spin king Posted July 5, 2010 Posted July 5, 2010 Nice job everyone! Things are heating up again!!I've got out the past few mornings and have done well with the smallies. Went LMB fishing at Gile Pond in Sutton today in the canoe, and we had a great time. My buddy caught one around 3.5, and then I caught the pig pictured below at 4 lbs 6 oz (or so my broken scale told me). I then had another pig on that was bigger than the one pictured below and it came off at the boat. It was a real heartbreaker, but made easier by the 4 pounder I caught about 10 minutes later. 5" senkos were working for me, and tubes and creature baits were working fo my buddy. I think it's time for a new scale jaystraw. That fish looks a lot bigger than 4-6 to me. Nice work. Quote
Super User deaknh03 Posted July 5, 2010 Super User Posted July 5, 2010 went to robinson pond saturday, so many boats towing skiiers it was like a parade. wanna go to long pond in danville, has anyone been there? is it worth the trip? Quote
NHfroggin Posted July 6, 2010 Posted July 6, 2010 went to robinson pond saturday, so many boats towing skiiers it was like a parade. wanna go to long pond in danville, has anyone been there? is it worth the trip? I have been fishing long pond in danville for the last 6 years. IMO it has been slowly getting tougher to fish becuase of the milfoil . It does hold decent size fish, i have pulled out a couple 5lb'rs from their but that was a few years back. I put a hurtin' on em this year around the spawn but there was no size to them. Also if your looking for a good lake to fish in this area i would check out kingston lake, it can get busy on the weekends but its worth it. Greenwood pond is also very good but not being a resident i would check with the Kingston PD because its a private launch and its only open on weekends. If you have any other questions let me know. -matt- Quote
Super User deaknh03 Posted July 6, 2010 Super User Posted July 6, 2010 Thanks bassmaster, Kingston pond is where i caught the pig in my avatar, and I was ticketed last time I went to greenwood pond, have you tried pow wow pond? it looks choked out. Quote
NHfroggin Posted July 7, 2010 Posted July 7, 2010 Thanks bassmaster, Kingston pond is where i caught the pig in my avatar, and I was ticketed last time I went to greenwood pond, have you tried pow wow pond? it looks choked out. Yeah i fished the pow wow once this year just to see if it improved and it didn't seem any better, i think i managed 2 lmb under a lb and a couple pickerel. It is filled with milfoil and from what the locals on the lake said about 6 years ago the water level was so low you could walk across the lake. maybe thats why there are a limited number of fish left. Hope this helps. -matt- Quote
eloo Posted July 8, 2010 Posted July 8, 2010 Caught 6 LMB tonight on Turee pond.5 of them on a Stanley Ribbit fished near the shoreline(love that topwater strike). After a pickerel bit through my line, switched to a wacky rigged 5 inch senko and caught 1 more near the outside weedline. Quote
badcrawdad Posted July 8, 2010 Posted July 8, 2010 Wow this heat has made it tough fishin. Didn't really get out much this week but i did spend some time on great east lake in Wakefield. While I only managed to get 2 tiny smallies I was able to help my buddies 5 year old land his first bass ever. I happened to see a couple bass swimming around about 50 feet away from where the boy was fishing. It was tough to get him to slooooow down and let his bait sit still but once he did he hooked up. I got to tell you I love fishing and landing a pig once in a while or just catching alot of small ones. But watching this 5yr old with his little Batman rod land his first bass ever (3 1/4lb LM) was AWESOME!!! Good luck everyone and if you get a chance, take a kid fishing. Quote
unhbass37 Posted July 9, 2010 Author Posted July 9, 2010 I'm having a tough time this year myself. I am catching them, But only one pig this year so far. Not sure what it is. I'm gonna keep at it. Gonna head out later today I think. Quote
Super User Shane J Posted July 9, 2010 Super User Posted July 9, 2010 UNH, where you goin? I still got that small pond by me to take you to if you want. I fished it yesterday from 5:30-10:30am, and I had one probably over 6.5 lbs break off right as I leaned over to lip her. You probably heard me yell from your house! Then I did land a fatty 4.5lber, and my hook set went through her eye and actually popped the eye right out, and while I was looking at it, she kicked her tail, and fell out of my grasp and fell right back in the water. Ticked I didn't get the picture, but oh well. It has been slower fishing there, but there's the chance of landing a hawg! Quote
badcrawdad Posted July 9, 2010 Posted July 9, 2010 Shane, I am also in Pembroke. What is the small pond you're talking about? Or is it a secret? Sounds like some place I'd like to check out. Quote
Super User Shane J Posted July 9, 2010 Super User Posted July 9, 2010 It's not quite a secret, but I don't wanna just throw it out there, either. If you want to, send me a PM, and we can hit it up. As long as you release all the bass! Keep the monster crappie and gills if you want, though! I'll actually be out there today at some point. You really need a small boat to fish it effectively. The people that fish it from shore (there's a couple locals), only catch dinks, pickerel, and pan fish mostly. Quote
NHFisher Posted July 9, 2010 Posted July 9, 2010 Shane, we might have to talk about that spot sometime. I'm in pembroke too and I'm going to get a inflatable boat today and maybe a trolling motor. I wish I could head out today but the wife has to work. I'll be trying to get out in the AM tomorrow hopefully. Quote

