Long Lake, IL fishing report 4-25-2016. Beautiful day out on the water on Sunday. Fishing was really slow. Spoke to several guys on the water during the tourney and only a couple of fish here and there. After the 8 hour tourney, weigh-in time. Winning weight was 10lbs  ? ounces (4 fish).  My wife got a 17-1/2" and 14.25" fish. I got one about 15-1/2" All of our fish were caught on jigs. Winning weight guys said they caught all their fish on chatterbaits. Water temp 58-60 degrees. Water clarity good.

Haha, I dont think I know anyone that was fishing Long on Sunday, but maybe he recognized my name from here.  My real name isn't Allen Der either.  Say Allen Der 3 times fast and you'll figure out the joke.

Long Lake is 5 minutes from my house. Is there a public boat launch or should I launch at Munson marine and take the creek there?

I know nothing about a creek going into Long lake. I do know that there is a small dam that goes out into the chain of lakes and you have to have your boat lifted off of Long Lake Channel and then down to the small creek that goes into the "Chain". Anyway depends on your boat, but I have a Ranger 619VS, and I have no problem launching at Swany's on Wilson Road. Launch is $15.00 If you need more info, I can call you later tonight. PM me your phone number.

How do you all work a swim jig with a paddletail? Like a crankbait or spinnerbait? Is this good for both clear and dirty water? By dirty I'm talking 6" of visibility.

Thx

i just cast it out and real it back holding my rod tip at 2 o'clock. MH Fast. It's a very versatile presentation. The big hammer tail moves a lot of water for a swim bait so I think the fish can track it in dirty water. Bill Lowen has a nice artical  in Bassmaster that you can google.

Northeastern IL, water temp 56...scraped out 8 bass today between 14-16in. on a square bill....happy about it considering cold front. Anyone else do any good this weekend and what are you throwing?

Jeff, enjoy it while you can! Mine used to be joined at my hip, now she's into dance and cheer. The time goes by WAY to quick.

I have yet to catch a bass this year. My son has been hitting the local ponds in lake county and is doing quite well

Hit my local lake tonight and got shot at. Not really shot at but some guy did not like the geese by his beach so went after them with a 22. Ricoctets over my head and a shot landing in water 50 ft from boat. Hello Lake County sheriff. Any chance you can swing by. What a night. Ugh

Slonezp, You headed up this weekend or the next? I'm tentative for next weekend, weather permitting mostly.

I've been doing well at my local ponds, probably 30 bass on Sunday alone with some good size to them, apparently my pictures are too big or I'd post them up

Was able to get 1 nice catch Monday after work at a local pond (5 lbs 2 oz). Picture quality was horrible, sorry.
