nhbassin Posted May 2, 2010 Posted May 2, 2010 Impressive fmoore, that is a solid limit for the day. What lake was the tourney on? Quote
jaystraw Posted May 2, 2010 Posted May 2, 2010 Nice fish fmoore! WOW!! I could only get out yesterday. I got out on Powder Mill Pond from 8:30am-12:30pm. It was pretty slow fishing but I pulled in a nice 3 lb 10 oz LMB out of a deep tree and a small smallmouth in super shallow water. Both were on senkos. By the time we left there were over 20 cars in the parking lot! It got super busy. Here's a pic of the LMB: Quote
fmoore Posted May 3, 2010 Posted May 3, 2010 Thanks guys! nhbassin - the tourney was on Spofford Lake. Jaystraw...big healthy largemouth - nice! Good fish everyone. It was a little too hot for me today, but I'd say all in all it was a great weekend to be on the water no matter what. I went back to Spofford today (it's my home lake) and caught another 14, mostly dinks, but added this 4 pound 13 oz fat girl plus a pick and a pike. It won't let me post a bigger pic because of the size limit thing... Quote
bwillis Posted May 3, 2010 Posted May 3, 2010 Got out to Swains Lake in Barrington yesterday, no bass, but I caught 2 yellow perch on a 3/4 oz lipless crank. Went out to Purgatory Pond today with eloo, he caught a decent sized pickerel, and I had one that came off near the boat that I'm pretty sure was a pickerel too. Weather doesn't look like it's gonna hold up tomorrow though, so I'll have to find something else to do. SausageFingers23 Posted May 3, 2010 Posted May 3, 2010 Nice fish FMoore! You definitely had a solid weekend. I had a tough day on Massabesic yesterday. We boated five bass and an overly aggressive perch which hit a lipless crank. Largest was 2-5. Bites were few and far between and there were a TON of boats on the water. I haven't been able to figure that place out. It continually frustrates me. I hope everyone had a good weekend. The fishing wasn't great for me but the weather was excellent. Quote

How far in the canal can you take a boat from Mill pond? I have a little aluminum and it'd be fun to cruise up there. Quote
nashua fisherman Posted May 3, 2010 Posted May 3, 2010 Glad you had some luck Tom. The milfoil will be in before you know it. Thats when I do my best ... Well I hope. the biggest turn off for me is the unidentifiable stuff floating in the water. its pretty gross. ive never done really well there but i did catch my pb there. i know you kick *** there in the summer. the fish in the picture below were caught there and my wife caught hers for the shore!!! I was walking the canals yesterday morning and were seeing bass along the edges paired up and just starting to make nests. Some were in less than 6" of water. I have a little aluminum and it'd be fun to cruise up there. you can take a small boat all the way to the mill yard from mill pond. there are several places you can put in along the way too if you dont mind carrying your boat a bit. one spot of particular interest to me that i havent fished yet is the wide area off of simon st. ide love to get a boat out there. you could easily launch a kyak from the simon st entrance. it is 3 miles from mill pond to the mill yard so bring a big battery if you plan on launching from mill pond, going to the mill yard and back. let me know if your trying to fish a particular area. i can probably tell you where the closest launch is. Kevin McG Posted May 3, 2010 Posted May 3, 2010 Hi Guys & Gals, new guy here from Nashua NH. Fished Lovewell Sunday morning and caught a couple huge pickerel and more black crappie than I could handle in one morning. I don't have a boat but found the only place on the pond accessible :0 Also, fished Mill Pond and had no luck but I had great success at a little pond off Gilson roan in Hollis that I don't see mentioned anywhere on these boards(guess it's my little honey-hole). I'm relatively new to fishing in Southern NH and would love some locations that are easy shore fishing places since I haven't picked up a boat/canoe just yet. I look forward to many hours reading these boards -Kevin Quote
unhbass37 Posted May 3, 2010 Author Posted May 3, 2010 Welcome aboard Kevin. Alot of great people on here sharing info. Mill Pond will get better. It is tough right now. Plenty of shore access, But it does get a ton of pressure. I've caught many 4 and 5 pounders out of there. Good luck and hope to see you out there. I'm from Nashua to also. Quote
montrose Posted May 4, 2010 Posted May 4, 2010 Nice catch. Heard good things about that lake. Its a small lake, but it seems that every bass is large. I never really catch any dinks. I've fished that hole for many years and I remember catching pickerel like crazy, now I hardly ever see any. Quote
unhbass37 Posted May 4, 2010 Author Posted May 4, 2010 It use to be a apple orchard years back right? Quote
Super User Shane J Posted May 4, 2010 Super User Posted May 4, 2010 Welcome to the board, Kevin! You should go fish with the rest of the NH guys May 14th. Bunch of cool folks around here. As for how the fishing is going, it's off the chain! Went to Hoit Rd Marsh today, and caught 16 bass, biggest was only 3-4, though. More friggin pickerel than I could even count (at least 15), with a couple huge ones mixed in. Got a couple on topwater (Rage Shad), a few on a jig/chunk in summer craw color, weightless Rage Craw, split shotted Rooster, and a Zoom fluke. Crazy day, and I didn't want to get off the water, but then the wind started kickin' my butt all over, killing my battery, so I had to bail. Seemed like most of my bites came inside or just out of the lily pads that have popped up in the last week. I did see a bunch of smaller males making beds, which was cool to watch. Quote
llPa1nll Posted May 4, 2010 Posted May 4, 2010 Hey guys, Finally got out Sunday after a week of no fishing. Friend backed out on me last minute so I had an empty back of the boat. I put on my home lake. I caught 15 before noon and ended up with 18 when I left at 3pm. As soon as the sun came out and started to beat down my morning shallow pattern dried up. I couldnt buy a bite after 1pm. I caught 4 smallies 3 of which were in the 2lb range. They were just starting to get up and fanning beds. Water temps were about 60*F. Tight lines all... Quote

unhbass37 Posted May 4, 2010 Author Posted May 4, 2010 Still no launch there. Nashua fisherman kills there and can give you more info. Mostly crappie fishing from what he told me. Quote

Super User deaknh03 Posted May 4, 2010 Super User Posted May 4, 2010 whats the difference between wide spool and standard spool? is it just line capacity? I'm looking to replace my patriarch with another and the wide spool are much pricier. Quote
Waylo Posted May 4, 2010 Posted May 4, 2010 Thanks for the info on Lovewell. Might have to go there again soon to get a mess of crappie! Quote
