unhbass37 Posted September 18, 2009 Author Posted September 18, 2009 I will be back at it tommorow somewhere. It gonna be real WINDY from what I hear so it may be tough. Good luck everyone this weekend. Lets hope to see a eight pounder now boys. Quote
unhbass37 Posted September 18, 2009 Author Posted September 18, 2009 Got out early this morning and was only able to catch one bass. Water temp was 62 degrees and the wind was strong. 3lbs 7oz. Here is a picture. Quote
alluriana Posted September 19, 2009 Posted September 19, 2009 Hi boys, Newbie on the loose - look out! My first post... Thanks for being my guinea pigs. I see everyone talking about the blue/black Senkos that have been ultra-hot in SoNH... How do you fish these? I've never used them. Weighted? How deep? Retrieve speed? I have okay luck with a 75 cent cheapo little yellow rubber fish from Cabela's store in Scarborough and my Shad-Rap SR-5 but I want to get BASS not sunnies... Merrimack River and mostly - provided you can get out on Nashua's crappy launch, or BIP. Thx! Quote
Super User Shane J Posted September 19, 2009 Super User Posted September 19, 2009 Welcome, Alluriana. Try them Senkos wacky rigged on a weedless 2/0 Gammy. Or better yet, get some Rage Tail Anacondas and Shads! By the way, Nice chunk there, UNH. I only managed two 2 lbers this morning. Windy as a mofo! Quote
unhbass37 Posted September 20, 2009 Author Posted September 20, 2009 Thanks Shane. Welcome Alluriana, Like Shane said in the above will work great to. I also rig my 5" Blk/Blue Senkos Texas rigged with a 3/0 Gamakatsu Skip Gap Hooks weightless. I throw it out there and let it fall and if there there they will hit it. I have done very well this year with this technique. Keep in mind I use inexpensive mono line to really make it fall slower and I beleive this has helped. Fishing with worms takes alot of patience so don't rush it. In the long run you will be happy with the results. Any more questions just ask. Quote
Nashua-River-Rat Posted September 21, 2009 Posted September 21, 2009 I also rig my 5" Blk/Blue Senkos Texas rigged with a 3/0 Gamakatsu Skip Gap Hooks weightless. I throw it out there and let it fall and if there there they will hit it. Same here...using 7" Red or Blue Culprits with 3/0 Gamakatsu. I have tried other baits, but this consistently works much better. Plus it keeps those frickin Pickerel away. Although they give a good fight it's no Bass! Quote
Nashua-River-Rat Posted September 21, 2009 Posted September 21, 2009 Put the flat boat in the Nashua last night at Mines Falls. SLOW bites...ended up with a goldfish baby bass, but I didn't get skunked. We were getting tons of bites and pulls, but you know...they weren't as dedicated as we were. I might go out and try it again today. Mines Falls was doing ok last week, but recent days has been SLOW. Everywhere is SLOW...I wish it was mid August again. Quote
NHBassfishing Posted September 21, 2009 Posted September 21, 2009 Can ya shore fish the canal yet? I don't want to land a fish that i have to fight thru millfoil and lillys..lol Quote
Super User Shane J Posted September 22, 2009 Super User Posted September 22, 2009 Alright I just got back from my little local "bass hole", and for sure the bite is slower, and comes in waves. They're on, and we're either landing bass, or missing a hook set on one, or it's off and nothing works. Tonight was like that. I ended up with a couple nice fish, and my buddy ended up with one chunk. My first was a 2-15, that I was totally fooled on, by thinking it was a solid 3 1/2 (oh well). Then my buddy Mike landed his first ever Rage Tail fish on a Shad I let him throw. Tomorrow he will be buying a bunch of new stuff! His went 2-4, and not a bad fish. Then I got one more at about 8:30 on a Rage Shad (black neon) that was 2-8. Good fish, but the fishing was not quite what I'm used to in here. Quote
unhbass37 Posted September 22, 2009 Author Posted September 22, 2009 Nice fish shane. Wish I could of got there with ya.Maybe next time. Quote
Super User Shane J Posted September 22, 2009 Super User Posted September 22, 2009 Thanks. Yeah next time for sure. Quote
unhbass37 Posted September 22, 2009 Author Posted September 22, 2009 Got Skunked for the first time at mill pond this year. . Oooh well. All the milfoil is breaking up also which makes it a bit more difficult and it was a bit windy. Still no excuses I got spanked today LOL. Got a chance to say hi to NHBassfishing who was shore fishing there also. Quote
