montrose Posted May 8, 2010 Posted May 8, 2010 That don't look like a dink to me. Looks like at least a 1 pounder. Look at it this way you caught something. Baxter lake was a old apple orchard right? It could have been an orchard. It would make sense. I know its man-made. I went out for a couple of hours the a.m. and caught a little guy. Again, cruising the shallows, gravel/rock, taking a senko. Quote
montrose Posted May 8, 2010 Posted May 8, 2010 The a.m. bass put up one energetic fight. Constantly jumping, all the way to the boat. Went out this p.m. for a few hours and caught 2. The first one was again, cruising shallows, bagged him with an x-rap, not jerking but slow retrieving. The second one was decent. Put up a good fight. I found him on the opposite side of the lake (not far from the boat launch) in relatively shallow water near isolated cover (a huge, submerged rock). He took the x-rap. Still no pickerel or perch. I remember those things getting annoying but I haven't seen any this year. Or smallmouth's for that matterl Interesting. PS My girlfriend takes the best pictures! Quote
montrose Posted May 8, 2010 Posted May 8, 2010 and this is the last one I caught. Not sure of weight, but had good fight. Quote
Kevin McG Posted May 8, 2010 Posted May 8, 2010 Got out yesterday late morning to mid afternoon to mill pond and got nothing but a few crappie and a couple of bluegills.Decided after a couple of hours to head to my little hunny hole off 111(Gilson road) and snagged a few nice LMB. Here is a shot of the largest, I really need to pick up a scale there are some monsters in there! On a side note I spotted a couple of guys fishing, one in a inflatable that pulled up in a gray pickup and the other was in a yellow kayak. Anybody from Bass Resources?? Quote
Kevin McG Posted May 8, 2010 Posted May 8, 2010 ok I'm a bit confused(doesn't take much these days), I thought was fishing Mill pond but upon further digging in these thread it appears I am not I thought Mill was to the right if your standing right in front of the Conway Arena? near the boat launch.I was looking at a Google map and Mill Pond is more downtown between Ledge st. and Spine rd. Can somebody shed some light on my pea sized brain Quote
unhbass37 Posted May 8, 2010 Author Posted May 8, 2010 Hey Kevin the inflatable was me. I did ok yesterday at Mill, but still no pigs. Was that you to the right of the launch fishing from the shore? That is Mill pond also to the right of Conway arena for your info. Quote

nashua fisherman Posted May 8, 2010 Posted May 8, 2010 If that was Mill pond what Mill Pond is this? thats the oxbow. theres some pigs in there too. if you go to the millyard entrance of mines falls youl see a path to the right to access it. weve also had some luck fishing the canal there. Quote
Kevin McG Posted May 8, 2010 Posted May 8, 2010 I took a quick ride down there this morning and saw exactly where you marked on the map, didn't get out and walk through the gate that's there. Is it ok to park in there? looked like homebase for PM McKay Quote
nashua fisherman Posted May 8, 2010 Posted May 8, 2010 i usualy park in the dirt lot facing the canal by the gate. my son caught a 4 pounder there and i caught a 3 pounder. if you follow spine rd to the end youll see the river to the right and the pond to the left. theres a chainlink fence around the pond but theres a hole somewhere with a maze of trails that access the pond. wear your boots, theres alot of marsh. also, if you follow the trail along the river youll see a drain the goes from the pond to the river. fish the pond there. thats where i caught my 3 pounder. nashua fisherman Posted May 8, 2010 Posted May 8, 2010 i havent put a boat in there yet, but we should take mine there sometime. if i were you i would check it out first. its gonna take some effort to get back up the hill. me and my son fished it from the shore. it was one of my secret spots, but we got skunked the last few times we went. like i said, theres some big'ns in there. heres one i caught from the other side by the drain; Quote

RyanA603 Posted May 9, 2010 Posted May 9, 2010 I haven't had luck with any bass at all yet this year... I fish in Mass mostly though (because I know more spots). I was looking to expand a bit on my spots in NH though, so maybe now's a good time to start. Any suggestions for me to try this year? It'd be much appreciated ;D Quote
unhbass37 Posted May 9, 2010 Author Posted May 9, 2010 Welcome to the forums Ryan. Check out Mill pond in Nashua or Flints Pond in Hollis. Both good spots. Mill does get a lot of pressure, but they can be caught. Caught a nice 4 pounder at Flints also last summer. Nashua Fisherman also knows a bunch of spots and I'm sure he will chime in for southern NH. They rest of boys on here can help also. Great people sharing info. Good luck out there. Quote
RyanA603 Posted May 9, 2010 Posted May 9, 2010 I've tried Mill Pond twice with no luck at all... but I may try it again this year. I've heard good things. Thanks alot! Quote
wagn Posted May 9, 2010 Posted May 9, 2010 Hey Guys, I was talking to Jay the other day and he said that someone had posted up a homemade map of Powdermill Pond awhile ago in one of the NH forums. I did a search and couldn't find it. If anyone still has a link to that map and could post it again that would be awesome. Quote
RyanA603 Posted May 9, 2010 Posted May 9, 2010 Also, haven't been to Mill Pond in awhile... will I need to bring a boat or can I just throw a few out from the shore? Quote
troutguy Posted May 9, 2010 Posted May 9, 2010 hey guys and gals, Im not to sure what bridge it is, but if anyone is familiar it is on the river i believe in hollis across from the overpeck golf course. Any way went out there with some shiners and killed did ok. got one little LMB and a bunch of crappie. Some of the crappie were huge too considering i was using medium sized shiners. Also landed a little rockbass which I found to be a little odd, but ive only hit the spot once or twice so im not to sure how the fishing is there. Looks like everyone is doing pretty well though...Keep up the good work..maybe ill see some of you guys out there ill probably hit up mill pond in the AM... Quote
nashua fisherman Posted May 9, 2010 Posted May 9, 2010 went to flints pond in hollis withthe wife yesterday and we caught 11 fish. 3 bass, 3 perch and the rest pickeral. all fish but 2 were caught down back about 40-50 ft. from shore in about 5' of water. didnt see any beds, water was 60-61* and the milfoil is already starting to take over. jaystraw Posted May 9, 2010 Posted May 9, 2010 I've tried Mill Pond twice with no luck at all... but I may try it again this year. I've heard good things. Thanks alot! I'm pretty sure it was NHBasstard (spelling?) Quote
RyanA603 Posted May 10, 2010 Posted May 10, 2010 I'm pretty sure it was NHBasstard (spelling?) Not sure what you mean, haha. I went to Mill Pond today though. Was windy, full of people, and I couldn't figure out where to park haha. Was pretty disappointing Quote
