unhbass37 Posted April 16, 2010 Author Posted April 16, 2010 Waylo, welcome to the forum. I'm a Nashua guy also. If you fish Mill pond at all I'm sure you will see me as I fish that place usually alot as it is close to me. Good luck this season. Derek Quote
NH_Bass_Tard Posted April 16, 2010 Posted April 16, 2010 Anyone have any predictions on what the bass will be doing after this cold front passes? Quote
unhbass37 Posted April 16, 2010 Author Posted April 16, 2010 I say back DEEP, But could be wrong. I have a tough time catching them in the spring anyway. :-[ Quote
nashua fisherman Posted April 16, 2010 Posted April 16, 2010 I was on Naticook last weekend.. that place is tough for bass. never seen anything big pulled out of there, but ive done ok on quanity. just a heads up, dont bother with horseshoe pond in merrimack. theres better places. im also from nashua. welcome abord.---tom Quote
Waylo Posted April 16, 2010 Posted April 16, 2010 Horseshoe pond used to be really good about a dozen years or so ago. My unofficial personal best is out of there. Not anymore though. The last few times I was there got the big skunker. Naticook is my confidence place. If I need to feel a fish at the end of my line, then I go there. Not many big ones the rats are definitely plenty in there. Anyone going out this weekend. I'm contemplating going out sunday...W and W permitting. (Weather and Wife) ;D Quote
NH_Bass_Tard Posted April 17, 2010 Posted April 17, 2010 Oh yeah, last sunday I caught my first bass of the season. It took me 6 trips, but I finally pulled one in. I have not been having good luck at all this spring. Here's a pic: Quote
wagn Posted April 17, 2010 Posted April 17, 2010 Went out to Haunted lake last Thursday. We didn't catch many fish, i think it was 7 total but they were all dinks. However this did happen on the water.... Amazing!! For those who watch, there's 3 minutes of your life you'll never get back ;D Quote
Super User Shane J Posted April 17, 2010 Super User Posted April 17, 2010 I thought that was pretty funny, Wagn, but one question. Do you always carry samurai swords and nunchucks in your boat? Party on, man, that's the spirit! Quote
eloo Posted April 17, 2010 Posted April 17, 2010 That was true art Wagn! Now the uninitiated can appreciate what samurai bass fishing is all about. The last martial artist capable of handling numchucks like that was Bruce Lee! Quote
wagn Posted April 17, 2010 Posted April 17, 2010 We don't normally carry nunchucks on the boat, or swords. But you never know when you might get mugged. ;D Really, we just were having a tough day no the water and decided to do something stupid. My buddy actually had that stuff in his car, just for the sake of shenanigians in case it got slow. My favorite part of the movie was the voice of "Blue Ninja". I got to do all of the voice dubbing and my friend had no idea i was going to make him sound so high pitched and silly. And UNH, that is a monster bass Quote
eloo Posted April 18, 2010 Posted April 18, 2010 Just got back from Turee pond in Bow.Fish are holding deeper. Fished for one hour along shoreline and not one bite.Went out deeper 8-10ft. and dragged a c-rig across the bottom with a Stanley itzabug and caught 6 pickerel and 3LMB. Quote

I should of went out today, But the rain and cool temps keep the ambition down. :-/  I'm hoping for some warmer/dryer weather soon. Quote
SausageFingers23 Posted April 18, 2010 Posted April 18, 2010 Went out to Calef with a buddy for a little over an hour today (from shore) and caught four combined. Not all that bad. Fish were deeper. A slow rolled spinnerbait induced the strikes. The best part was using my new Revo SX. That thing is delicious. Quote
Super User Shane J Posted April 19, 2010 Super User Posted April 19, 2010 Yeah, I love my Revo S and my STX. Awesome reels! Glad you guys got on a few today, good job. Quote
bwillis Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 Yeah, I just picked up a Revo S/Carbonlite combo and I love it so far. Quote
