NateFollmer Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 I see NH had some success with there meet up and I've noticed a ton of Pa members joining lately. Who would be up for a meet up? We could fish a lake or river (Susquehanna!) that is central to the mass of people (it looks like a lot of you are near the York, Harrisburg area). I'd be willing to travel anywhere! Who's with me! We can iron out the details once we get people willing to do it. Quote
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted July 20, 2010 Super User Posted July 20, 2010 I'd be down for that. I have a boat, but it is set up for the electric only lakes so no big stuff for me. Quote
Super User bassfisherjk Posted July 20, 2010 Super User Posted July 20, 2010 Count me in also.If my work schedule permits I'll be there. Quote
oprcsr Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 Yeah depending on time and date I could try to make it. I don't have a boat here but have a kayak! I'm down in York but could travel to Harrisburg area or around there. I've got two young kids so it all depends on them and the wife:) Quote

Well, it has an outboard but it's out of commission at the moment How far is Redman for everyone? EDIT: heres a map http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&q=redman+lake+pa&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=Lake+Redman&ll=39.891168,-76.69487&spn=0.043398,0.090895&z=14 Edit again: Or Pinchot: http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=pinchot+lake+pa&sll=40.073573,-76.88889&sspn=0.021641,0.045447&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=Pinchot+Lake&z=14 Any other suggestions? I want to try and get something close for everyone (gonna be hard). Quote
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted July 20, 2010 Super User Posted July 20, 2010 I have fished Pinchot and it is not the easiest lake in the world to fish. Massive, massive amounts of shad make it tough to entice a bite this time of year. Weeds make it rough as well. Never fished Redman. Lake Williams is also right there near it. Quote
NateFollmer Posted July 20, 2010 Author Posted July 20, 2010 I have never fished Redman or Williams either but I see them mentioned here. I'm sick of fishing the same 4 lakes anyway so it would be a nice change for me We can let this thread ride for a little and see where everyone is coming from, then decide from there. Weekends work better for you guys? I work M-F and I'm out of vacation days HAHA. Quote
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted July 20, 2010 Super User Posted July 20, 2010 Weekends are usually fine for me, depending on my schedule for the P/T job. I am not opposed to travel if the lake is special. Quote
Walz Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 I would be interested. It would most likely need to be on the weekend for me as well. I live in Grantville (just N of Harrisburg). I can bring my boat (G3 1652CC, 60/40 jet). Location does not matter too much to me. I am up for wherever. The only thing would be if any of the electric only lakes require that gas motors be removed. Not sure if any are like that, but I probably wouldn't bring my boat then. Quote
oprcsr Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 Redman/Williams are about 5 minutes away from me:) Both are on the PA Big Bass lake list. They both have metric ton of shad but I've had decent largemouth luck on both when I've kayaked them. Williams had been very low but is now back up to normal or close to normal. Neither is huge, I think Redman is a bit deeper and bigger but not by a ton. Fish wise both have largemouth, striper, tiger musky, walleye, and channel cats. I prefer Williams as it is less busy. I haven't went to Pinchot, but there is also Lake Marburg in Codorus State Park near Hanover. I've heard good things about there as well. http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=Lake+Marburg&sll=37.0625,-95.677068&sspn=54.137829,79.013672&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=Lake+Marburg&z=14 Edit: Also on that map of Redman/Williams there are two spots where you really can't fish on both lakes so it makes them a bit smaller than they look. On Redman the area south of Hess Farm gets really really shallow, so much so I was hitting mud with my kayak. And on Williams the area around the bend where it says South George St is off limits. NateFollmer Posted July 20, 2010 Author Posted July 20, 2010 We should all go fish on some private property, make a huge mess, take all the fish out of their pond and put signs up "BASS RESOURCE WAS HERE!" Pillage like pirates! No seriously, I'm glad to see so much interest in such a short amount of time. Oprcsr - do you have any other suggestions from that area? I don't know the southern part of the state too well. I don't care what size the lake is, as long as it has fish in it I'm forcing boatnic to come with us too! Quote

oprcsr Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 Only other spots I have heard about are tiny state park lakes which might not even allow a boat (kayaks are different) Laurel Lake Pond is one. Beyond that is the Susky, I've only fished there once up above HBurg and didn't have much luck. I've heard the area around Cumberland is good though. Quote

Susky might be too swift for us electric guys I think boatnic mapped Redman and Williams both... I know he just did Walker too, but that would be a hike for you guys. Quote
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted July 20, 2010 Super User Posted July 20, 2010 You can cross Laurel Lake off the list. Small, shallow and water is probably about 90 degrees in this heat. I have had my boat on it before, but one good turn on the TM and you are across the other side. Quote

At some point this summer, I plan on dragging the boat up to Canoe Lake (another lake I grew up fishing). I know that is close to a couple of you guys... Shawnee is a "maybe" as well. I have heard differing reports of water quality and fishing info. There are a couple lakes around me but they are small as well. Quote

It just has a HUGE crappie die off but I'm going to fish it this weekend to see if the bass were effected at all. Faylor is just down the road but it's NO motors at all (Rowing only). It's a great lake to fish from shore though. They are both stocked with Northerns too Quote
oprcsr Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 I'd be interested in either. Always like catching Northerns. Or any of the southern PA lakes. Date wise I can't do the weekends of the 14/15th or 21/22 of August. Other than that I should be able to go. Quote

Yeah, the Susky would be tough with just electric around this area. When its low it can be tough with anything though. Those rocks can be brutal. Walker is about 1 1/2 hrs for me. I would be willing to travel that distance. Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 I'd be interested for sure. I can't commit until a time and place is set though. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted July 20, 2010 Super User Posted July 20, 2010 Depending on distance, I might be in. Keep me in the loop. Wayne, dunked my cell phone last week in Upper Saranac, PM me your digits. Quote
oprcsr Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 Walker is about 2 hours away, that might be a bit far for me (just due to travel time). Quote
