Branuss04 Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 Well it's getting time for bed fishing, and there have been a few post about polarized glasses. Here is another site for you guys to consider. http://www.alternaeyewear.com/ All you do is when you go to check out, there will be a promotion code box (Or something similar) Just enter 687 in the box, basically all you pay for is the shipping and handling, which is based on the original price of the item. I got a $230 pair along with a case, and it cost me $25 shipped. It came in like 2-3 days. I wasn't sure about the glasses at first, but I figured i'm only out $25 if I dont' like them. I got them and they are super light and super comfortable. As far as the polarized lenses go, I haven't been able to test them in the water yet, but i'll let you guys know. This is just another option for you guys looking for polarized glasses. I think they have 10 or so choices for polarized. Also if you order 4 pairs of glasses, you get to choose a free watch. Quote
Super User Gone_Phishin Posted March 10, 2008 Super User Posted March 10, 2008 What model did you get? The Rage model looks pretty sweet. Quote
Branuss04 Posted March 10, 2008 Author Posted March 10, 2008 I got the vectors, because I wanted the light brown lenses, and they also came with a second set of lenses. The rage were my 3rd choice. Quote
Super User grimlin Posted March 10, 2008 Super User Posted March 10, 2008 Just order the vectors...Thanks! How did you get that promotional code? Quote

Super User Gone_Phishin Posted March 10, 2008 Super User Posted March 10, 2008 Cool. I'm going to give them buzz tomorrow and see if they accept money orders. Quote
BassFishingMachine Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 Just a quick question, are the lenses glass, or plastic? Quote
guitarkid Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 I just bought a nice pair of sunglasses, but if I had to do it again, I would get the roadsters. I just like aviators. -searoach Quote
moloch16 Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 Hmmm I'm not sure about this. $25 to ship a pair of sunglasses? These glasses don't look any better than what I can buy at Wal-Mart. Just because they claim the glasses MSRP for $200 doesn't mean they are worth what they claim. Quote

BassFishingMachine Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 Hmm, don't know about this, seems kind of too good to be true type deal. What do you think branuss, do they seem quality? Or anyone here have a pair who can answer that question? Quote
brian_82 Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 If and when anyone recieves theirs, post up on how they are quality wise. Quote
Zel Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 One has to wonder when any 3 digit number entered into the promo code will get you the sunglasses for free. Don't really know, but gut feeling has me thinking you are getting a pair of sunglasses that would normally sell for about $10-$15. Quote
Super User grimlin Posted March 10, 2008 Super User Posted March 10, 2008 I always buy those walmart cheap ones.Either way it was only $19.00.Will let you know how i like mine. Quote
Branuss04 Posted March 10, 2008 Author Posted March 10, 2008 Well here is my take on them... The lenses are plastic, which is fine by me cause i've never been a fan of glass lenses, the ones i've had have always been too heavy The vectors I got are no way the quality of Costa's, Oakley, etc, but they ARE better quality then the Wal-Mart glasses, beleive me, that's all I own. Are they really worth the MSRP???? No, but for $25 for a pair of glasses, an extra set of lenses, a case for both the glasses and extra lenses, i'm a pretty happy customer. If your budget minded give it a try, Quote

powerman970 Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 I guess everyone noticed that you can get up to 4 "free" pairs of glasses and they will throw in a watch if you buy that many. Makes me wonder why they are giving away a gift for you to take all that "free" stuff that will cost you $100 in shipping charges and then you have to pay more shipping on the watch. $100 seems like a lot to pay for something that is "free". Yeah.. that "type any 3 digit numbers you want" into the pormo bar, kind of made me say pass. Seems like this is some type of scam etc. Im just going to have to stick with the old saying "You get what you pay for" as it has never steered me wrong in the past. But thanks anyway for the post. Tetra Posted March 13, 2008 Posted March 13, 2008 yea i saw this advertisement in an older issue of rolling stone. i did some research and found out the glasses weren't really worth the MSRP. Quote

Super User roadwarrior Posted March 13, 2008 Super User Posted March 13, 2008 Yeah, well... I know you young guns don't think you need more advice from the "old farts" or Team Depends when it comes to shopping, but I'm going to warn you anyhow! Nothing is FREE! As a general rule, I would rather pay full-bore retail than get anything for "free". Pay attention to the details, that's where the devil hides! 8-) Quote
Super User grimlin Posted March 13, 2008 Super User Posted March 13, 2008 I just needed a pair of glasses....Don't care if they aren't worth $200 or whatever...if they are better than the walmart ones for the same price walmart sells glasses for i ain't got anything to complain about. i remember buying a pair of raybans somewhere for $20 @ the time they were running over $100 for those glasses.Somebody on the street saw them and wanted to buy them for $50.I made $30 profit that day. ;D My intentions weren't on the original price, just on if they were better quality than my usual $20 pair of walmart glasses. To be quite honest i value branuss04's opinion.I know full well the risk of "you pay what you get". You guys are making a bigger deal than it's worth to make. :-/ Quote
