So I hit my bass hole pond, and hammered the fish. I know, to the guys that have fished there with me, it's hard to beleive that there are actually fish in there, since I always have a hard time anytime I bring anyone, but today was good! 12 fish in all, two over 5 lbs, one just over 4lbs, and four about 2.5lbs, the rest were dinks. I was pretty pumped to finally have a good day out there. The first big one was on a jig/Rage Craw(wat. red), and the second big one was on a Rage Lobster(okeechobee).

Congrats man!! One of these days we're gonna get a pic of YOU and a HAWG! Things seem to be turning around over there, hope Purgatory does the same.

derek, looks like your enjoying your jonboat. me and the wife have fished stevens a couple times. we did good under the highway. you should check out nutts pond too.

would you like to check out forge pond saturday?

I was there last week just checking it out and was told not to waste my time. There are bass there, But not in great numbers and size. He also told me there are a ton of jet skiers and water skiers out there on the weekend. I am game if you still want to try it or somewhere else. I will call you tomorrow. I did fish knopps pond in Groton and that was horrible. Loads of milfoil and fanwart. My son and I only caught a few small ones there.

Well if you just want to catch fish go to Robinson Pond in Hudson. The bass are usually about a pound, But there are alot of them. Fish the edges of the weeds (milfoil) away from the shore with a senko or crankbait or by the pads in the back. Get there early though as it loads up with the weekend warriors. Good luck and let me know how you do.

Gumpas is private. No public access anymore.

First time at Robinson Pond and after reading all the reviews on the place I wasn't sure how it was going to go. Stared out solid and got a few 1.5lb LMB with the first 15 minutes. After about an hour I was starting to believe what I read about a lot of smaller LMB and only a few larger ones was shattered! I hooked into my personal best(4.5lbs.) and that sucker took me for a kayak ride into the weeds and I thought I was going to loose him. Finally landed him and reached for my cell phone for proof........left it in the d**n truck :) Well I will be returning there soon, fun way to spend my early Sunday morning.

There are a FEW bigger ones in there I'm sure, But I personal have never caught anything over 1.5 and I have fished it alot. That place gets a ton of pressure due to easy boat access also. Weekends are the worst time to go also as it's gets loaded with jet skiers and water skiers. If your gonna try it out hit it during the week either real early or late. Good luck.

Just as a quick note, Gumpas is technically private, from what I hear, but there is a small "turn around" at the end of the dirt road with a small trail that leads to the pond that isn't posted. Good access for kayak, but jon boat would be tough to get down there. I've parked there before with no problems. Personally I'm all for finding creative ways to access "private" ponds, including long hikes. Law says if it's not posted (every 100 yards) you're OK until told otherwise by the land owner himself (not his neighbor). In fact, at the risk of upsetting some people here, I'll say that I'm pretty sick of being told I can't access a PUBLIC waterway. Our state has one of the best public access laws in the country and we should all be able to enjoy our natural resources reguardless of whether some out-of-state summer vacationer has bought all the land around a waterway. Sorry for the rant, just getting tired of hearing Pond X is now off limits.

As an anecdote to emphasis my point, I noticed this spring that Fish and Game was stocking trout in a local brook just upstream of a pond literally in a guy's front yard. He owned all the land around the pond and there was no where to fish upstream. I actually talked to the game warden and asked why they stocked it. He said, as far as the law is concerned, it was a public waterway and I had every right to fish there. So, I floated my kayak through a culvert and into this pond. I may feel differently about this in the future if I ever have enough money to own land near a waterway, but seeing the look on this guy's face when the cops told him I wasn't trespassing as long as i was on the water was just priceless.

I know where your talking about, but watch out for guy across the street. He will have you car towed from what I am told. He parks right there. Be careful at Gumpas if you go.

I got out on Friday at Massesecum and did pretty well.  Caught a bunch of LMB's and a couple SMB's, but nothing over 2 pounds.  Same for yesterday.  Good action, but nothing over 2.

Good action is what it is all about. I myself am seeing the same thing. As long as we have fun trying. :)

I fish cobbetts often. as a resident I had to pay for a key to the launch. you can walk across the beach to put in, but they have swimming lessons at around 8am on saturday and sunday, and they wouldnt be too keen on people trudging across the beach when its in use. I fished there on sunday morning and even with a key they harassed me because your supposed to be out by 8am and i was late, and thats with nobody on the beach.

Hello all! I'm new here and just thought I'd say hi! I live in Milford and have been fishing NH waters for many years. I'm always looking for new spots and to read others stories about certain bodies of water. I'm always looking for people to fish with! I'm sure I'll be around for awhile!
