NH_Bass_Tard Posted April 9, 2010 Posted April 9, 2010 Do you guys think that any bass that were shallow are retreating back to the deeper water as this cold front and rain moves through? Quote
unhbass37 Posted April 9, 2010 Author Posted April 9, 2010 I'll let you know tomorrow. I'm gonna try to wack'em with a big spinner bait or a deep driver crankbait. If that don't work I will try jigs or Senkos. Hopefully it won't be raining hard. Quote
SausageFingers23 Posted April 9, 2010 Posted April 9, 2010 Do you guys think that any bass that were shallow are retreating back to the deeper water as this cold front and rain moves through? I think youre right. The fish that were shallow may slide back a little deeper with the front moving through. I was out on Wednesday and they were buried deep in brush. If I were able to get on the water today, my plan would be to hit the deeper water pockets on the fringe of that cover. I dont think they'll be moving to far though. The water temps are really climbing and the nights aren't really getting that cold anymore. Quote
wagn Posted April 9, 2010 Posted April 9, 2010 Got you yesterday, Managed only 2 bass. 2lbs 3oz and 2lbs 10oz. Lost another smaller one by the boat. We did get about 10 pickeral and a perch. Spinnerbaits seemed to be the only thing that worked with the wind. I went out a work for 15 minutes on tuesday and did manage to land this pig on my last cast. I had no scale (Being on my lunch break) I can comfortably say it was around 4lbs. Definitely the best bass I've ever caught in 15 minutes of fishing! Quote
SausageFingers23 Posted April 9, 2010 Posted April 9, 2010 I wish my lunch breaks were like that. :'( Nice job! Quote
NH_Bass_Tard Posted April 9, 2010 Posted April 9, 2010 I cant wait until this crappy weather passes by. Sunday looks like the next potential nice day. Quote
SausageFingers23 Posted April 9, 2010 Posted April 9, 2010 I cant wait until this crappy weather passes by. Sunday looks like the next potential nice day. Haha. I was thinking the same exact thing. Then I realized that we had an 80 deg day in early April and I decided to cut mother nature a little slack. I think Im hitting up Silver Lake in Harrisville on Sunday morning. Im doing a little trout fishing. Im bringing my bass gear just in case the trout fishing is slow so I can go after some smallies. Quote
wagn Posted April 10, 2010 Posted April 10, 2010 wgn, where were you Honestly, I have no idea. It's some little pond in merrimack. My buddy asked if i wanted to run out at work for a few minutes and he drove me there. He caught also caught a little bass and I caught a crappie. I don't think the place even has a name. Quote
NashVegasFisher Posted April 11, 2010 Posted April 11, 2010 I have been following this thread since early last year, figured it was time i joined. I got out of Harris Pond in Pelham Friday after work. It was rainy all day, got on the water around 3:30 and ended up leaving around 6:30, rain just got obscene. I managed 9 bass, 2 pickerel. My buddy only landed 1 pickerel. Largest was 3 lbs. All were caught on a Perch colored Rapala crankbait that I cant even find on their site anymore. It has a strange L-shaped lip, so you can adjust where it dives to depending on speed and type of retrieve, I think it was 4-6ft depth. All 5-10 feet off the shoreline. Quote
jaystraw Posted April 12, 2010 Posted April 12, 2010 Nice fish wagn!! You're already hammering them this year! I think I know that pond by looking at the shoreline. It's actually some sort of small state/town park right in Merrimack. It's pretty easy to find and I think there is a real launch there as well depending on where you enter the park. That is unless I'm confusing it for somewhere else. I got my new truck and bass rig yesterday (2010 Toyota Tacoma V6 and a 2001 Nitro NX 750DC with 90hp Merc). Here's some pics. I'm always up for fishing on fridays, and most weekends. Quote
Super User Shane J Posted April 12, 2010 Super User Posted April 12, 2010 Dude, nice boat! Hey, Fridays are good for me too if we want to get a larger group together sometime! I fish every Friday, one way or the other. Quote

llPa1nll Posted April 12, 2010 Posted April 12, 2010 Fished Canobie Sunday 7LM bass biggest was 3lbs. After that windy front moved through the shallow bite died. Not to shabby, for 9am - 3pm. Quote

jaystraw Posted April 12, 2010 Posted April 12, 2010 Nice trout dude! I'm going to be fishing Silver lake a lot this year I think. I've never been there, but with the nice launch and good fishing, I just have a feeling about it. Thanks everyone!! I'm psyched to get out. I have not gotten out there for a couple weeks due to my hectic schedule and crappy weather on Friday, but I'm hoping this week brings me the fish with the new rig. I'm already fishing this friday with wagn, but maybe next Friday guys! Or we could all meet up at Franklin Pierce Lake and just have a mini tourney! Quote
Super User Shane J Posted April 12, 2010 Super User Posted April 12, 2010 I've never fished there, but I'm down! Quote
fmoore Posted April 12, 2010 Posted April 12, 2010 Fished Canobie Sunday 7LM bass biggest was 3lbs. After that windy front moved through the shallow bite died. Not to shabby, for 9am - 3pm. The bite most definitely did die after that front came through on Sunday. I caught a few on the CT River, came home, ate lunch and went to a small local pond. Ended up with a couple bass and an accidental 11 pound 1 oz pike on a little bluegill swimbait Quote
Super User Shane J Posted April 12, 2010 Super User Posted April 12, 2010 Get outta here! That's a cool accident! Nice job, man! Quote
