oprcsr Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 Raystown is a bit far for me this year, hopefully it goes well and I can try to make the next one! Quote
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted July 27, 2010 Super User Posted July 27, 2010 My vote is in for the Saturday in September, but honestly I can probably make just about any of those (depending on work). Quote
NateFollmer Posted July 27, 2010 Author Posted July 27, 2010 Cool, I think we will let this run until Wed. and we will be set! We need to pick a launch point though HAHA. There's 4 that I know of that have good fishing and are usually light on traffic. Here is info on all the launch areas: http://raystown.nab.usace.army.mil/Activities/boating.htm I'd say Snyder's Run, Aitch, James Creek or Shy Beaver would be ok for us to use. They all offer some good fishing spots and usually don't get nailed by the boaters. Guess we will have to have 1 more poll after this one EDIT: Don't forget to buy your launch passes (they are $3.00) http://raystown.nab.usace.army.mil/passes.htm EDIT Again: You can get these at the launches too so forget that last part. jake Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 As of right now Sept. is out for me. I voted Oct 24th. which doesnt look good. Quote
paangler3117 Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 I would be up for fishing too, I can haul one other person too! (15' ebbtide 40hp)Â should be great about then. I feel the odds would be good for someone to nail a tiger too! Jim Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 My vote is in...10/3. 9/25 is leading slightly but I have a club tx that day. Quote
fishn hard Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 I Will not cast a vote Ill just be there when you guys decide its only a 30 min drive for me and let me know if any one wants to fish with me Quote
NateFollmer Posted July 28, 2010 Author Posted July 28, 2010 LOL This is a tense race! I hope 10/3 wins so DVT can make it! paangler - I hope we can nail a tiger! They get BIG in Raystown (everything is big in there, I've caught bluegills that looked like dinner plates). There's also some man eating cats.... Ok maybe not man eating, but they are weird lookin'! Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted July 28, 2010 Super User Posted July 28, 2010 My question is where the hell are all these votes coming from? 29? I haven't seen more than 10 or so people post up in this thread... Quote

If you vote for multiple dates, it counts as votes. For example, I voted for all the Sundays in Oct. so it said there was 4 votes. I bet most of us voted for more than 1 date. Quote
boatnik13 Posted July 29, 2010 Posted July 29, 2010 Now you tell me! so we could stuff the ballet and 9 becomes 29. I just now noticed the part about multi picks. Quote

I hope you have your helmet on... : If you come, we are taking your boat too HA I want to fish with the camera... cheaters! Quote
NateFollmer Posted July 29, 2010 Author Posted July 29, 2010 Ok Gentlemen, Saturday Sept. 25th wins! It was a close race, but that date took it. Now, I guess I should make 1 more poll to pick a launch. Anyone have any we should ABSOLUTELY avoid? I was thinking Snyder's Run, Aitch, James Creek or Shy Beaver would be ok for us to use. I'll get ya all a map in a second... Snyder's Run: http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&q=Raystown+Snyders+Run+Launch&sll=40.443224,-78.035631&sspn=0.021523,0.045447&ie=UTF8&t=h&split=1&filter=0&rq=1&ev=zo&radius=1.43&hq=Raystown+Snyders+Run+Launch&hnear=&ll=40.438129,-78.035245&spn=0.021525,0.045447&z=15 Aitch: http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=Raystown+Aitch+Launch&sll=40.438129,-78.035245&sspn=0.021525,0.045447&ie=UTF8&hq=Raystown+Aitch+Launch&hnear=&ll=40.373097,-78.15691&spn=0.021546,0.045447&t=h&z=15 James Creek (Bottom Left of the map): http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=Raystown+James+Creek+Launch&sll=40.373097,-78.15691&sspn=0.021546,0.045447&ie=UTF8&hq=Raystown+James+Creek+Launch&hnear=&ll=40.367016,-78.157468&spn=0.02073,0.045447&t=h&z=15 Shy Beaver (I've never been there, but I'm almost positive its off Logging Rd 31025... Sounds like it's out in the sticks): http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=Shy+Beaver+Raystown+Pa&sll=40.582671,-78.894196&sspn=0.687311,1.454315&ie=UTF8&hq=Shy+Beaver&hnear=Bedford,+Pennsylvania&ll=40.301834,-78.208408&spn=0.010375,0.022724&t=h&z=16 EDIT: let me put it this way... If you want Stripers, launch at Snyder's and head toward the dam, everything else, use any other launch Quote
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted July 29, 2010 Super User Posted July 29, 2010 I would be down for wherever the most amount of water away from the main lake is. Will look at maps and re-post. Quote
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted July 29, 2010 Super User Posted July 29, 2010 Looks like James Creek would get my vote. I have been out of Aitch and Shy Beaver before, never James Creek. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted July 29, 2010 Super User Posted July 29, 2010 We'll need a final list of boaters and riders. i'll ride, or i can come down and smoke you losers from my kayak. Quote
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted July 29, 2010 Super User Posted July 29, 2010 Aitch and James creek are 1.5 hours for me, either one would work. Francho, my swimbaits can eat your swimbaits.  ;D Quote
Super User J Francho Posted July 29, 2010 Super User Posted July 29, 2010 Francho, my swimbaits can eat your swimbaits. ;D Probably, but catching swimbaits don't count. its swimbaits that catch that do. Quote
Walz Posted July 29, 2010 Posted July 29, 2010 Only having very minimal experience with Raystown (ie. only been fishing there once), I am pretty neutral on launch location. I have a friend they may come with me, but if he decides not to, I will have a spot available on my boat. I will let you know shortly. Quote
NateFollmer Posted July 29, 2010 Author Posted July 29, 2010 Yeah, I'll get this poll made now... Everyone, post if your riding or bringing a boat. If you're bringing a boat, list if you have any spots open. I will def. be bringing the v bottom, but I may bring the canoe also if anyone wants to use it. Heck, I might have my second v bottom titled and ready to go by Sept. so maybe I could bring it also HA. Quote
NateFollmer Posted July 29, 2010 Author Posted July 29, 2010 And launch poll is up BOATNIK: MULTIPLES ARE ALLOWED! The only objection I would have to James is if there is a tournament. I'll troll the web and look at the area clubs but I don't think there is one that weekend. Quote
boatnik13 Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 Snyder looks best for all boats and engine size to rowboats. I've put my Lil' 12' semi in James cr one year with just a trolling motor. took all day to fish the section and never made it to the main lake but boat traffic was heavy. Tree tops below 25' if your trolling. Never tried snyder but looks more like no wake zones and steep drops. A better deal for the Lil guy. Quote
Walz Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 I am bringing my boat, and will have a spot open. Quote
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted July 30, 2010 Super User Posted July 30, 2010 I'm bringing my boat and will likely have BadKarma42 with me. Three is doable, but it's tight. Havent had three in it since I built the front deck and put the front TM on. Quote
