I'm heading down to the Kentucky Lake next week to hopefully land some big ones.

Currently the lake is rising, water is muddy and water temps should be around 51-53 degrees.

Any advice? Sounds like they've started catching some nice LM, I'm hoping to also see some big SMs.

I havent been down there this early yet, not sure what to expect.

Any thoughts are appreciated.

Water temp on Sunday was 49.  If we can keep from getting these continous fronts it should warm up above 50 degrees by the time you come down.

It was rougher than I thought it was going to be so I didn't venture out of marina that day.  Caught one solid keeper on a jig, three more bites but missed them all, and one short fish on a crankbait.

I haven't had a whiff on anything else yet.  After this weekend I should be able to give a little better report. :P

I was down there this weekend and did pretty well. Do not plan on fishing the east side of the lake if the winds were like they were this weekend!!! :P that is where all my honey holes are but we did hit some points and i caught one pushing close to or above 8! ;D

It looks like lake levels are stabilizing, then will fall next week. Beautiful day expected on Friday, 79 deg. we are going for it regardless.

If we miss out,  we will return in a couple weeks.

Good day all in all, beautiful weather.

We caught two 5.4 lbers and may be a 20 lb stringer between the three of us. Sporadic, slower bit though.

They were in the back bays, creeks, grass flats and bushes. We used Ratl Traps, chatterbaits,

and spinners. The bite should be better every day know.

Next week could be big.

Keep us updated if you fish anymore this weekend. I'm heading down next Friday. Rumors are that TVA and Corps might drop the lakes as much a 1/2 foot a day starting Monday through the end of the month to get back to normal levels. Hopefully it will get the mud and debris out, but there will be no set pattern that I know of.
