egolfer Posted April 6, 2010 Posted April 6, 2010 Hey Jersey, I will be heading to Fairfield in about 2 weeks. Are their any lakes/ponds that are good for some evening shore fishing? Quote

The fairfield area has been pretty flooded, don't be surprised if the "lake" you're fishing is just a flooded parking lot lol Quote
D4u2s0t Posted April 6, 2010 Posted April 6, 2010 Got my first of the season, hair over 2lbs. Felt great after pulling in the sluggish fish through the ice all winter. Got it on a t-rigged rooster. Quote

Got it. Quote

Got it. yep. if you want some nice, clean water, come to northwest jersey. If you've never been there, you wouldn't even know it was nj. Once you get away from the malls and the parkway, it's like a totally different world. Quote

D4u2s0t Posted April 6, 2010 Posted April 6, 2010 So here's the update for my area, nothing has been biting except the perch that have come real shallow to spawn. Caught probably close to 70 perch on sunday, and a few gills as well between me and a friend. Was pretty much every cast, regardless of where you put it. Haven't had a bass bite at all this year until today... went down to the beach before work, saw tons of baitfish very shallow, and the gills had come in too... usually a good sign. Then I got the bass that i posted the pic of. Had a few bites, they were pretty quick and vicious, didn't hook up, i'm going to assume they were gills. With the warm weather finally here in my neck of the woods (it's usually about 10-12 degrees colder in my town vs. towns immediately down the mountain) i'm looking forward to fishing friday with my brother, and he's staying the night and coming to opening day on saturday (trout). So should be a good weekend. Maybe even get out in the boat for a while. Quote
Pantera61 Posted April 9, 2010 Posted April 9, 2010 Things have been pretty inconsistent in Central NJ. Went out a few weeks ago and picked up 17 bass between my friend and I in the space of 4 hours. Another lake would be goose egg, then another a couple fish. Between the cold into March and the heavy rain, it's been tough but it's better than watching the paint dry. Quote
Super User bilgerat Posted April 12, 2010 Super User Posted April 12, 2010 Good day down here in Camden County last Friday. Got a 5, a 4 and a big 'ol catfish all on an XCalibur One Knocker lipless crank. I'm happy, as cranks are not my strong suit. Forecast calling for rain this weekend, you know where I'll be..... Quote
D4u2s0t Posted April 17, 2010 Posted April 17, 2010 Me and my buddy decided to try out luck at some walleye yesterday, we both hooked one and lost it at the boat lol. sucked. I've never caught a walleye in the states, so was pretty pumped. We both got them till about 2 feet from the boat, just enough to be able to see and confirm it was a walleye. Hard to tell how big they were, so i'm not even going to guess. We ended up getting a crapload of perch though, so still a good time. Quote
NNJBassman Posted April 21, 2010 Posted April 21, 2010 Things picking up here at Lake Mohawk. I have caught over 25 Bass so far this month. The fish range from a few ounces to a nice fat female (I guess around 4 lbs). The Trout fishing has been pretty good also. ;D Quote
D4u2s0t Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 My brother got his first trout opening day, and he got one with the hook a winner clip. not a bad first trout lol Quote
D4u2s0t Posted April 26, 2010 Posted April 26, 2010 Bass still aren't biting, but we killed the panfish yesterday, got some big *** crappie, perch and gills trolling and jigging on the deeper structure. Then we had an ambitious perch that was barely bigger than the rapala lol Quote
D4u2s0t Posted May 19, 2010 Posted May 19, 2010 Here's a few recent fish. Bass are still sluggish, but they're starting to bite. Quote
