Hey all. Looking for good spots to wet a line in the Southern part of NH. I'm in Salem and have fished the most common spots (Canobie,Arlington Pond) and wasn't overly impressed. Maybe I just got there on a bad day...who knows? I usually take a spring trip with some buddies up to North Conway to fish Conway Lake during the spawn and as amazing as that lake is (50 a day not unusual), its a little too far to go to very often. Anywhere closer by that anyone would care to share?

I'm a southern NH guy as well. There are a couple decent spots in the area that you could try, but I would suggest keeping up with, and even reading previous posts (I know there are a lot) of the "Anyone have any luck in Southern NH" thread.

That is what I did when I first joined the forum. It took me a while, since it is probably the longest thread on this site, but I got some good tips and learned names of some local people who use the forum.

If you're just looking for some quick names of popular fishing locations, here they are:

Robinson Pond

Potanipo Lake

Mill Pond

Nashua, and Merrimack rivers

Cobbetts Pond

Powder Mill Pond

Massabesic Lake

Turkey Pond

However, don't expect to find the "perfect pond". I'm still looking for it myself. That place where the only bass are 5+ pounders, where the shriners and the lepers play their ukuleles all day long, and the towels are oh so fluffy.

Bonus points to anyone who can tell me what off-centered song I'm referencing. Eternal friendship to anyone who can recite the entire song from memory.

Nice, nixstyx. The places you listed are great suggestions, and you covered some I would have recommended also. What kind of boat do you have, jaay? That would sway my recommendations heavily. Also, nix is right, for the quickest response from the biggest audience of NH dwellers, hop on in the thread mentioned by nix, and fire away. Hope to see you on the water, bud!

Thanks for the input guys. I have actually fished a few of those places already, especially Massabesic. Grew up in Manchester so I have been all over that lake. But there are couple places that you mentioned that I will have to look into. As for what kind of boat I have, its an older 16ft Sea Nymph that we put casting decks in. Shes not pretty but she fits the need. I found a 68 Evinrude 18HP a couple years ago that someone had actually replaced the powerhead with a 20HP. Again, she wont win any speed races but shes comfortable and gets us where we need to go. I am actually keeping en eye out for something smaller to throw in the back of my truck so i can hit the smaller waters or places without a ramp.
