unhbass37 Posted August 20, 2010 Author Posted August 20, 2010 I have someone else coming with me or you could come with me. Just to crammed to fish with 3. Quote
unhbass37 Posted August 20, 2010 Author Posted August 20, 2010 Wind killed me today. One 1.2 LMB at Lake Masabesic in an 1 hour. Anyone else get out today? May try somewhere later if the wind dies down. > > > Quote
Nashua Nev Posted August 20, 2010 Posted August 20, 2010 I dont know who , but a few guys were putting in 2 flat bottom boats this morning about 5:30 at mill pond as i was rolling in for my hockey game. Quote
NHBASSMASTER Posted August 20, 2010 Posted August 20, 2010 I went at 8am to try and get onto Bowers pond, I find a place to launch and a truck comes down and says that I cannot go onto the water as it is Pennichuck property and used for drinking water for the town of Merrimack. Well shucks! It happens. So then I tried to find the launch for the Merrimack River in Nashua across from Greeley Park, there is now logs put on that dirt road so you cannot drive down it. So then I figured I'd try Ottarnic Pond, since I was close and curious. Man, what a mistake, should have stayed at home. Not only were there white caps on this small 30ish acre pond, but the milfoil and coontails have eaten this place alive! The board said that they did some weed killing recently and I can honestly say that it did nothing. Caught a dink bucket, pickerel and a big yellow perch. The wind was bad, so I said screw it and came home. I'm hitting Onway Lake in Raymond very early tomorrow morning with my bro in law. Fishing until about 3pm-ish. My pops pulled an 8.79lbs bucket out last week. 8-) I'll let ya know how it goes! Quote
Nashua Nev Posted August 20, 2010 Posted August 20, 2010 I will check out the merr river launch on my way home. It was clear yesterday You may possibly have the wrong entrance. Right at the store coming from downtown , at the bottom of the hill go left for 300 feet and take a right , go over the railroad tracks and take another right (dirt road with open gate) follow it straight to the end it then curves and turns back the same distance and you are at the water. ill drive by tonight if i remember Quote
Kevin McG Posted August 20, 2010 Posted August 20, 2010 Anybody fish Flints(Hollis) lately? I am think of putting the kayak into some water in a few hours and was thinking I would give it a shot. Quote

I hope it helps that great little pond. It's a shame to see it that bad. I played D1 hockey in HS and played for a while after till my little guy stated. Now I focus all the attention on him. He is nine now (Squirt level) and takes up a ton of my time. He plays pretty much year round on elite teams. Fun times watching him play. We will have to get together sometime and fish. My youngest is the fisherman as well. Derek Quote
unhbass37 Posted August 21, 2010 Author Posted August 21, 2010 Well me and my boys got out to Lake Massasecum in Bradford and we caught 4 total. Nothing over 2 lbs though. Lake is pretty good, But shallow in most areas. There were 10 boats total fishing and I did get a chance to talk to 4 of them and they were struggling as well. I assume no rain has not helped. Was hoping to nail some smallies, But it was a ghost town in there LOL. Been tough for us this year, But we will keep it.. Quote
jaystraw Posted August 22, 2010 Posted August 22, 2010 the smallie bite has been tough this year. Most have moved deep, and are tough to find.  Massesecum has a good pupulaton, but it gts pretty darn busy. I managed to have a good morning yesterday. Caught 6 SMB's from 7-11am. One was about 3 pounds, and was the biggest smallie I've caught this year since spawn. Most were caught on tubes, lizards or senkos. Quote

We were using all senkos. Quote
jaystraw Posted August 22, 2010 Posted August 22, 2010 No, I was at the Deering Reservior . I wanted to go to Massesecum, but I knew there was a tourney there yeserday so I stayed away. I thnk I've only caught one or two smallies at Massesecum lately. Slow summer overall for me with the bigger SMB's. I've been loving Yaamoto or Gitizit tubes on an 1/8th oz jig head. It seems like the fish this year are having a tough time resisting it, especially earlier in the moring. Yesterday they were in about 15 FOW, hitting it on the fall. The biggest SMB came on a senko tossed under an overhanging tree above 3 FOW...go figure! Quote
NHBASSMASTER Posted August 22, 2010 Posted August 22, 2010 Ahhh! I see where the launch is now for the Merrimack. If you go down Hills Ferry Road, there is a small dirt road when you take the first 90deg left turn, that's where I thought others were talking about. I didn't keep going past the first 90deg left turn, I see on Google maps where it is now. Thanks for the help! Quote
Nashua Nev Posted August 22, 2010 Posted August 22, 2010 anyone know whats happening at flints pond in hollis? i stopped by as i was passing thru today , just to see how bad the wed were and they are doing somedigging in the water at the boat launch areas Quote
unhbass37 Posted August 22, 2010 Author Posted August 22, 2010 I believe they are doing a clean up on that pond. Next they need to get rid of all the pickerel. That place is loaded with them. Quote
fmoore Posted August 22, 2010 Posted August 22, 2010 Glad to see everyone's doing well and catching fish. I've been on vacation and haven't touched a freshwater rod in 2 weeks. The idea of catching a bunch of fish around 3 pounds just doesn't seem all that exciting anymore Been doing too much of this kinda stuff: Quote
Super User Shane J Posted August 22, 2010 Super User Posted August 22, 2010 That's cool, Fmoore. Good to see you back. Quote
Triple D Posted August 23, 2010 Posted August 23, 2010 Was finally able to make it out today. First time in almost a week. Went to the Wilton resevoir caught six LM biggest just under 3#. Hoping to get out more this week! Quote
NHBASSMASTER Posted August 23, 2010 Posted August 23, 2010 Well the trip to Onway Lake was some what successful. Caught only a few fish in the 6hrs we were there, but they were big fish. Both fish were a hair over 5lbs. That's what I've heard about that lake anyways. Overall, nice little pond tucked away in Raymond. Some camps on the pond and pretty clear water. The coontails and mil foil hasn't taken over, which is nice to see. I would go back there. It poses the age old question, "would you rather catch a few "big fish" during your trip or a lot of "little fish"? Some pics below. We went to Lake Massabesic on the way home for a few hours and only caught about 10 between the two of us, only a few were keepers. I can't believe how low that lake is. Judging by the lines on the rocks, it looks to be about 3-4ft low! I couldn't believe it. Saw a guy in a canoe at the launch, who doesn't look like he fishes very often, who kept and killed a nice 5lb+ largemouth. Sad to see and I didn't ask what he was going to do with it, but I overheard him telling others it was the biggest bass he'd ever even seen. To each his own I guess. Quote

No need to kill a bass period. Take a picture and measure it and they can reproduce a replica of the fish. > If I saw that I would of voiced my opinion that's for sure. Quote
NHBASSMASTER Posted August 23, 2010 Posted August 23, 2010 Funny you say that, me and my brother in law said the same EXACT thing. It's pathetic. If you were going to eat a bass for some reason, that is a different subject. As far as I could tell, there were no intentions to eat it. Also, as we were riding back to the launch, there was a couple in a boat, he saw our rods and knew we were fishing. He pulled up about a 3lb largemouth that was sitting on the bottom of his boat, so I'm guessing he was doing the same and keeping it for some reason. Quote
