unhbass37 Posted May 5, 2010 Author Posted May 5, 2010 Nice Kevin. Crappies are fun to catch also. Were you using real worms? Quote
jaystraw Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 Hey Guys, Got out today and after looking around for the fish for a while, we found them on super shallow beds! They were pretty spooky, but we managed to each catch a half dozen from about 5:00pm-8:00pm. It was fun to be fishing smallies off of beds, and they all got released and went right back to them. Water temp ranged from 60-63 degrees. All fish were caught on senkos or a creature type bait. Quote
jaystraw Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 It was the big fish of the night, but I did not have a chance to weigh her. I wanted to get her back on the beds ASAP. I'd say she was about 2.5 or so. I love smallies! Quote

I have mixed emotions about this one. It's one of my favorite holes and I have a feeling fishing will not be the same there afterwards. Quote
Super User Shane J Posted May 6, 2010 Super User Posted May 6, 2010 Yeah, you will most definitely notice tougher fishing after they use the chemical. The raking part is okay, but after phase 2, find another pond for a few years. Quote

That's good to hear that the fishing is better in otternic after only a year. I've heard they blocked off the boat ramp there. Is that true? Quote
Super User deaknh03 Posted May 6, 2010 Super User Posted May 6, 2010 is otternic worth the trip? i tried going last year and the ramp was blocked. I usually go to cobbetts, canobie, massebesic,BIP,arlington, and on occasion robinson. Quote
Kevin McG Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 Does Otternic pond have good access to shore fishing? no boat here Also, how is little Otternic pond? Quote

montrose Posted May 7, 2010 Posted May 7, 2010 One dink at Baxter Lake - only catch of the day I haven't seen any beds but they seem to be cruising the shallows (pre-spawn?) They hit the soft plastics worked real slow but won't touch my spinnerbait. I'm going to work a jig, jerkbait and more soft plastics today. Quote
unhbass37 Posted May 7, 2010 Author Posted May 7, 2010 That don't look like a dink to me. Looks like at least a 1 pounder. Look at it this way you caught something. Baxter lake was a old apple orchard right? Quote

wagn Posted May 7, 2010 Posted May 7, 2010 Wow what a great weekend I had (Thursday and Friday is my weekend because of my work schedule). I caught 23 bass on thursday in a little over 3 hours of fishing. Then the wind got to bad and i left. Got out today with Jay at his secret spot. We caught 47 bass!! from 8:30-2:30pm. Nothing was gigantic, but plenty of 2+ pounders in the last 2 days. Here are a few pics: One of me One of Jay And one of our many double ups....they aren't big but I thought it was a cool pic. Quote