Waylo Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 Took a quick trip out from 2:30 to 5:30 to a local pond. Was slightly windy with on and off showers. Air temp was probably 45 50 degrees. No water temps as didn't have the depth finder. Started off fishing a drop off at a corner of the pond we've had luck in the past in about 6-8' fow. I was throwing the bbz-1 jr wicked perch with no luck. This was the third time out with the big swimbait rod with not so much as a sniff so far. My buddy started to pick up some decent bass and picks on a little storm 3 suspending swimbait. I couldn't let him get too far ahead of me, so I put down the big rod and started throwing the same as him. (I couldn't let him have all the braggin rights.) I quickly picked up a few pickerel and moved on. Next we fished a brushy shoreline in some flats. I was skipping a jig in the brush and picked up a pick in there. DW is now killing the perch on a little spinner. IT's BAIT! I quickly pick up the wicked perch again and cast out into the flat. No sooner than three casts inFISH ON! First swimbait fish ever! Wasn't a bass but I'll take it. A few casts later, still casting into the flat, I cast out and let it sit for a second while I made an adjustment to the trolling motor. Pick up the rod again and think I'm on bottom. Until it starts moving! After a quick fight, it's in the boat and at just under 4 pounds (3pds 14oz) is the biggest fish I've caught in a while! I am officially hooked on swimbaiting! What a confidence booster it is to catch a couple good fish on the swimbait. Quote
eloo Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 Nice job Waylo.I have some soft plastic swimbaits that have been gathering dust.Based on your recent success I'll give it a try. Quote
Waylo Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 Flints in Hollis. No gas motors allowed on it so it got pretty tricky when the wind started blowing yesterday  Quote
nashua fisherman Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 Flints in Hollis. i love that place. its one of my faves. we do best fishing from the launch to the house on the left with the lighthouse on the dock. make sure to stop and thoughroly(?) fish the area in front of the bank with the bench. we dominate this pond with spinnerbaits until the weeds grow in, then its texas rigged worms(doesnt matter what color). watch out for the floating islands. there are a couple of springs that feed this pond. use your temp gauge to find them. one of them is to the right where the houses are. you need to fish through the pickeral to catch the bass though. there are some monster picks in there. watch for the boiling baitfish. unhbass37 Posted April 19, 2010 Author Posted April 19, 2010 Just got back from Mill pond for 2 hours and got skunked AGAIN. Water temp dropped quite a bit to 54 degrees also. I threw the whole arnsenal at them and only one hit. I'm really struggling this year not sure what it is >. I usually kill at this pond. I am going gonna hit some more different spots and hope that helps. Quote

[/edit] derek, did you try slow rolling spinnerbaits? i ran into someone i know at the canal a couple weeks back and they said they got 8 in 4 hours using t-rigged worms 4 ft from the bank. they started fishing from the millyard entrance to the canal. ide like to launch my boat from there sometime if your interested. also, last week i walked the bank over by the school and saw a couple fish take off. Quote
unhbass37 Posted April 19, 2010 Author Posted April 19, 2010 I tried the slow roll spinnerbait also. I did use the small ones like you said and still nothing. >..... If you want to launch your boat there let me know. There were people bank fishing and they had not caught anything either from what they told me. IDK I'm so use to killing them on Senko/Trick sticks and Jigs. I honestly tried everything I had and worked it slow/fast, Stop/go and NOTHING. This is one part of the fishing season I need to improve on. Quote
SausageFingers23 Posted April 20, 2010 Posted April 20, 2010 Dont sweat it UNH, you'll get on them soon enough. For what its worth, I've found them hanging out close to cover (mostly timber) but on the deep edges. Where I fish they are still transitioning and the water hasn't breached 50* yet. I've had good luck this season on jigs and spinnerbaits worked slowly. I usually let the spinnerbait hit the bottom before I start my retrieve. Sometimes I'll yo-yo it back. I've had a couple on the Reaction Sweet Beaver and the Brush Hawg c-rigged also. If its relatively calm I throw a jig or plastic. If there is a little chop I toss a spinnerbait with small willow blades in natural colors like white, etc. If its windy and the surface is rough I upsize the blades for a little more vibration and use brighter colors like fire tiger. That's what has been working for me. Once the water warms a little more I'll have to make some adjustments but so far so good. Quote
