nashua fisherman Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 Hey guys! kinda off topic but I've been buying my supply's at Sports Authority but I was wondering if there was a better place local to Nashua? I remember when I was a kids Kmart was the place but don't think those are around anymore in this area(maybe Amherst St).Just wanted to ask before making a trek to 6 different stores wasting my time Oh and I am hoping to get out today, I was "tipped off" by a co-worker on a pond near Lovewell in Hollis. we get 99% of our gear from sports authority and walmart. theres also a guy in nashua, nashua rod&reel i think, that has alot of good stuff. Fished Lovewell pond this afternoon, caught about 6-7 black crappie but nothing else Caught my 1st fish on a senko though,Texas rigged.I really need to get out on that pond with a boat, I can't even imagine the bass that are in that place. If anybody with a canoe or flatbottom wants to head out let me know, I'll help lug the boat of course if you are really just targeting bass you might be wasting your time at lovewell. i have fished there quite a bit and never caught a bass there. it is a great crappie pond though. if you follow the road lovewell is on a little further you will see some boulders on the same side of the road. there are some trails there and if you follow them down the is a small pond that has easy access all the way around. it is full of small bass. it is in dunstable, ma. although it doesnt have a name, we call it "bass pond". you will know your there when you see all the dog crap from people not picking it up when they wlk there dogs there. <http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&q=lovewell+pond+nashua&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=Lovewell+Pond&ll=42.700573,-71.523507&spn=0.011606,0.02738&t=h&z=16> Quote

nashua fisherman Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 thats the place. im not advocating breaking the law, but we used to fish there quite a bit before we had our liscences. never seen any cops there, just people walking there dogs. the best spots are near the beaver dams. watch out for the black water snakes, there pretty aggresive. lots of sunnies in there too. nashua fisherman Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 Thanks for the heads up on locations for supply's, I actually haven't been targeting bass as of yet, I actually LOVE catching those crappies  Back to top  np. weve had our best luck for crappie using charctuce(yellow) strikeking mini-king 1/8oz spinnerbaits. you can also float a charctuce jig/grub under a bobber when its windy. that drives them nuts. Kevin McG Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 Kevin I go to either Walmart or Granite State Rod and Reel. I assume you are going to Rocky Pond. Last time was there all the bass were very thin, Like they were starving. Hope things got better over there. Good luck. Nashua rod and reel looks to be a private residence?appointment only? Only a mile from my house though Quote
unhbass37 Posted May 14, 2010 Author Posted May 14, 2010 no appointment needed. I go there all the time. He does run it from his home, But in the garage area. He has alot of stuff walmart doesn't. Great guy also. Quote
unhbass37 Posted May 14, 2010 Author Posted May 14, 2010 Was able to get out to Flints for a couple of hours early AM. I caught 3 bass and one pickerel. Biggest was this nice 3lbs 7oz. My first decent bass of the year... :)Â All bass were caught with trick sticks and tight to cover. Quote

unhbass37 Posted May 14, 2010 Author Posted May 14, 2010 Thanks. I didn't see any, but the milfoil is taken over so they would be hard to see. Quote
montrose Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 Hitting Bow Lake tomorrow morning - early. I'm predicting some good topwater action and plenty of smallies. Quote
nashua fisherman Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 Thanks. I didn't see any, but the milfoil is taken over so they would be hard to see. last time we were there i was wondering if it was even possible for them to spawn in those coditions. nice catch. Quote
Super User deaknh03 Posted May 14, 2010 Super User Posted May 14, 2010 yeah, Granite state rod and reel is great, he has some cool stuff and he is a great guy. he repaired a reel of mine while i waited and only charged me $5. Quote
jaystraw Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 Nice job UNHBass. I knew you would start nailing 'em! Nice hog of a pike!!! Tell your buddy that's a little better than "stocky" fmoore After catching 5 bass in the Get together yesterday, I noticed the weather was getting really nice with no wind in the afternoon. I decided to go smallmouth bed fishing. Left the get together, drove home and dropped off the nitro, picked up the canoe and trolling motor, got on the water by 3:30pm, and caught about 15 smallies from 4:00pm-7:00pm. I caught most of them off their beds with senkos, but a couple were hanging around deeper boulders. Here's a pic of the first one: Here is a pic of the beautiful day just before sunset: Quote
eloo Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 Nice smallie jaystraw.Out on Turee pond last eve.4 LMB and a bunch of pickerel on wacky rigged senkos. But the highlight of the eve was my little fishing "buddy" a small otter who was tagging along for about 10 min.In retrospect, should have fed him some of the pickerel! FishingOnTheEdge Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 Hey guys Im new to the forums but i plan on adding alot to this section this year. I have a few pics from Chestnut Pond in Epsom that I got this year with a buddy. I also will get a few from Turtletown in Concord when I get the chance to get the pics off the camera. Now quick question hows the shore fishing at Turee pond? I see alot of posts about excellent fishing but they seemed like most or all where from a boat. Usually i fish from a canoe but someones borrowing the canoe so I cant use it and was wondering some good places around Concord that has some good shore fishing? Thanks! -Nick- Quote
wagn Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 Welcome to the forum fishingontheedge! I used to shore fish turee pond at night right from the ramp in the summer. I'd stop there at 11:30pm or son on the way home from work. I could usually catch a couple of bass on spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, or a paddletail swimbait and then just head home. Hope this helps Quote
FishingOnTheEdge Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 Yeah it does wagn. Thanks for the info. Im gonna try there tonight and see how it goes. Quote
nashua fisherman Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 we only had a couple hours to fish today so we fished below the d**n behind margarita's in nashua. i caught two rock bass(first time ever seeing these) and one small mouth. then we went the mouth of the nashua river behind the skate park and my wife caught a couple nice smallies. all from the shore using senkos. eloo Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 Welcome aboard F-ontheedge.I live 5 min. from Turee and fish there a lot in my boat. You can catch LMB from the boat ramp.I fish from the ramp on windy days like today because Turee can become very rough in wind.I fished off the ramp around noon today and caught 3 LMB on a 5/16 ounce black/blue swimming jig with a Rage Tail baby craw trailer. If the wind abates I'll probably take the boat out this eve.Perhaps I'll see you there. FishingOnTheEdge Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 Thanks eloo! You probably will see me there today. The reviews i have been reading here and on other sites. It sounds like a terrific pond. Quote
Kevin McG Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 I'm heading out at 7am but can't decide where to go(shore fishing).I am leaning towards Mill pond or that Bass Pond in Dunstable :-/ Quote
