Hey everybody, with school ending and summer starting, it gives me much more time to fish.  I would like to know if anybody could direct me to good fishing holes in Bergen County.  I do not have a boat so I fish from shore.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try the various stretches of the Hackensack river, from the spillways of the Oradell Reservoir in Riveredge to Carstadt and Secaucus were Stripers can be had.

Darlington as you mention is great for cookie cutter bass on spinnerbaits.

Ramapo River for Trout.

Saddle River.

I live in bergen county and my recommendation to you is to get on 208 north or 287 south and head into west milford/wanaque/ringwood.  These 3 towns are covered in water.

I used to live in Ringwood and while I was there I did a lot of hiking. Let me tell you, in just about any part of town you would find water. Be it a small stream, small lake or large pond. Can't really go wrong, just two things to keep in mind.. A few of the lakes/streams are under private ownership and patroled regularly. Also there are a lot of critters in that town. Bears, coyotes, racoons, foxes. I was hearing about some bobcats out in stowntown for a while too. Just keep your wits about you if you're in Ringwood(or Westmilford) and tight lines no matter where you fish!
