buzzbait4me Posted June 1, 2010 Posted June 1, 2010 I just moved to Pennsylvania and need to find some good lakes and also some tactics for the summer. Quote
BadKarma42 Posted June 2, 2010 Posted June 2, 2010 You might want to post in the Northeast section. You might also want to give an idea where you are in PA...its kind of a big state. Quote
bass or bass ? Posted June 2, 2010 Posted June 2, 2010 In western Pa I'd recommend Lake Arthur, Allegheny River and Ohio River. Lake Erie in the north for smallmouth. Quote
NateFollmer Posted June 2, 2010 Posted June 2, 2010 Where in Pa? Here in central Pa we have the Juniata and Susquehanna Rivers, Walker Lake, Faylor Lake, Raystown Lake, Whipple Dam, Greenwood Furnace (more of a trout empoundment but it holds smallies)... those are just a few spots... Quote
NateFollmer Posted June 2, 2010 Posted June 2, 2010 Coyler Lake my friend... Come toward Lewistown on 322 and right after that Harley Davidson shop on the left (you can't miss it because it's a huge place with a ranch beside it). Right on the hard right turn look for the sign that says Colyer Lake Access. It's a good 3 or 4 miles back that road, but find directions online because some of the signs are hard to see. Coyler is in the big bass program and its half drained because the dam is cracked, so the bass are concentrated and EASY to catch. I live down in Lewistown about 30 miles south of you. I'm coming up to Penn's Creek tonight to fly fish If you live near Penn's, you'll have to start targeting trout too. Penn's has some of the best hatches on the East coast! Quote
basser89 Posted June 2, 2010 Posted June 2, 2010 Sayers isn't too far from you either! Fun lake to fish (IMO!). Quote
heathen Posted June 2, 2010 Posted June 2, 2010 Black Moshannon State Park is another not to far from where you are. Quote
NateFollmer Posted June 2, 2010 Posted June 2, 2010 Sayers isn't too far from you either! Fun lake to fish (IMO!). Sayer's hasn't been as productive this year as it has in the past. I don't know if the recent drainings have effected the fish or what. Quote
basser89 Posted June 2, 2010 Posted June 2, 2010 Thanks for the heads up Nate! I haven't made it up there yet this year. Quote
NateFollmer Posted June 2, 2010 Posted June 2, 2010 I'd still go up though. That new lodge/hotel thing (whatever it is) is almost finished and it looks NICE. I may even stay in it just because it looks that good (it's only a 30 minute drive to Sayer's for me) haha. I hate when they drain the lake because a bunch of people just sit on the little pockets of fish and rip them out (no fun at all!). I think it's really starting to effect the fishing! Quote
basser89 Posted June 2, 2010 Posted June 2, 2010 Nice! Yeah, I'm originally from down in Juniata county so its not that far away. I was up there twice last year and saw them building that massive place! I bet it does look really nice! Never fished up there when it was drawn down. Dad goes up ice fishing during the winter and has done pretty well then. Quote
mjhutch1116 Posted June 2, 2010 Posted June 2, 2010 Hey Basser, All you have to do is say the word and you can be fishing on Sayers within a day or so. But of course you have to clear up your love life first, Make sure you get permission to come up and fish I wouldn't want to be responsible for you getting in trouble!!! ;D Matt Quote

I didn't realize there were so many of you from the same area as me haha. It's good to see I'm not alone Quote
