troutguy Posted October 18, 2010 Posted October 18, 2010 Nashua Neverett Have you caught anything down there since fall has set in or was it more late summer. I have been going out every so often but have barely even gotten a follow up or a bite. If its worth trying ill have to give it a shot maybe this week. Quote
Nashua Nev Posted October 19, 2010 Posted October 19, 2010 It has been 2 weeks since i have been over at the pennichuck. spent sunday afternoon at bensons ponds in hudson and the sunday before at the dam /gatehouse behind stellos the last 2 wed afternoons i have had good luck from shore at turtle pond in loudon the pennichuck has been great for me before that especially as it starts to get dark throwing the black jitterbug and walking it in at a very slow but steady pace. i typically stay about a 1/2 hour after i cannot see anymore. these days thats about 6:30 - 8pm. Mornings have also been ok but not as good as night time. In the morning i have been throwing a pop-r i painted red which is something an old timer told me to try. The red seem like it has also been better for pickerel. Quote
Super User deaknh03 Posted October 21, 2010 Super User Posted October 21, 2010 Nashua, the bensons pond is accessible by just walking in? I live 5 minutes away and it would be a quick place for me to cast a couple off the shore. Quote
Nashua Nev Posted October 21, 2010 Posted October 21, 2010 yes , just walk right in. go right and right you will see swan pond on the left. i have caught fish at both ends and all thru the middle. also at the far end under the fence if your small enough to get thru i had some good hits in there playing with rubber worms but i wasnt able to hook anything wed morning. Super User deaknh03 Posted October 21, 2010 Super User Posted October 21, 2010 where do you park? Quote
Nashua Nev Posted October 21, 2010 Posted October 21, 2010 comong from nashua on route 111 i take a right at burger king intersection onto kimball hill road . a few hundred feet down the road is a right with an open gate. park right there after you go thru the gate into the dirt parking lot. it is actually the animal farm old parking lot or part of it anyway the is another parking lot for handicap only a little further up the road all paved. have fun save the big ones for me. let me know how you did if you go Quote
Super User deaknh03 Posted October 21, 2010 Super User Posted October 21, 2010 awesome, thanks!! i remember going to that place as a kid and I have lived up the road for years, never knew there was bass in there!! Quote
Nashua Nev Posted October 24, 2010 Posted October 24, 2010 no luck for me this past week. nothing at bensons , nothing at the gatehouse dam area , nothing in the pennichuck. anyone else try Quote
troutguy Posted October 26, 2010 Posted October 26, 2010 i have got out nearly as much as was going a few weeks ago. Since the bite drastically slowed down I really havent had the urge to get out in the cold and get skunked, but i was thinking about trying this place bensons park in hudson. Passed it this past weekend actually looks like a descent spot. The gatehouse area wasnt bag the last few times i went. Though it wasnt great i did manage a few small bass. Anyone else have any luck in the past week or two? Quote
Super User Shane J Posted October 26, 2010 Super User Posted October 26, 2010 Been pretty rough with the major front, and real cold temps, but I have grabbed a few here and there. I went ahead and winterized the boat already, so no more big water for me until spring, but I'll keep the jon boat in action until water freezes. Quote
Waylo Posted October 26, 2010 Posted October 26, 2010 Anybody know how fishing is in Gumpas pond in Hudson and if there is a launch? Quote
Super User deaknh03 Posted October 26, 2010 Super User Posted October 26, 2010 Waylo, I think Gumpas is in Pelham and I dont believe it is open to the public. Quote
jaystraw Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 Hey Guys, managed to get out in the Nitro yesterday afternoon in that beautiful weather. Probably the last time before I winterize it. Managed to catch a couple 2 pounder largemouth in 2 hours. It was so nice to be out there catching fish!! Quote
Super User Shane J Posted October 27, 2010 Super User Posted October 27, 2010 Nice, Jay! Yeah, it must've been great being out there yesterday! Quote
jaystraw Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 Nice, Jay! Yeah, it must've been great being out there yesterday! It really was. It felt like summer! Water temps were 55 degrees in case anyone was curious. Quote
Super User Shane J Posted October 27, 2010 Super User Posted October 27, 2010 Actually, I was curious. No electronics on the jon boat. Thanks. Quote
jaystraw Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 No problem. It does feel like we got shafted on the fall fishing this year. After the hot summer, I was dying for fall. The really cold weater kinda screwed us. Oh well...I'm already dreaming of spawn. Quote
Super User Shane J Posted October 28, 2010 Super User Posted October 28, 2010 Me too, Jay. Me too! Quote
fmoore Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 Hey Guys, managed to get out in the Nitro yesterday afternoon in that beautiful weather. Probably the last time before I winterize it. Managed to catch a couple 2 pounder largemouth in 2 hours. It was so nice to be out there catching fish!! I got out there too on Tuesday. Fishing was just so-so but it's not often you get to fish without a shirt on in October! Hoping to fish through late Nov.... And I agree about this fall being bad. The whole year really has been a little weird. Quote
Super User Shane J Posted October 31, 2010 Super User Posted October 31, 2010 Today I went out in the crazy wind for a couple hours. The fish were on! They were crushing my swim jig/Rage Baby Craw today! Big fish of the day was 6lbs 6oz, and my second biggest of the year. Quote
jaystraw Posted October 31, 2010 Posted October 31, 2010 Nice Hawg Shane!! way to get 'um!!! I drove by a couple lakes this afternoon and it looked windy out there. Good for you for braving it and it paying off!! Quote
Super User deaknh03 Posted November 3, 2010 Super User Posted November 3, 2010 Dude those are sweet fish!! I'm jealous, I usually go out until almost ice over but my wife and I just had another baby and thats keeping me off the water. Quote
Super User Shane J Posted November 3, 2010 Super User Posted November 3, 2010 Thanks! I'm gonna head out again Saturday, so we'll see how it goes. Oh, and Deak, at least your priorities are in order! Congrats on the new addition to the family! Quote
Super User deaknh03 Posted November 17, 2010 Super User Posted November 17, 2010 anybody still going out? the weather hasn't been too bad.. Quote
Super User Shane J Posted November 17, 2010 Super User Posted November 17, 2010 I went shore banging for a couple hours, and caught 2 bass about 1 3/4lb, and 2 pickerel. All on a green pumpkin Bitsy Bug jig/baby craw. It was nice in between rain bursts. Quote
