the clark book has been updated this year i believe, i bought the new one, it's got a green cover, and I have the older one with the blue cover, and the new one has quite a few updates.

Where did you purchase the Clark's book? I have had trouble locating it

I made it to horseshoe pond in merrimack this morning with the grandson ( 6 yr old)

We had a surprisingly great morning considering at 8 am the parking lot was full. Had to split the truck and trailer to park.

8 bass in less than 2 hours and we never lost sight of the truck and boat trailer.

We never made it around the corner.

All bass were less than 2 1/4 but but nothing smaller than 1 1/2

A fun morning to have a 6 yr old with me.

The old black and silver flat fish was working well this morning. I never even tried to practice / continue to learn fishing with rubber worms and lizards.

Big night crawlers for the little guy.

Not one pickerel, i was hoping the little guy was gonna find a big one. Lots of kibbies for the little guy.

Alright I'm back from Maine. What a trip! Me and my brother in law fished for 16.5hrs yesterday, went to the lake when it was dark and left when it was dark. I wish everyday could be like that! The fishing was simply amazing. Between the two of us, we reeled in roughly 100 fish, only one of which wasn't a bass of some sort, happened to be a monster white perch. The new boat worked perfectly! I bought a 700cca from Wal-Mart and it lasted all day, with multiple trips from one end of the lake to the other. I was really shocked, even though my trolling motor is only 36lbs thrust. We caught fish from 1lbs up to 6lbs, it was just incredible. Here are some pics.  8-)

Congrats!! What a way to break in your new boat. Sounds like an incredible day to me. Tons of fish and some biggins! What more can you ask for?

NIce fish NHbassmaster.  Do you mind me asking where in Maine you went?  I'm fronm the North Conway region, and I've fished a lot in Maine.

I got ourt yesterday for a few hours in the AM.  It was pretty cloudy, cold and windy until the sum came out.  The swmallies wouldnot cooperate until around 9:00am, and I caught 6 in a row in deeper water with a GY baby lizard, adn then caught 2 more off some shallow pads near deeper water.  Nothing huge, but good action for a short trip.

jaystraw, thanks! I was at East Pond in Oakland, ME. Way up there! My wife is from that area and whenever we go up there, I get to fish! East Pond is part of the Belgrade Lakes Chain. So many very large lakes within a small space. Excellent fishing though!

Thanks for the greetings. I've always been a trout fisherman until i caught my first bass that is! :) I'm still using small brook rods and would like to upgrade. You guys have any good ideas for nice reel/rod combos for spinning set up?

Posted

All Ugly sticks for me, they work great and are easy on the wallet. Any spinning reel will work just fine as well. I don't need a 300 dollar set up to fish. Just my cheap 2 cents. Good luck out there.

Posted

Thanks unh. I love my ugly sticks for trout fishing but my friend said there to short for bass (there only 4.5'). Any suggestion on length and sensitivity?

Posted

I also stick to relatively cheap combos. Dicks is where I get mine. 6' med tenacity combo. I believe they're 39.99. Favorite set-up I've ever used, but I've never tried any high end gear.

Welcome!  8-) As other's have stated, Dicks Sporting Goods, Sports Authority and even sometimes Wal-Mart will get you some good mid-ranged spinning combos. A 6', Medium Action rod will work perfectly for an all around rod! I wish you the best of luck with the Buckets!  :P

If you're talking about Glen Lake in Goffstown, it's tough from my experience, but there are some descent smallies there.
