Use a spinning rod with lighter line (8lbs) and throw it way out with a fast/slow retrive. Hope this helps. Quote
catchbig0bass Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 Ya I was ttrying the slug-o which are a vry irratic action swimbait. Im using 50# powerpro on a 6'6" medium power rod baitcast setup with them and seem to like it a lot however just couldn't get anything to bite. With this setup I can cast my senko's and swimbaits pretty much just as far as a spinning setup. Looking to try out a new spot in pelham today or tommarow so I will give my synopsis when I do. Quote

catchbig0bass Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 Looking to try out a new spot in pelham today or tommarow so I will give my synopsis when I do are you talking about harris pond? there is another pond that i know of in pelham but im not sure if it is privet or not. will tell you guys if i ever get out there. Im talking about gumpas pond. It is in fact private however supposivly If you head out the dirt road that surrounds it there is a trail off to the left that a truck can fit down to gain access. Gumas is supposed to be really good and filled with monster bass. A guy at work's son goes there all the time and has come home with tons of pics of huuuge bass. Me and the gf went down the dirt rd a ways and it looked like the road went right beside someones house with a garage accross from the house. thought maybe it was the end of the rd but nope i guess you just keep going. unhbass37 Posted July 1, 2009 Author Posted July 1, 2009 Got out today couple of hours and did well. I caught 4 total smallest bass was 1lbs even, and the biggest fish were 4lbs 1oz and 3lbs 5oz. Here are a few pictures of the hawgs. All fish were caught out deep (12 feet on average of water) and close to drop offs. My son did not want to go today due it was raining yet he wishes he went now. nashua fisherman Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 jesus christ unh!!! you the man!!! how much do you chrarge to be a guide? i need to learn how to fish other than pounding the shore. let me know when you want to go fishing. the pond i was talking about is gumpas. ive been waiting for my neibor to have some time so we can launch my boat from that path. its gonna take some muscle to launch from what ive seen. ive read on this sight about 7#'ers at gumpas. people who live on the lake are pretty uptight from what ive heard. catchbig0bass Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 UNHbass37. Nice fish. Hey question for ya, what kind of raft is that you have? Quote
unhbass37 Posted July 1, 2009 Author Posted July 1, 2009 It's an Intex Mariner. I got it on amazon.com two years ago. It has a wooden floor which is removable and a motor mount for a trolling motor. It says up to 4 people, But no way. Two at the max. What is nice is I can stand up and fish if I need to and it's light. Quote
unhbass37 Posted July 3, 2009 Author Posted July 3, 2009 Got out early moning today before the heavy rain starts and caught two. The biggest was 3lbs 4oz and onther one 1lbs on the money. Fishing was tough as the water levels are very high and murky. Had a tough time finding them. I may try to get out later if the rain holds out. Anyway here is a picture of the 3lbs 4oz. Hope you all have good luck this weekend. Quote
SausageFingers23 Posted July 3, 2009 Posted July 3, 2009 Nice fish (again)! Went to stumpfield marsh and did ok. More pickerel than anything, though the size was good and the fight were strong. That place has a ton of potential. Looking forward to getting back out there. Hopefully the weather holds out this weekend so I can get back on the water. Quote
unhbass37 Posted July 3, 2009 Author Posted July 3, 2009 Thanks SausageFingers23 . You will get'em,Post pictures when you do. I got out again around 2:30 and did ok again, But man the wind made it tough to fish. I caught 4 more Bass and one big Pickerel >. The biggest bass was 3lbs 6oz, I also caught a 2lbs 13oz (which I thought was a 5+ pounder by the way he fought) the other two were little fellas. It was has another good day all and all. Hope you all get out this weekend. Let's see some of your pictures. Here are my biggest. Quote
unhbass37 Posted July 4, 2009 Author Posted July 4, 2009 Got out today again early and didn't do as good as usual. I only caught 2, Biggest was only 1lbs 4oz. No excuses, the bass just beat me today lol.Anyone catch any hawgs? Quote
NH_Bass_Tard Posted July 4, 2009 Posted July 4, 2009 No hawgs today because I didn't bother to go out lol. I think I quit fishing after yesterday. I was out on Powder Mill for 6 hours and did not catch one bass. I used many different lures, retrieves, and fished many different types of locations, cover, and structures.. There were a lot of people out too and none of them had any luck either. One thing I did notice is that the current is a lot stronger than usual. I just wish I could figure out how that affects the bass because I feel that's the key to catching them in these conditions. Quote
unhbass37 Posted July 4, 2009 Author Posted July 4, 2009 Hey, I did not have a good day today either. Don't give up. What I do is say it was fun just to try and get out on the water. After all we are not pros and even they have bad days. Quote
