backwater4 Posted April 21, 2010 Posted April 21, 2010 I'll let you know Friday night. I have a two day tournament on Candlewood, Thurs. and Fri. and another on Lillinonah on Sunday. It will hopefully be a good week. Quote
The Yankee Fist Posted April 25, 2010 Posted April 25, 2010 Hi, I got these three 'lil guys last Monday plus another on the Housatonic River from shore. Sadly, the last was the biggest fish and the camera decided it would die : The water is still very high and it's a tough row but if you are patient they are there, look for sun, structure and shallow depths, especially along the shorelines themselves. Top fish caught on a Yama craw..others on Green Pumpkin'black flake 3.5" tubes. Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted April 26, 2010 Posted April 26, 2010 Lilinnonah was tough Sat. Our club Tx was won with 4 fish weighing 4.8 Lbs. A lot of us got skunked or only brought 1-2 to the scales. I've heard better reports from Candlewood but haven't been yet. Quote
backwater4 Posted April 26, 2010 Posted April 26, 2010 Fished a 2 day club tourn. on Candlewood, thurs and fri. Fishing was pretty good. Had about 10-12 bass per day, mixed large and smallmouth. Most our fish came on hair jigs and football jigs in 15' or less. Bigger fish were deeper, 2 lbers were all over the flats. We only weighed in 22 kvd for 2 days. Winner had 32, but one was an 8.5 largie. Trying to get to Zoar this weekend. Hope this helps. Quote
Chris W. Posted April 26, 2010 Posted April 26, 2010 I've gotten a bunch of bass. My girl got a 4lb largemouth and my buds caught a few trout, perch and a bass or two. hate the sunnies! Where in CT are you all fishing? Quote
Bass Grant Posted April 27, 2010 Author Posted April 27, 2010 i have tried many places i went to west hill mcdonough silver lake and got skunked at all of them surprisingly the only place i have caught something was a winding trails and that was only a perch and a small largemouth..i really want to try and go to candlewood 10 to 12 per day sounds great to me i just need some time to go..i was fishing all the short lines and structure i could find but couldnt get a bite i even tried cheating using a worm :/ just so i could catch something! but that still didnt work..so now i just have to head up to bigger better lakes..let me know how zoar goes i heard it was a good lake Quote

Plastic jerks. Also, the NW corner of the lake when chilly but the sun is out. West Hill...well, it's West Hill ;D Dog Pond is good, really good. Mudge Pond in Sharon is very good but weedy and they have a limit on vessel/motor size. Wherever you end up around here this time of year, try soft jerks, S-L-O-W. If it's smallies you are after...from shore, Canaan all the way down is really good if you are patient....especially the Stanley Tract Bass Management Area. Quote
fishizzle Posted May 7, 2010 Posted May 7, 2010 Mcdonough tough? you are probably fishing too shallow. Dropshot or small black jigs in 15' or more on points and humps. The water there has 12' visibility so fish stay away from shore. Quote
