Nashua Nev Posted October 11, 2010 Posted October 11, 2010 went out tonight to the dam again, right as darkness was falling. 6pm - 7:15pm 4 small smallmouth off of the small jitterbug in the hour or so. Quote
jaystraw Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 Glad to see there are still a few of us out there! I got out yesterday with my buddy Matt. It was really cold and windy in the AM, butthe bite was not terrible. I caught 4 and he caught 1 oveer the course of the morning. If we had a chance to fish the afternoon I think it would have been better. I caught most of mine on tubes and a KVD Swim Jig in Green Pumpkin. cold, but worth it! Quote
Super User Shane J Posted October 12, 2010 Super User Posted October 12, 2010 Yeah, Jay, that swim jig bite would have picked up for you in the afternoon warmth. Glad to hear you got on some! Quote

Super User Shane J Posted October 13, 2010 Super User Posted October 13, 2010 Alright, Derek. I look forward to another outing when it warms up. I usually bring my boat out first, so maybe I can get ya out on the Nitro for some smallies in the Merrimack while we wait for the rest of the water to thaw in March. Later, bro. Quote
Nashua Nev Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 For any of you guys that put away your bigger boats. or dont have one. My canoe 12 ft (no motor) and 12 foot jon boat electric or gas 4 hp are available most days with or without trailer. It spent a lot of time in the back of my pick up. I live in Nashua off of exit 6. troutguy Posted October 14, 2010 Posted October 14, 2010 So with the season winding down I was wondering if anyone knew of any spots in the nashua area where you could catch some pike. I saw that Naticook held pike, but I really wasnt sure. Quote

fmoore Posted October 17, 2010 Posted October 17, 2010 Wilson Pond in Swanzey, Spofford Lake (which is now closed to fishing for the season) and the CT River. Everything grows big in the river, the pike in Spofford feast on the stocked trout and there are tons of bite sized bluegill and perch in Wilson Pond. Quote
nashua fisherman Posted October 17, 2010 Posted October 17, 2010 thank you fmoore. wilson pond is about an hour and twenty minute drive for me. is that where you caught that giant pike you caught earlyer this year. Quote
Nashua Nev Posted October 17, 2010 Posted October 17, 2010 the best of the season off of tinker road. unfortunately had no scale Quote
fmoore Posted October 17, 2010 Posted October 17, 2010 thank you fmoore. wilson pond is about an hour and twenty minute drive for me. is that where you caught that giant pike you caught earlyer this year. Yea...The real big fish are in Spofford and the River, though. I know for sure of pike up to 15 pounds (maybe bigger?) in Wilson Pond, but of course there are a few 20 or close to 20 caught on the river in Hinsdale every year. Spofford used to hold the state record, so fish over 20 in there too. All three fisheries have excellent largemouth fishing, and Spofford is an amazing smallmouth fishery on top of the largies. Wilson gets absolutely hammered by the ice fishermen, which is too bad. Really puts a damper on the fishery. Don't get me wrong, I ice fish every chance I get. But there have been some interesting surveys taken in SW NH that found that the majority of ice fishermen will keep an 18" or bigger bass. That's just not good for the fishery any way you cut it. Somehow, Wilson Pond still manages to be an excellent little pond. I'm afraid it will be on the decline in a few years though if the pressure keeps up. Quote

nhbassin13 Posted October 18, 2010 Posted October 18, 2010 nashua neverett was that tinker rd bass caught at the d**n by tinker rd at thorton rd or else where. i have shore fished all those pennichuck ponds with no great luck?? Quote
Nashua Nev Posted October 18, 2010 Posted October 18, 2010 We , (myself and my 11 yr old) have had great luck all season (august was slow) in most of the pennichuck area water. The bridge directly on Tinker road, just before the 4 corner intersection as well as taking a right after the bridge and going down the road a bit and walking thru the woods. I have been fishing there a lot this year and have also been taking my son to the same places my dad took me. also to the right where they are doing construction near the bridge that goes over the hwy. right now its easy to walk that complete area. Most of my fish i have caught using top water stuff, especially a black jitterbug. I started trying to use rubber worms and lizards this year and caught some fish with them, but i am finding them tough to fish with. Patience i do not always have but i am trying. Green and black 4 inch lizards is what i have been using. also across the bridge from the dam directly in the middle of the weeds and pads on both sides. i have learned to use braided line thru these pads and a weedless jitterbug or floating lizard. I am no expert ACTUALLY VERY very from from it i only started fishing again this year after many years of not. I HAVE LEARNED A LOT A REAL LOT from the other guys on this website. I only know what has been working for me this year and i have been playing with a lot of the stuff i learned. I also relearned i really love fishing top water. I have never had anyone say anything to us about fishing in any of these areas. Even walking down those roads with fishing poles past the houses. Also the new part they paved some new roads straight thru the 4 way intersection staying on tinker, there is some good access there now to the left down the dirt and now paved roads going right to the water, although next year that access may be gone with the new houses sure wish i could wade or put a canoe in there.
