helms83 Posted September 23, 2010 Author Posted September 23, 2010 I miss that area from when I was at Campbell. I'm at knox now, fish at Nolin, Rough so far, a few other lakes in the area. Quote
bcaz01 Posted September 25, 2010 Posted September 25, 2010 how is rough river lake? haven't been there in over 10 years. do they drop it much for the winter? Quote
helms83 Posted September 27, 2010 Author Posted September 27, 2010 Not sure, I just moved to the area from TN. Went out early this summer, when the water was still high, and it wasn't too bad. Nothing over 2lbs though. Quote

unclejed Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 I'm surprised there are not more postings on this KY site. I live a couple miles from Herrington Lake so that is where I do most of my fishing. I would like to fish Lake Cumberland more but just don't get the chance to make it down there often. Every time I've been there it was to fish for stripers now my 14 year old son wants to fish a Jr bass tournament toward the end of March out of Conley Bottom. I would love to be able to put him on some fish but I just don't know how LM and SM live in a lake with such large stripers. Right now I am planning on hitting a creek and just working our way to the back. If I'm in a creek with stripers, will there be black bass in there as well? From what I remember, there is not much cover on that lake. I would really appreciate any advice I could get on fishing this lake. Quote
unclejed Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 So, what is going on around the state? Anyone catching anything? My son and I went to Cumberland this past Sat. and didn't have any luck at all. I talked to a few people that cought them but it was just slow day. I'm thinking this coming weekend will be better with all the warm weather. We'll be out there somewhere (probably Herrington) fishing, and hopefully catching. Quote
fishinfantatic Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 I fished Cumberland a few times last week.. but I'm pretty new to fishing, and really new to Lake Cumberland. Still learnin the ropes! Caught 2 little largemouths from the bank on soft plastics, though. First time I'd ever caught anything using something other than a nightcrawler and a bobber. I was really excited. Would love to meet up with someone to learn the ways! Quote
bucky Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 I am 35 minutes from Ky and Barkley (north end). I fish fairly often so if any of you want to share my boat with me you are more than welcome. Just send me an email and perhaps we can work out a trip. Will keep you from having to tow you boat. I am not a pro, just a week end fisherman so don't expect too much lol. Quote
Mushraeddur Posted April 16, 2011 Posted April 16, 2011 I live in Bullitt County. The closest lake to me is probably Taylorsville Lake. I've only fished worm and bobber out there. This is the first "season?" I'll be having a go with spinners and crankbaits. I have not had much luck with worm/bobber at Taylorsville...not sure what the bass fishing is like out there. Anyone out there know? Nolin Lake and Rough River Lake are about the same distance from me I think, maybe 1 1/2 hour drive. I'm gonna head out that way some after school is out. I'm open to any tips and suggestions for fishing any of those three lakes. I just ordered a new baitcast reel. I'm looking forward to learning how to use it before getting to the lakes. Quote

DavidWH Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 Thought I would bring this one back. Anyone catching anything in the NKY tri state area? Wondering what is working after these mini heat waves also. I have bought a new fish/ski boat, so I am looking for a good place to put in without any HP limits. Something within an hour of the area if possible. Quote

Michael T McIntosh Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 I'm in NKY. Fish the river mostly. Been having a fairly good year. Several fish in the 3-4lb range. Mostly small mouth with a sprinkling of Largemouth. Going to Cumberland this weekend. Quote
DavidWH Posted July 22, 2011 Posted July 22, 2011 What area do you normally fish on the river? I have been wanting to try fishing it, just so much area. Hard to know where to start. Quote
zbeaver Posted July 23, 2011 Posted July 23, 2011 I live in Newport and just purchased a fishing boat (16 ft jon boat with a 6.9 hp motor), looking to start fishing more small tournaments or join a bass club. Does anyone know of any Bass clubs in the NKY or Cincinnati area that cater to Anglers with smaller boats or fish smaller lakes? Thank You, Stephen ? Anyone in the northern ky area? Quote
