Super User slonezp Posted February 21, 2014 Super User Posted February 21, 2014 Please call your senators to vote against SB2696. The state wants to abolish the Fox Waterway agency and give reigns over to the IDNR who has already said In addition, high-ranking Illinois Department of Natural Resources officials said the state is not in a position to assume Fox Waterway Agency duties, including the cost of daily management and staffing of the waterway. http://www.dailyherald.com/article/20140216/news/140218715/ This is my home water and The Fox Waterway agency does a great job at dredging the crap out of the water and keeping the waterway clean. My son is going to send me a link for a petition which I will post when I get it. Quote
Super User slonezp Posted February 21, 2014 Super User Posted February 21, 2014 I cannot help but think this senator has a vendetta against the Fox Chain and won't be happy until it's gone. She, for those of you that don't know, is , I believe, the aunt of the 14yo who was killed on Petite Lake a couple years ago. The same woman who introduced the legislation last year regarding speed limits and suspending drivers licenses, and requiring boater safety courses if you were born after 1980. Quote

Super User slonezp Posted February 23, 2014 Super User Posted February 23, 2014 yea that's what I didn't care for and the constant infomercial on johnnyblures or whatever that thing was. Mark, I sent a message to the Structure Fishing guy on another site. I basically said "Not to be rude but how about less kid and more classroom" This was his response Paul....Glad to see someone requesting more of the classroom! The vast majority of fisherman have never heard of Buck Perry nor have any knowledge of Structure, breaks, breaklines, speed and depth control, weather and water conditions, etc... 95%+ of fisherman think that a pier is structure, or any other object is structure. Nearly all the fisherman/pros that started their career in the 60's and 70's learned from Buck Perry. But "knowledge" does not sell or pay for these shows. Sponsors do. And sponsors just want you to sell their products. That's why the average fisherman is sold a new bag of goods every year. That's why we are told to run out and buy the HOT new lure every year. Most fisherman just want to see fish being caught and want to know what the HOT NEW lure is. It's refreshing to see someone wanting more of the education (classroom). That's why I am posting all classroom segments on the website ( www.structurefishing.com )shortly after they air. The kid (Casey) has really made an impact the last few weeks! It is unusual to see a very young angler on a fishing show catch his share of fish.. and BIG fish too! We have been approached by a couple of very well known sponsors to produce a new show next year exclusively marketed to educate young and new anglers! It will be a busy 2014 working on 2 shows. I'm blessed to have the opportunity to share Buck Perry's teachings. 1 Quote

Super User slonezp Posted February 26, 2014 Super User Posted February 26, 2014 Hi Everyone, I want to Thank all of you for your persistence on working to get bill SB 2696, to dissolve the fox waterway, pulled from today's committee meeting. All of your Witness Slips helped tremendously, but DO NOT stop filling them out, it's a wait and see if Senator Link puts it on for next Tuesdays committee meeting. We can't let our guard down now! WE WON THE BATTLE NOT THE WAR. We all know that loosing local control over our system would have a devastating impact, not only on the entire Chain of Lakes and Fox River system, but also to water quality, property values and to our local economy. I am humbled to see the amount of support the FWA has. We have worked hard to earn it and we will work just as hard to keep it! We all owe a huge THANK YOU to Senator Pam Althoff, Representative Barb Wheeler along with so many others, the list would go on and on, without their efforts in Springfield the FWA's future would surly be in jeopardy!!! My Thanks again to all of you who fought to keep local control of our future! Sincerely, Wayne Blake Chairman Fox Waterway Agency http://funonthefox.com/board/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=22082&start=40 Check their FB page. I don't have FB but I believe that's where my son got the info. 1 Quote

I don't have FB but I believe that's where my son got the info. Well guess what? The bill was cancelled and all the votes against the bill disappeared. Right after this happened, a new bill was created and everybody that voted, will need to vote again. The FWA is in trouble again! Please place your vote again. This was rather sneaky and shameful how it was done! Quote
