nashua fisherman Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 What is the best place to fish if you don't have a boat in southern NH? me and my wife have both done really well at mill pond. we caught these two in april. wife caught hers from the shore. the canal can be productive too before the millfoil grows in. weve also had some luck shorefishing lake masabesic in auburn, the nashua river and merimack river. your best bet is to beg, borrow or steal a boat, canue, kyak or raft. theres always a good deal on craigslist. the only shorefishing i do now is when i have bass withdrawels and i cant find anyone to help load my boat. good luck. unhbass37 Posted August 14, 2009 Author Posted August 14, 2009 Got out tonight with Nashua Fisherman for a few hours and we both did really well. Most fish were well over a 1 pound. Nashua Fisherman also caught a nice size pickerel also. My biggest was 5lbs 8oz which ties my PB. Â Here is a picture. Thanks again to Nashua Fisherman for the using his boat again. Good luck tommorow. Quote
nhbassin Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 Thanks unhbass and sausage fingers. Ive been using ribbit frogs and getting a few hits at Mill Pond but none of them are staying hooked. Also been walking along the channel and throwing senkos near bass when I can see them swimming by, and they want nothing to do with it. Only luck ive had has been with soft plastic swimbaits. Ill try the jig and trailer next time and hopefully have some more luck. Quote
nashua fisherman Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 got out from 8am to 12 with my father inlaw today and caught about 20 fish between the two of us. six of them were pickeral and my f.i.l. caught a big one. most of the bass were around a pound but we did manage a few 1.8 and 1.12's. he caught most of his on a mepps spinner and i caught all of mine on rubber worms. it was a good day. unhbass37 Posted August 14, 2009 Author Posted August 14, 2009 Cool Nashua Fisherman. Glad you did well. I may go out later if you want to go let me know, But I have yard work to do now and I think the bite will be better when it cools down. I'm thinking around 5ish if I go. Quote
catchbig0bass Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 question for you guys. A friend has a nice 13' row boat with a 15hp motor on it. Can a gas motor be allowed in Mill pond? Quote
unhbass37 Posted August 14, 2009 Author Posted August 14, 2009 No gas motors allowed. There is a sign at the launch. Quote
unhbass37 Posted August 15, 2009 Author Posted August 15, 2009 Got out tonight for about 1hrs and I caught 3 Bass. Biggest was 6lbs 12oz (My new PB) and a nice 2lbs 10oz and a 1lbs 13oz. All fish were caught on senkos (love that WORM). Here is a video and a pictures. I know in the video I sound retarted, But I was VERY excited. And I know I said he was a monster, But I meant SHE. I only wish I had someone there to help with the picture/video, But you get the point. Yes she was safety released to be caught again. Â ;D Â Quote

baboosicbass08 Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 Great fish guys, nice pb unh! Haven't been out freshwater fishing in a little over 3 weeks now, hopefully that will change this week. Went to Old Orchard Beach this past weekend with my buddy who has a condo up there. We went out on his sail boat Sunday morning to try to get some fishing in but there was no wind, so we didn't get much fishing in. Even though we didn't get to fish really, it was a PERFECT weekend at the beach up there. Quote
unhbass37 Posted August 17, 2009 Author Posted August 17, 2009 OOB is a nice place and the views can be really great up there. I feel it's to hot to be out there now so I don't think your missing much. I personally think the pool is a better option at this moment. Â Quote
NHfroggin Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 Nice Fish UNH!! congrats on the new PB!! I went out the past two mornings, Sunday to long pond in danville caught 12 lmb all on a rage toads in heavy weeds and this morning to kingston lake, only caught three. 3 fish were caught this morning before sunrise when it was cooler, the bite seemed like it stopped when the sun started to rise, although managed one crankin a rapala DT16 in about 20+- feet of water. It was a fun trip even though I did not get a chance to fish it was fun to see them catch'em also. Fishing was tough and a challenage with the water 84 degress, But I was happy all three of them caught a bass. . All fish were caught on Senkos . Here are is a picture of my sons. Quote
NHfroggin Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 Nice fish UNH, was thee someone at the boat launch telling you about the bacteria in the water? i wen to bring the dog in the other day and they were telling people not to go in the water. just a heads up here is a article i found http://www.eagletribune.com/punewsnh/local_story_232001727.html/resources_printstory I got out the past two nights to long pond in danville, caught over 10 lmb each trip, as the sun went down the bites increased and they started to explode on poppers. very fun and exciting fishing. -matt- Quote
unhbass37 Posted August 21, 2009 Author Posted August 21, 2009 No, But I heard about it on WMUR news. We did see the boat patrol out there, But they did not say anything either. I got to get back to top water. It is fun to watch I agree. Quote
rondef Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 Does any one in Southern NH want to hook up and fish Friday August 28th? I am coming up from Northern, VA for the weekend and I have Friday available to fish. If you are interested please send me a PM, I have a bunch of Rage Tail baits I want to try out up there. nashua fisherman Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 went out to robinson pond with the wife a couple times this week and caught a bunch of small bass. i never relized how much weeds are in there. we went from 6:30 to 8:30 both times and all fish were caught on or near structure. acording to my fishfinder they are even out in the middle. one thing we noticed is the mosquitos wake up hungry around 8:15 every night.
