Robinson pond - from the shore about 2 hours ago - silver spinner with green tail 1/8 oz (i will have to double check).

For reference the shoe is about 12 3/8 inches long, (Size 9.5 US)

My best guess is that it was about 23.2 inches and over 7lbs. EDIT - after closer examination/scrutiny by my buddies it looks to be about ~6  :'(

This is biggest bass (by far) i ever caught. I caught two small crappy off the same lure the previous 2 casts. 6lb line - light action rod.

Nice fish. Well at least I know there are fish over 1 lbs in there. Did you catch it from the launch area?

Posted

About 200ft from the launch area....the funny thing is I kept getting bite after bite but was unable to land anything with my medium rod/kinami rubber worms setup. So I switched to the light rod to at least try to catch some small crappy or pickerel. After two small crappy right in a row, this thing came in and took about 30 feet of line in just a couple seconds, (the drag was setup for small fish), luckily he stayed away from all the weeds until he got to shore. I had to get into the water to pull him out, the line just was not strong enough to handle weeds, it ended up breaking as I grabbed it. (6lb low vis green mono).

fyi, the spinner just had one small red treble hook, i will try to take a pic tomorrow of the lure that I used.

Awesome fish. Too bad you didn't have a scale so you could know the weight for sure. A 7lber is a trophy sized fish for our state.

I agree, But they always seem to look bigger then then are. There was a time last year I was for sure it was at least a six pounder and come to find it only weighted four  :-?. Still a great catch SNHUofBass. I have yet to catch one out of Robinson that big  :-/  , So whatever you used worked better then what I am using.

true. im always optamistly off by at least a pound. just got a scale recently and would have thought this fish(the one in my picture at thebottom of my post) was a good 3#er. fish was actualy 1-12.

either way thats a big fish you caught there and i would be proud!!!

Like this one I caught today I thought for sure it was 2lbs, But I was wrong only weighted 1lbs 8oz. It was a good fight for a small fish though. Ended up catching three bass, one pickerel, and a good size perch.

Just got back from Massasecum Lake where we caught 7 fish in a few hours.   All were on senkos and they seemed to be hitting all different colors.  Also have fished Massabesic the past few days with pretty good luck.

Got out today and caught 8 Bass in all. Here is a couple of pictures. One is 4lbs 3oz (nice hawg) :) and the other is 1lbs 11oz (not bad either). Hope everyone has a good weekend fishing.

I just started using senkos and still no luck. Im fishing from shore at Glen Lake, Long Pond, and Massabesic. I've only been fishing for a few years now and as bad as it sounds, I normally use mepps for bass. But im on a senko mission as I have still not caught anything by t-rigging them in like 8 hours of fishing. Whats the trick with the senko? I have been tossing it out' twitching rod, letting down then reeling it in slowly... Is there a trick to them? and where is this mill pond or another good shore fishing spot, I live in manchester

texas rigged, weightless.

if your shore fishing, try to find a spot on shore so you are furthure out in the water, then cast down the side of the bank. try to keep the worm 1'-4' from the bank.

cast anywhere you see lilypads.

mill pond is in nashua, google it. also try the canal that is attached to it.

our secret to catching fish has been to go as much as posible. good luck.

What I do is throw it out there near cover and let it fall. I do not twitch the rod at all or reel it in. I just watch the line and if there is a bass near by it will hit it and run, then I set the hook. I rig all mine weightless t-rig. I know you are fishing from the shore, But look or ask someone with a depth finder where there are drop offs to. Hope this helps.

Nashua Fisherman -

How is mills pond in nashua. I live in hudson and have been trying to find a good spot to go fishing for the past month or so. I have tried beaver lake in derry, hoods pond in derry, Mines falls by the d**n, nashua river in a buddies boat a few times with not much luck at any of these spots. Also tried musquash, and the small pond behind the hudson speedway.

I have been fishing the small ponds in the industrial park by haffners with great luck with small mouths.

Id like to find some good places to go that I can access from shore. Don't have a boat yet.

To all others i have been having great luck with berkley gulp, june bug colored worms as well as numerous different senko's wacky rigged and weighless.

mill pond in nashua was great earler in the year, but last time i went i didnt catch anything. whatever you use in there will have to be weedless. the weeds are getting thicker by the day. the fish in my picture was caught at mill pond.

ive fished the nashua river twice this year but only caught one fish. my neibor took his boat there last sunday and only caught a crappie and a yellow perch.

ive shore fished beaver lake in derry by the side of the road a couple times but never caught anything.

my wife caught a bass on our boat at musquash in april, but i doubt its even fishable now with the lilypads grown in. eayers pond in hudson is simular to musquash weed/ depth wise, but we havent caught anything there. bet there is at least pickeral there though.

