Its refreshing to see people sharing information so everyone can enjoy the experience and find new places to try out.  Looking forward to partcipating.  Hopefully I can actually offer something valuable.  It looks like you guys have everything covered already though! Quote
wagn Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 Congrats on the PB Lilfish!! That is one nice looking toad. Â Quote
SausageFingers23 Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 Went to Massabesic yesterday evening with a buddy. Â We caught a smallmouth, largemouth, and pickerel. Â Another largemouth shook the hook with a jump. Â All were on spinnerbaits either in lilly pads or isolated grass flats in about 5-10 feet of water. Â I caught the smallmouth and pickerel on a red strike king mini. Â Strikes were hard to come by. Â Everyone we talked to at the launch had the same story. Smallie and largemouth were just over a pound. Â Atleast we didnt get skunked. Â Quote
unhbass37 Posted June 27, 2009 Author Posted June 27, 2009 Got out today with my son and we caught 8 total, Water was very murky and most were caught out deep. Biggest fish was 2lbs 9oz. Here is a picture. Â Hope you all have good luck this weekend. Quote
SausageFingers23 Posted June 27, 2009 Posted June 27, 2009 Tried the river for a bit yesterday. Â Didnt have much luck though. Â The millfoil is getting pretty thick in there. Come to think of it, I havent had much success on the river, though it looks like such a great largemouth fishery. Â Anyone have any strategies that seem to work consistently out there? Â Thank you in advance. Â Everyone have a great weekend! Â Here's hoping you spend a fair amount of time on the water reeling them in! Quote
unhbass37 Posted June 27, 2009 Author Posted June 27, 2009 What river are you talking about? If you are talking about the Nashua River. I use senkos and Jigs and night crawlers (yes night crawlers). You really can't get a crankbait or spinnerbait to work due the milfoil, Well atleast I haven't. Are you in a boat or shore fishing? Quote
3H Posted June 27, 2009 Posted June 27, 2009 I think I might hit up a few rivers/small ponds I saw up in chester today, going to be a small hike to get to them though. Â Wish I had some waders. Quote
unhbass37 Posted June 28, 2009 Author Posted June 28, 2009 Caught only 3 today, But man was the bite very slow. Biggest was 2lbs 13oz. I'll take it considering the day. There were 4 boats out there and many shore fisherman so that may have been the reason LOL. Quote
nashua fisherman Posted June 29, 2009 Posted June 29, 2009 catchbigbass, did you have any luck at mill pond today? we caught 3 pickeral, 1 bass and 1 perch at flints last night, 3 pickeral at nutts today, 1 bass at mill pond, and 1 at round pond. nothing worth photographing except for this overly ambitious guy. Quote
unhbass37 Posted June 29, 2009 Author Posted June 29, 2009 Nashua Fisherman what time were you at Mill pond? There were 4 boats out there when I was out there and a ton of shore fisherman. I was lucky to catch what I caught. Fishing been good everywhere I have been lately how have you been doing? How was Round pond in Nashua? I went there last year with my son and it was very low, Like only 3 feet at the deepest part. We ended up leaving after half hour. Quote
catchbig0bass Posted June 29, 2009 Posted June 29, 2009 Nashua fisherman. Nice seeing you out there today. Probably about 30 min after I saw ya I caught this guy here. no clue how much the weight is. Thought it was funny that he was missing half a tail too. I only got this one from mill. GF was catching a few little sunnies however. I still can't get her onto using some lures or worms other than real. I caught this guy using a white senko with silver flake. Quote

