acesarcher Posted July 16, 2010 Posted July 16, 2010 Hey guys fished Glendale lake today for the first time, I only have a small 5hp engine so getting around is a little tough. I only caught 2 small keepers, the stringy grass is a nightmare! any help would be greatley appreciated!!! Quote
fishincop640 Posted July 16, 2010 Posted July 16, 2010 My cousin Shawn and I fish Glendale 3-4 times a week. The grass is definetely getting bad up there. That's where the fish are at though! It can be frustrating. Where are you launching from? Quote
NateFollmer Posted July 19, 2010 Posted July 19, 2010 My favorite lake has some HEAVY grass in it right now also. I've been mainly just throwing wacky rigs and the action has been awesome. If you use a small enough bait and throw it weightless, the rig should just sit right on top of the grass and get smashed. White 3 inch sluggos have been the ticket for me the past couple days. My brother even caught his first Pickerel doing this Another good thing to do near this grass is toss swimbaits along the edge of the grass line (if you can find one, I don't know how bad your grass problem is). Some people even throw them weightless on top of the grass, but I haven't had much success with that. Quote
acesarcher Posted July 21, 2010 Author Posted July 21, 2010 Dont get me wrong I LOVE fishing grass. but this isnt like your typical coontail or millfoil. Its real stringy you cant really punch down through it because its not hollow underneath the matts. I did catch 1 on a frog but most of it is to thick for the bass to come up through. I did find some stuff that want as thick and thats where i caught the one on the frog Quote
fishincop640 Posted July 23, 2010 Posted July 23, 2010 Guess they are blaming this weird grass on the geese, bringing it from who knows where. It's 100 times harder to fish in this grass than coontail or whatever. All you do is have to make contact with this grass and you are brining a 20" string of weeds in with every cast. They float too which is horrible because they have been dredging the marinas and dumping the weeds in the middle of the lake....i know of guys that nearly lost the lower unit on the motor from getting these weeds around it. Choey23 Posted August 20, 2010 Posted August 20, 2010 I hear you guys. I've been fishing galena all summer and have donatedbalot of lures to the lake haha. I've only caught two big fish all summer. Where do you guys fish and have luck if you don't mind me asking Quote
