unhbass37 Posted August 1, 2010 Author Posted August 1, 2010 Well my son and I just got back from Knops pond in Groton, MA and it was horrible fishing. We only managed 3 small bass in 3 hours out there. I was told my the locals that there are many 3 pounders and a few 8 pounders in there, But I sure didn't find any. It may of been just the day to. The pond is an average of 3.5 to 4.0 feet deep and loaded with milfoil and fanwart which makes it really tough to find them. Just wanted to share some info to anyone thinking of trying it out. Quote
badcrawdad Posted August 1, 2010 Posted August 1, 2010 Got out today with my son for about 4 hours and caught a WHOPPING 63 LMB. I'm not kidding either. Best day I have had on the water this year. My biggest was 4 lbs even and my sons was just under 2lbs. All bass were over a pound. What a awesome day. Loved the wind today. :) Here are just a few pictures. That friggin awesome UNH! To bad we all cant have days like that. Quote
unhbass37 Posted August 1, 2010 Author Posted August 1, 2010 Thanks. We hit that place when we know we will catch fish. LOL. That pond is a small private farm pond and to be honest it is loaded with bass. They very rarely see any baits so it is fun. Quote
Nashua Nev Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 I made it to naticook this morning for a few by myself just before 6 am , the little guy didnt want to go. managed to catch 8 all under 12 inchs and 1 pickerel just barely under 20 inchs. had to cut thru the fog with a knife. i am starting to get the hang of fishing with those rubber worms. Is this normal for naticook ? Any one had any luck at horseshoe pond in merrimack nh. Any other places i should try in the nashua area ? Quote

Naticook is a waste of time to be honest as well as Horseshoe pond. I use to fish them both. Check out flint's pond in Hollis or Flints pond in tyngsboro. Hope that helps. Quote
nashua fisherman Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 flints in hollis is probably too overgrown to fish now. ide assume flints in tyngsboror is the same. its been a while since ive posted, but last tuesday i caught a 4.5# bass in the nashua river above the mines falls d**n and three weeks ago i caught a 4.2# at lake potanipo in brookline. potanipo is open to the wind so bring an anchore. i got my big one to the right of the beach between the red marker and the pads. if you look down in the water and see an old wooded bridge your in the right spot. i heard forge pond in westford is pretty hot now but i havent been there yet. i got out behind margarita's d**n(nashua river) tonight and caught 9 smallies and a rock bass. nothing big but it was fun for a 1 hour trip. everything on a gold mepps spinner. derek, great job with your son at secret pond. i believe we caught 40 a peice when we went. let me know when you want to go fishing. im back online now. unhbass37 Posted August 3, 2010 Author Posted August 3, 2010 Nice Tom. Glad to see your back online. I will be in touch. I just picked up a 10' Jon boat to. No more inflatable for me. Got out today at BIP with my boys and did really well (7 total). He caught his first SMB so he was very excited. No biggy's but at least it was great action. Found them all out deep (12 to 18') off the rocks. Fun times. Hope everyone is doing well also. Quote
badcrawdad Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 I hit turtle pond in concord for the first time since since late april/ early may. I had been skipping it cause the milfoil was so thick. It seems like it must have been treated for it cause it wasn't bad at all today. Fished from 3-8ish. Hauled in 13 LM, with 4 of them between 3 and 3.5lbs the rest were around 2lbs. No pics today but I have found my new favorite bait. The rage tail EELIMINATOR. For me and the bass it was love at first sight. Thanks Shane for setting me up with her. The last time I went fishin I got a couple with it and today right from the first cast it was producing. all 13 LM and 2 pickeral from the eeliminator. I hope this keeps up! Quote
Super User Shane J Posted August 3, 2010 Super User Posted August 3, 2010 Yeah, man, no problem! It was a good time out there today, but ended up with no fish, probably cuz I brought my buddy to that place for the first time. He ended up with a descent 5 fish bag, and his best day fishing of the year. At least somebody was catchin' 'em today! I did lose two good fish, though. Next stop is gonna be Turkey Pond. Quote
jaystraw Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 nice pics dude! That is one happy child!! Nice work!! Quote
badcrawdad Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 well I just got back from fishing Gorham pond in Dunberton. First time there in about 12 yrs. Not my day. Took an old friend of mine there and he absolutely crushed me, 13-3. nothing but dinks, biggest might have been 1.25lb. Definetly my worse beating in years. I'm gonna blame it on being very hungover and on 2.5hrs of sleep. Oh well still a fun morning. Anybody ever fish Purgatory Pond in Dunbarton? I stsrted fishing there 3yrs ago and the place was awesome. Always catch a good # of bass, and quite a few between 4 and 6.5 lbs. also alot of giant sunfish around and over 1lb. Last year #'s dropped of a bit but still good. This year the place is killing me. I had 1 good day there prespawn. In 5 or 6 trips since its been 1 fish per trip and 2 the other day. I don't get it, where'd they all go! Quote
Kevin McG Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 Hi Guys, anybody know if Little Island Pond in Pelham has an access spot? I noticed at the end of Girl Scout Rd. there maybe a way to launch but wanted to check before making the drive Friday Thanks Guys!! Quote
baboosicbass08 Posted August 5, 2010 Posted August 5, 2010 Hey guys, haven't been on in awhile hope everyones been having luck. Got out sunday for only about the 4th time this year Got out with a buddy to a pond in Washington, NH and he almost came up empty for the day but finally managed a pretty decent smallie at the end of the day. Quote
Super User Shane J Posted August 5, 2010 Super User Posted August 5, 2010 Nice ones! I was scrolling down on your picture, and was like "yeah, nice smallie to beat the skunk" then I got down to the second one, and was like "daaamn!" Sweet double. Quote

Without ever seeing the pond I'd be looking for good weedbeds in deeper water. Fish them slowly during the day. Finesse fishing deep during summer = bigger fish and better numbers. Just my 2 cents. unhbass37 Posted August 5, 2010 Author Posted August 5, 2010 Got out today with my son for almost 2 hours and caught a few. Here is a picture of my son's 2lbs 1 oz. I caught one 2 pounds even. We were at Steven's pond in ManchVegas. Not bad for a couple of hours. Quote
badcrawdad Posted August 5, 2010 Posted August 5, 2010 Is that the one next beside I-93 or the one across the street from the backroom on 28? If youre at the one across from 28 watch out for the enormous turtle! I was there once with my old canoe and it went under canoe where it was 3ft wide. I saw its nose before I lost sight of its tail!! He was huge!! Quote