I went there last year with my son and it was very low, Like only 3 feet at the deepest part. We ended up leaving after half hour. not sure what time we were there but i know it was late afternoon. there was a canue and a fishing kyak out there when we launched and at least 5 other people fishing not including catchbigbass. weve been doing ok, definetly not as good as your sons. i have this week off. we should take our boats up to check out the tourny fishing area. my wife caught a 10oz crappie at round pond today. we were only there for about a half hour before it started raining and it was our third body of water today so we went home before we got soaked. there are some spots in there over 7 feet deep. the bottom is covered with weeds and the water is very clear. we have caught bass there before. most of it is shallow but we do best in less than 4 feet of water. Â I've gotten in the bad habit of just referring to it as "The River". Â I've tried pretty much everything, though I usually go with a t-rigged worm. Â I'll have to try the senko's. Â I havent given them much of a go yet. Â We have a boat and we usually go just beyond the Winchester Street ramp, leaving from the dam. Â The Nashua River frustrates me because I always seem to struggle on it. Â I usually do alright in most other places. Â One day Ill figure this place out. Â Thanks for the info. Â Much appreciated. Where you saw us is where I caught that guy. We havn't explored / fished too much further down from where you saw us. We have fished from the left side of the boat launch all the way down, which is accross from where you guys saw us. And then sometimes we walk a little further up from where you saw us just over then bridge walkway where a little waterfall is and that seemed to be a decent spot. However we had the bikes with us and went for a good 2hr bike ride before fishing And i really liked a few spots at the end of the pond where the channel comes in. Im guessing this is where you are talking that the canal is? I saw the 2 guys in canoe and 1 in kayak and asked them if any luck and they were stating they had good luck at the mouth of the channel they were in. I wouldnt think the channel they were coming down would be all that good fishign considering the depth and amount of junk in their. Quote
nashua fisherman Posted June 29, 2009 Posted June 29, 2009 the canal is down back to the left. water enters the mill pond from the nashua river at the gatehouse before the d**n(between where you were fishing and the launch). the canal is 3 miles long and full of millfoil. i have caught bass in the canal over by the millyard. the water is pretty stagnant there because most of the water exits from mill pond. heard there are some monsters in there. good luck. Cool Ill have to check that out. Thinking in a few weeks to buy a canoe off a guy at work. 14' and really wide. I guess he can stand up in it and fish so seems like a good deal at 100$ with paddles and all. He paid 600$ 3 years ago and barely used it. Then I can get to all the decent spots around. Quote

catchbig0bass Posted June 30, 2009 Posted June 30, 2009 Went afterwork today and caught 7 in total. Mostly little guys. Went and started doing some flipping or trying to anyhow haha, but casting into and around some weedbeds that had a stream channel coming into... so to the right of me a water channel heavily wooded and the water ran out into weed beds. I was using a 4" black slug-0 on my heavy baitcasting setup... splashes were heard up the channel which is only 3-4ft wide max, figured it was a beaver. Some light bulb came off in my head to cast through the twigs and trees so i threw the slug-0 in their let it fall its way to the bottom. twitched my rod tip around and wammm, up my line went twords deeper in the channel. reeling and pulling the fish turned out twords the pond and after a minute or two landed a nice probably 4lber... def my most exciting fish to catch yet. I know I know everyone wants the picture... soon to be, waiting for the gf to upload to the computer tonight and send them to me. But stay tuned and I will post. Quote

I guess a lot of guys put trolling motors on this model and its really a nice rig. Quote
unhbass37 Posted June 30, 2009 Author Posted June 30, 2009 We need proof. Let's see the pictures. Na, Just kidding. Congrats. I told you they are in there. Glad to hear you caught a nice one. That pond gets nailed by alot of fisherman now. In all the years I have been there I have never seen so many people on this little pond. I just hope everyone catches and releases quickly as the spawn is all messed up and some have not spawned yet. I take the picture and get him or her right back in to the same spot. Â Quote

Im really not sure and she was freaking out when i told her to get the rope from the truck to get diameter and length measurements to use the calculater---- HUUUUn let it go your going to kill it, get it in the water hahaha EDIT: The length to from my fingertips to my elbow is a hair over 18" Quote
3H Posted June 30, 2009 Posted June 30, 2009 Great catch. I went for maybe an hour today between 745-845 and caught nothing didn't see any feeding ripples or anything. Quote