I live in Bow and heard Shane howl.I thought it was the Wolfman .Speaking of fatties,I've noticed over the past week or so that the LMB at Turee pond are getting chunkier.Caught 3 last eve and even the small ones(12-13in)had a nice belly.I caught the largest one pitching a Stanley Ribbit into a small opening in the weeds right next to to the shoreline. It was 17in. and had a large belly.Looked like it had been feasting. Most of the LMB I've taken out of Turee tend to be somewhat thin but they appear to be lining up at the buffet,at least lately. Super User Shane J Posted July 9, 2010 Super User Posted July 9, 2010 NHfisher, that's a perfect setup for that place, and for lots of places! Good for you, man! You are gonna love that thing. Let me know when you are all set up, and we can hit some spots! For the small ponds, I just run a 10' jon with a 36lb trolling motor. Quote
jaystraw Posted July 10, 2010 Posted July 10, 2010 NIce to see people are catching!! wagn and I got ot for about 4 hours yesterday morning until my trolling motor pin bent. We did pretty well catching LMB's and SMB's in about 4-8 feet of water. Usually near cover of some sort. Wagn caught most of his on a spinnerbait, and I caught most of mine on senkos and yamamoto tubes rigged on a gitzit jig head. Sorry about he short trip wagn! I drilled the hole out and now the correct pin fits so we should not have that problem again. I'm also getting another prop just in case that groove is bending them. Quote

wagn Posted July 10, 2010 Posted July 10, 2010 No problem Jay. It was a good morning and a nice day. It gave me the afternoon to get some stuff done around the house, so at least my wife was happy Quote
unhbass37 Posted July 12, 2010 Author Posted July 12, 2010 Had a chance to try saltwater fishing and I really didn't like it as much as freshwater. Maybe it's because I didn't catch anything . We just fished from a pier in Maine. I'm sure a boat would of helped and a guide, But at this point I'll stick to LMB and SMB. Quote

Salt water fishing is a blast, striper's and blues are fun, great fight on freshwater tackle Striper's are in now, i have been fishing them for the past two weeks 25" was the biggest one, no keepers yet. -matt- Quote
eloo Posted July 14, 2010 Posted July 14, 2010 Good luck to everyone this friday.I'll be on the way to NYC to visit family and friends.5 LMB tonight on Turee pond all on Stanley Ribbits in tight and I do mean tight cover.Ribbits are a very versatile bait. You can work them on top or as I have discovered pitch them into tight cover.4 out of the 5 caught tonight were tucked under very tight cover right on the shoreline. The Ribbit slowly sinks and with a slight twitch or pull has very good action underwater.I was pitching into small openings 10-12ft from the boat and they were hitting it hard.Pitched into an opening that was no more than 3-4ft from the boat not really expecting anything and while looking off into the distance and not paying attention nearly had my rod ripped from my hands by a good sized LMB.It happened so suddenly that I had no chance to set the hook and the bass was gone almost as quickly as it appeared. What a rush! fmoore Posted July 14, 2010 Posted July 14, 2010 Small tourney last night. 9 boats. Ended up in second with a 10.38 pound bag plus I caught the lunker in a weed bed on a wacky rigged Senko. She went 4.64. We caught lots of dinks last night. Quote
Super User Shane J Posted July 14, 2010 Super User Posted July 14, 2010 Nice job, fmoore! Nice fish you got there. Whose doing local tournys at night around here, and is it something I could get into? Quote
