champlain-champ Posted July 22, 2009 Posted July 22, 2009 need some new spots on lake champlain to broaden my tournament days when my spots arent holding up. i fish the northern part of the lake and if you are willing to show me some new spots ill take you out in my 18 foot stratos and ill trade some of my spots with you as well. feel free to bring a handheld GPS ill pay for the gas. im looking for spots between ausable and the canadian border. im from plattsburgh new york and usually launch from wilcox dock. the same place the flw etc... launches from. give me a shout i have some really good spots but the only problem i have is that everyone in my league knows most of my spots and theres nothing worse than making a 20 minute run to see someone already sitting on it. Super User Tin Posted July 22, 2009 Super User Posted July 22, 2009 You would have to pay me for mine. ;D Dude, start looking south. If you want 20+ pound bags of smallies and NO ONE around, start looking south of Mallets. Is Missiqoui throwing out big largemouth bags as easily as last year with the water being lower? Quote
c17Lat Posted July 30, 2009 Posted July 30, 2009 anyone know spots where i can find pencil reeds and lilly pads in late august on champlain? i'll give you info on the potomac river lol, but i'm serious. Quote
Super User Tin Posted July 30, 2009 Super User Posted July 30, 2009 Sounds like you need to run to Missiqoui. ;D It's like fishing a swamp anyway. But everyone else will be fishing those so focus on the old duck blinds and the rivers. Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted July 30, 2009 Posted July 30, 2009 c17Lat, The south part of the lake around Whitehall and Ticonderoga NY has good weedbeds. There's also a a weedy bay that runs along the interstate south of St Albans on the VT side. Can't give you anymore detail I haven't been up there for a while. Quote
champlain-champ Posted September 30, 2009 Author Posted September 30, 2009 i just want to thank everyone for not helping me lol it lead to one of the greatest discoveries i have ever made on lake champlain... while looking at a map one day trying to find some new ground i could cover i was idling in about 21 feet of water staring at the map and my partner said "HEY WHATS THAT!?" looking at the graph.... i peaked up from the map to see this giant object on the graph and it stuck up off the lake floor about 7 feet.... i hit reverse on the motor shut it off dumped the trolling motor dropped a line and caught a 3 1/2 pound largemouth within 30 seconds... shortly after that a 4lbs smallie and several other big largemouths followed... what was it that i found? A SUNKEN BOAT! not far from the plattsburgh area about 150 yards from shore. i dont know why no one else has ever found this but i havnt seen anyone on it yet! i have a tournament coming up this weekend but so far everytime i have fished it i have produced over 16-17 lbs in just a matter of minutes fishing a football jig.... its absolutely amazing. and all i can say is thank you everyone for not wasting my time looking at your spots cuz now i got one thats all to myself lol Quote

fisin green Posted October 1, 2009 Posted October 1, 2009 lol the thought looks pretty broken up to, it took me about a hour to type it out in between calls. Quote
Buckeye1955 Posted December 8, 2009 Posted December 8, 2009 I do really well in the Alburg area fishing around the Alburg tongue. We stay at Henry's Sportsmens Cabins and fish the Carry cove area and up toward the north end of North Hero Island. Plenty of grass and weeds in that area. Great largemouth fishing. Quote
hjerk24 Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 Here's a spot we hit that seems to produce in AM/PM. 43°49'47.60"N 73°23'53.26"W This is a spot around the corner from the fort. If you can see the bar/tavern and the shoal (just beneath the yellow tack) then you are at the spot. This spot produced every time we fished it last Summer. AM and PM. Good weeds and deep near the railroad tracks. Jamie NO SECRET, but had a blast for early morning topwater, later plastics and frogs, as well as late day topwater again. Fishing past the shoal South and down a few hundred yards also produced. We were closer to the banks where the spot is, then when we headed South around the shoal, we were getting out about 100yds from the shore. We had good luck here late JUNE, weeds were nice. If anyone needs (NO BASSMASTER HERE...) any of the GPS stuff I have, which is limited, I will be happy to send what I have so far- but I need another e-mail, other than here. THX Quote

Yea it is pretty sad. What's even sadder is winning a club T on Champlain and proclaiming yourself Champlain-Champ, LOL. Quote
fishizzle Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 Heres a new spot no one knew of before http://www.comcast.net/video/raw-video-bridge-demolished/1371342440/Comcast/1371221966/ Quote
hjerk24 Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 Seems like a new "Hot" spot to me. I usually don't head up that way....may be we'll fish up that way, one day next trip?????? Thanks for the video. Quote
fishizzle Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 you're welcome I just came across it by accident and thought I'd pass it along. I'm not sure if they clean up the metal or not but even if they do, there will still be some missed. Just have to be careful not to wreck your line on the rusty stuff. Quote
hjerk24 Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 Can you see 50 boats there in the wee hours of the morning?????? It's not major deep there either (that I remember), so they better make sure a well marked/cleared channel is made. Quote
vtbassin Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 The plan is to remove all of the bridge parts dropped into the lake. They are starting work on that now. the new bridge is scheduled to open in 2011. I have heard a rumor that no traffic will be allowed under the construction area. So, plan your trip for north of the bridge or south of the bridge but not running under the bridge. Also the boat launch that was under the bridge will be closed until construction is complete. I would be surprised if it is actually finished on time. I am sure we will hear more as we get closer to open water fishing. Quote
collegebassman Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 Hey everyone, I am new on here. I fish the FLW College Tour for Vermont Technical College. Most of the time, I fish down south near ti. I have spots south but I an new to the northern part of the lake. I have fished mallets bay and up to the alburgh bridge. Does anyone have any humps or weed edges around there, or even further north. Or like was stated before, any of those nice shipwrecks loaded with bass? Email me at justinbrouillard@yahoo.com if anyone is willing to help me out. Thanks everyone Quote
Beardog Posted July 15, 2010 Posted July 15, 2010 Go to the Northern Bass supply website and buy Dale Brown's book, Bass Fishing 101, Lake Champlain. If you are looking for spots, he gives you enough for a lifetime (though I don't agree with a lot of his contentions). Quote
Super User Tin Posted July 15, 2010 Super User Posted July 15, 2010 Oh come on Justin, I know you're good enough to find your own... :-X Quote

blue skeeter Posted August 1, 2010 Posted August 1, 2010 Can anyone tell me if you can get into the main lake from Ticonderoga since the bridge was brought down? I am fishing a tournament there next weekend and all my spots are north of the bridge. Quote
