Wauconda Boat. I dropped off the rest of the parts for the hot foot and blinker trim. I'll be on the water Saturday. 1 Quote
Super User slonezp Posted April 14, 2014 Super User Posted April 14, 2014 They weighed in one bass. Caught a few shorts and a toothy critter Quote
Super User MarkH024 Posted April 14, 2014 Super User Posted April 14, 2014 Well, now I don't feel so bad of my first and only skunk outing. Did "1" bass get them in money? Quote
Nice_Bass Posted April 19, 2014 Posted April 19, 2014 fished a small lake near me (lake Bloomington) yesterday for a couple hours on a buddys boat- found some wipers in pockets/mouths of coves in about 10fow. Most everything I have seen the last couple weeks still suspended over deep drops even with water in the 58degree range. All caught on DD22. water was like chocolate milk though and it was a bit tough but no bass, sm or lm have moved in shallow around here it seems like. 2 Quote
Super User slonezp Posted April 19, 2014 Super User Posted April 19, 2014 Nice hybrid. Got on the water for the first time today. Temp's on the Chain were 48*-54* Found huge schools of panfish and baitfish. No bass. Quote