there are at least 3 ponds in bensons park. i caught a big pickeral in the pond to the left a few weeks ago.(atleast 2-1/2#'s)

if you look at google maps there is a pond off of bush hill road(10 minute walk into the power lines) in hudson that has some shore fishing area's. my wife caught a 2# pickeral there. check yourself for ticks afterwards.

there is limited shore fishing at robinson and otternic in hudson. ive caught bass at both but on the boat.

last year i caught what i belive to be the only bass behind hudson speedway. fish the speedway side where the water comes in. let me know if you catch that fish, he should be over a pound now.

you can shore fish flints pond in hollis, but there only a couple open spots.

if you can find a way to shore fish the pond at brox sand and gravel let me know. seems like they are alway open and the signs say no tresspassing.

theres also pennachuck water works off tinker road. havent caught anything there but i here theres big ones there and it gets better later in the evening.

are you talking about the pond behing the telegraph?

weve tried a couple different berkley products without any luck. all i can say is "I AM STRIKE KING"

unhbass is the guy you should really ask. he the guy who catches the numbers.

Ya I am talking about the pond next to the telegraph. I work for semikron so I can fish on lunch and after work all the time. There are some bigger ones in their however be careful. I know my work as well as the telegraph if they see you fishing will tell you to leave.

Thats too bad about mills pond it looked and sounded promising. I guess the nashua river is really starting to pick up. Me on the other hand don't have a boat so its a bummer to get out to the good spots. Hopefully by the end of the summer I can pick up a good jon boat with motor or inflatable to get out there.

I have also tried on 102 at the top of the hill heading towards londonderry THE QUARRY pond. This useto be stocked heavily and I hear from a lot that there is really good fishing in their. However the past few times I have gone their came back shaking my head.

Also a good spot is on west rd in londonderry. If you head down heading twoards whily hill rd on the left you can walk in sort of by the powerlines and theres 2 bass ponds back there. I hear there really good spots.

I assume if you live in Hudson you know Robinson pond. I have always pulled bass from there, But no hawgs yet. Shore fishing is tough, But they can be caught for sure. A guy just caught a hawg shore fishing at robinson last week. I know one thing if I was just shore fishing my go to lures would be a senko or Jig. Where is this place you fish by the telegraph? If it's TOP SECRET thats ok. PM me if you want to give out the directions. If you are looking for a good inflatable get this model Intex Mariner 4 Boat Set w/Oars & Pump 4 Person - 880 lbs Payload it has wood floors so you can stand up and fish. Nice boat for the money. Don't worry about holes, Because I have hooked the boat and hit stumps and no leaks. It has a heavy cover that protects the air chambers. I have had this boat for 2 years and love the thing. If you want hook up a trolling motor to the back like I did, Just get the motor mount and trolling motor. It's not as big as a Jon boat, But it will get you out there.

well, curiosity got the best of us and we went to all 3 ponds by the telegraph tonight. the telegraph side is now posted "no tresspassing". it wasnt like this last year when i tried it. we fished for about 45 minutes(8-8:45). my wife got 3 strikes and i had 1 hit but we couldnt get anything to shore. we saw a couple fish hit the surface and were wishing we had brought some floating minnows.

theres nothing wrong with mill pond, the weeds are just getting thick. there is a path around the whole pond. fish every spot you can get access to.

we have fished the 2 ponds off west road twice and not had any luck.

is it possible to put a boat in the quarry pond?

unhbass, the nashua telegraph is in the industrial park behind tire wharehouse in hudson. if you pull in there parking lot you will see one of the ponds( the one that is posted). if you go to the opther side of the pond you will see the other one. the 3rd pond is down the street on the left.

Wonder if anyone has tried Green Pond in Merrimack NH? I just found it by searching around. I know nothing about it, But if it's fishable let's give it a try. It may be private so I'm not sure. It's on Greens pond Rd.

Posted

My buddy heads out there on lunch breaks at work sometimes. He's caught a couple of bass there he says.

I thought it was private, but he said it wasn't.

If i get a chance I might check it out since it's only a couple of minutes from my office

Not far for me either I may give it a shot. Where have you had the best luck for smallmouth? I would like to take my little guy fishing and he has never caught a smallmouth yet.

Posted

Nashua Fisherman, you must have just missed me last night. I was fishing here until about 6:30 or 7. Then we went and hit mines falls, mills pond towards the inlet into the nashua and around the boat launch at the river. No luck. At work however I caught one ok small mouth. probably under a pound but still fun. Caught using a white 5" senko.

btw - the pond closest to the street has been the one time and time again im pulling bass out about that size. One guy last week on lunch had one that was easily 3-4lbs using a spoon daredevil.

HINT: if you want to fish these ponds wait until the businesses are closed for the night or come on the weekend and you will have no problem. If you see a red xterra you will probably bump into me fishing. Good Luck!