Super User Shane J Posted September 22, 2009 Super User Posted September 22, 2009 What do you do to adjust to the milfoil breaking down? It's happening all over for us up here, and the water is nasty and murky. For me, I've just been concentrating on topwater, or large colorado bladed spinnerbaits, but how are you all handling it? Quote
unhbass37 Posted September 22, 2009 Author Posted September 22, 2009 I still use the depth finder to find drops and fish them, but I am now going to use a spinnerbait to help cover more water. I hope that will help. I have killed at that pond this year on senkos, but it's now a time of change if I can talk myself in to it. Quote
wagn Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 What do you do to adjust to the milfoil breaking down? It's happening all over for us up here, and the water is nasty and murky. For me, I've just been concentrating on topwater, or large colorado bladed spinnerbaits, but how are you all handling it? Try lipless cranks, tick them over the top of the milfoil, they seem to come through alot better once the milfoil starts to break down. Double willow spinnerbaits as well if it's windy enough. Senko's as always are a go to bait. I'm also working on swimming twin tail grubs or similiar through weed flats. hope this helps Quote
Super User Shane J Posted September 22, 2009 Super User Posted September 22, 2009 Yeah, Wagn, that's good advice. I actually tried a Rat l Trap yesterday, but nothing going on there. Didn't really give it much of a shot, and I was actually using outside of the milfoil areas. My buddy did get one on a Senko rigged wacky on a weedless 2/0 hook. Quote
unhbass37 Posted September 23, 2009 Author Posted September 23, 2009 If you fish the Merrimack from Nashua, Watch those props and lower ends boys. It super low now. Quote
Super User Shane J Posted September 23, 2009 Super User Posted September 23, 2009 Yeah, no kiddin'! I don't even mess with the Merrimack now unless it's up. Two years ago I hit shallow water and rocks under the Manchester St. bridge in Concord. Prop mangled, and lower end smashed to pieces. Hard lesson learned. There's a section of the river that I could easily walk from one side to the other right now. Quote
nashua fisherman Posted September 23, 2009 Posted September 23, 2009 where do you fish the merimack when its high? ive been told that from the nashua launch to the island in litchfeild/ merimack is best when its low. Quote
unhbass37 Posted September 23, 2009 Author Posted September 23, 2009 Just to give you a heads up Tom it's about 2 to 3 feet max now. I went out there today in the raft. After seeing all those big rocks I don't see me putting the tracker back in there again. We must of just missed a few when we went out. I did not catch anything either, but only stay 1/2 hour. Be very careful if you go out there with the outboard on there. Quote
Super User Shane J Posted September 24, 2009 Super User Posted September 24, 2009 Oh yeah! Not a bad morning at all! Started out slow with a couple dinks, and a 2lber before 7:00am, then it got real slow for a while, until I hit the bank with the old Rage Shad, and hooked up with a nice 4lb 12oz honey. Then I was trying out the new Rage Smokin' Rooster (soon to be available at stores near you), and got the sweetheart of the day, a 5lb 1oz beauty. hope you're all on some, too! Quote
unhbass37 Posted September 24, 2009 Author Posted September 24, 2009 Nice pigs Shane. Where was that at? If it's private I understand. Quote
Super User Shane J Posted September 24, 2009 Super User Posted September 24, 2009 It's private, but it's the place I'm gonna take you out to one of these days! I'm just keepin' 'em warm! Quote
unhbass37 Posted September 25, 2009 Author Posted September 25, 2009 Cool I understand. Like I told you my fishing is very limited now with my sons hockey and school, But I can get out for a couple of hours from time to time. Good luck to everyone if you get out this weekend. Quote
Super User Shane J Posted September 26, 2009 Super User Posted September 26, 2009 Anybody else going to the Fish and Game expo today? It's from 10-3, it's free, and there's 'sposed to be lots to see and stuff to do, even for kids, so I'll be there with my boy. I'll be the one in the Rage Tail shirt and hat. Oh yeah, and yesterday was a crappy fishing day. I hit my pond and only got one 2 lber, then later brought the bass boat out to another place and got blown around for a while, and didn't catch a thing. Oh well. Good luck to everyone here for the weekend. Quote
