Uncle Leo Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 HP restrictions? Yep 25 HP, but I have been on the lake and seen boats with larger motors so I beleive little is done to enforce. Quote
dink Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 25 hp max. East Fork good this time of year with flat A's and lipless baits. Quote
Gale1980 Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 went to sangchris again today the water dropped almost 10 degrees from last week..... it was in the upper 50's to low 60's last week today it was 48-51..... started great caught the first fish in 10 minutes then another 15 or so minutes later! then didnt catch crap for hours......... right before sunset they turned on though and got 8 in less than 30 minuts or so! biggest fish was about 16" so nothing to write home about.... my buddy did catch a turtle though lol!! Gale1980 Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 HP restrictions? Yep 25 HP, but I have been on the lake and seen boats with larger motors so I beleive little is done to enforce. i have been running my 60 but i mainly idle or max about 5mph. just use comon sense if some one is blasting around 60mph im sure someone will call the law Quote
bwell Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 Where are some good area's to fish on this lake? Quote
Gale1980 Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 from what i have seen so far (been there twice) the entire lake is about the same lots of flat bottom with some small trees in the water Quote
justbass2u Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 I'm new to Illinois, live close to a lot of the 25 h.p. lakes. I called DNR and asked what the policy is about running a motor over 25 h.p. You can use the big motor for loading and unloading only. your motor, over 25 h.p. can't be in the water. If caught you will be given a ticket. I guess i will be buying a 25 h.p. 4 stroke mercury. Quote

bwell Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 Go figure I got my buddies wedding on Saturday, but Sunday might have a day of fishing in store for me... Quote
j-bones Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 go figure, lol illinois is prejudice. Gotta wait for shelbyville to thaw out or the cooling lakes to open up. I can tell you this, i have such a bad case of cabin fever i was flippin/pitchin in the backyard w/ the snow still on the ground. Had to play w/ my new curados! Quote
Gale1980 Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 i picked up a curado myself and love it! definitely my favorite reel right now. i will be picking up some more as soon as i can! i have always used shimano spining reels but never a baitcaster till my curado. my 8 year old has a citica that got me to buy a curado after seeing how nice the entry level reel felt. Quote
bwell Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 I have been doing the same thing lol, my neighbors probably think I am nuts... I have been casting my new STX and I am loving this reel, I can actually get my plastics out a ways with reel... Quote
j-bones Posted March 4, 2010 Posted March 4, 2010 I started with a black maxx by abu to see if i wanted to get into it or just stick w/ spinning gear. Decided it was worth investing in one atleast so i picked up my first e7. Without a doubt an awesome reel. This was quite an off season for me. I picked up a abu revo winch for those big ol deep diving crankers and wat not and then came across curados both 5s and 7s for $140 each. Needless to say I bought 3 more lol. Sold one to my buddy and kept the other to for myself. My neighbors already know im crazy, lol. Quote
bwell Posted March 4, 2010 Posted March 4, 2010 I did the same thing, I bought a silver maxx to see if I wanted to get into baitcasting, and I love it. I bought a Pro Qualifier, STX, and have a MM round baitcaster for the big cats... Quote
bwell Posted March 4, 2010 Posted March 4, 2010 Temps in the 50's this weekend, maybe the pond behind my house will be all melted and I can do a little fishing. Quote
