unhbass37 Posted August 7, 2009 Author Posted August 7, 2009 Got out today at Great Pond and caught 8 bass and 1 pickerel. Many thanks to Matt Bassmaster6 for his help. Awesome place and will be back soon. Biggest was 3lbs even and I also caught 2+ pounders. No little guys either. Fun day besides the high winds. It was nice to fish out of my tracker for a change. Here are some pictures Quote
Super User Shane J Posted August 7, 2009 Super User Posted August 7, 2009 Yeah, as I said, got out to Massebesic yesterday and got one 3 1/2 lb Largemouth on a Rage Shad, and a 1 1/2 lb smallie on a C rigged Rage Lizard. I got out there at 4:30am, and it was dead calm, with a full moon, so I expected more from the topwater bite than 1 bass, but it was a great morning and day to be out there on the water. Quote

NHfroggin Posted August 8, 2009 Posted August 8, 2009 Nice job UNH, glad you got sme nice fish on that lake!! -matt- Quote
Super User Shane J Posted August 8, 2009 Super User Posted August 8, 2009 I didn't try any cranks, and I probably should have, because I was seeing fish around 10'-20', but I pretty much like using plastics most of the time. I did try a wacky rigged GP Senko, because my wife left her rod in my boat, and it was already rigged, but nothing. I'm gonna hit it again on Monday, and I'm gonna try a little variety of things if I have to. Quote
nashua fisherman Posted August 9, 2009 Posted August 9, 2009 went out to the merrimack river this evening with my neighbor and caught around 10 smallmouth bass. most on a spinnerbait. nothing over a pound, but a good time anyways. Quote
catchbig0bass Posted August 10, 2009 Posted August 10, 2009 Nice fishing everyone. Nashua - Ur a lucky one heck everytime I fish the merrimack I get skunked. Got out to a few spots over the weekend. Beaver lake, got skunked. Caught a pickeral decent size on a senko over at hood pond in derry and caught a bunch of fish at my little spot. The gf caught a few nice 1lbers as well. heres a few pics. nashua fisherman Posted August 10, 2009 Posted August 10, 2009 beaverlake sucks imo. try fishing the merimack where the nashua river dumps in behind the skatepark. wear boots or be prepared to fall on your toe. i caught a smallie there earlyer this week on a spinnerbait. if you have access to a boat with a motor you can put in the merimack behing kirpatrics(or shore fish there.) we caught most of ours up towards merrimack/litchfeild. there are alot of rocks so dont throw anything too expensive, you might not get it back. i did better than my neibor who was using rubber worms. also, the 20# carp in the latest hawkeye was caught under the hudson/nashua bridge. good luck. Ya never had any luck at beaverlake. Been out a few times on the merrimack in a boat with no luck, as well as going under the bridge over by canal st that crosses into hudson with no luck. Friends of mine are always carp fishing down there. I guess its a lot of fun but man are they just uggggggly fish. Quote
nashua fisherman Posted August 10, 2009 Posted August 10, 2009 unhbass, ill get you the number when i see my neibor Quote
unhbass37 Posted August 10, 2009 Author Posted August 10, 2009 Anyone know how to get a permit to fish Big Island Pond in Derry? I called the number in the clarks book, But am getting no answer. I heard it was 20 bucks? I want to get out there later this week if possible. Any info would be appreciated. Quote
unhbass37 Posted August 10, 2009 Author Posted August 10, 2009 Ok Thanks. I am going out tommorow night around 5pm if you want to go. Not sure where yet. I haven't been out since Friday and it's KILLING me. :'( Been busy with my sons hockey camp. Quote
nashua fisherman Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 got out to flints pond for a couple of hours yesterday with unhbass. i caught a couple pickeral and a bass. the fishing was slow for unhbass at first, but he figured it out and caught around 6 or 7 bass. nothing big but they had big bellies. the launch overgrown so you need to padle to get out. Quote
unhbass37 Posted August 13, 2009 Author Posted August 13, 2009 Yes it was fun. I really need to work on fishing all shallow water though. I usually look for deeper water when it's HOT. Maybe next week we can take the tracker out. I need to get through hockey camp this week. My fishing now is limited to only a couple of hrs and late if I get out. Quote
nhbassin Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 Hey guys, I just started fishing Mill Pond in Nashua during my lunch breaks for an hour or so and was wondering if any of you guys have fished there lately. If so, what have you been doing well with? Quote
unhbass37 Posted August 13, 2009 Author Posted August 13, 2009 First off welcome. I know that pond very well and have fished a lot, I will tell you this the milfoil is so bad now it's gonna be really tough to fish through it. Scum frog is really your only choice now. I killed there all season up until the end of july. I did go there last night and still caught two bass and a pickerel, but it was very tough. Nashua fisherman knows this pond to and will tell you the same I'm sure. There are some big hawgs there just check some of the posts earlier, but will take some work and patience to get them now. Good luck and if I can offer any more help just ask. Quote
SausageFingers23 Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 Hey guys, I just started fishing Mill Pond in Nashua during my lunch breaks for an hour or so and was wondering if any of you guys have fished there lately. If so, what have you been doing well with? Welcome aboard. Unhbass is the resident expert on that place, and most others for that matter. With that in mind, Ill offer what I can. I fish there occassionally. In the morning and late evening, a weedless topwater frog has been pretty decent. Otherwise try a weedless worm rig or jig with a craw trailer. Unh hooked me up with that technique and its been reasonably productive. I havent fished there lately, as the millfoil is unbelieveably thick now. Good luck. Let us know how you make out. Quote
kid-fisher2000 Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 What is the best place to fish if you don't have a boat in southern NH? Quote
unhbass37 Posted August 13, 2009 Author Posted August 13, 2009 I would say mill pond in Nashua, but that is from april till early July. The milfoil is to thick now to fish it effectivly. Quote
